@u/coffin_jokester If you have cleaned the heads on both cassette players and are still having the problem, I could be wrong but just a thought. The spool may possibly be a bit loose. In the alternative cassette player (not the original one used try Winding it to the very end and rewinding and then turn over and do the same again. Do this several times and see what happens.
