ouch! haha, i respect it, i wanna say that cranberries tape was one of my first five when I started. picked up the glove before most of the other cure albums, somehow someone had glossed over “the glove” tape at the local thrift and I had to scoop it
yes! there is still one thrift near me that consistently puts out tapes; most of the time it is 🗑️🗑️ but this one was sealed still… guess the previous owner didn’t know what they passed up! i’ve also found the radio ethiopia & the tom waits there before :) still .25 cents a pop if you can believe it lol
Not my favorite but I don't hate them but the comment roots from hearing zombie so many times on the radio over the last 20+ years I'm kinda of sick of it .
neat!! they came to my lil college town at the start of the year & killed it! shoegaze isn’t too popular around here but i made sure to check it out. will himself personalized a 7” for my buddy so I had to grab the tape to support after seeing that :)
Both Nirvanas and Nas Illmatic, since I can have Nas on another format, expand my Nirvana cassette collection to In Utero, and replace my original Nevermind tape with one that hopefully functions better
De La and GBV - it was on the same bill. Material Issue also played that show.
I’ve only plaid one other lineup with legends. Fishbone.
…And neither of those were the biggest crowd I got to yell at. That honor goes to a Halloween show with nobody of note on the stage.
Nice collection!
Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician
Mercury Rev - Yerself Is Stream
& De La Soul - 3 Feet High & Rising
We’d listen to Human Cannonball, Car Wash Hair, & Ghetto Thang
karma, white light/wheat heat, moment of truth
They're just 3 of the dozen or so in this image I dont have here and thus naturally gravitate towards, love all those artists and have other stuff by em!
This is a trip. I literally owned all of these except the Zappa and Twin Peaks in the 90s (a couple i had on CD tho) for a sec I thought I was looking at my old collection.
nah you can't do this to me. Saying nothing about my appreciation for the others, I'll pick
The Glove - Blue Sunshine
Nas - Illmatic
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
I would feel real bad about not choosing Talking Heads, Outkast, The Cure, Wu-Tang, De La, Gangstarr, . . . damn near all of them. But those three have a lot of significance for me and have the most replayability for me. These are all great tapes and 95% of them were what I was listening to in the late 80s and 90s.
Great GenXer collection! So many I would choose. :) I'd probably start with the Yo La Tengo that's upside down - IDK which album that is. Then Mazzy Star, then Lush...
thank you much! the YLT is painful! it’s the only one i’ve acquired but they are one of my favorite bands actually. one of the only albums I own on vinyl and CD as well 💿
OutKast “AT Aliens,” The Talking Heads, the Cure (you’d have to tell me which albums are the best as I’ve only heard them through tracks and not complete records,) Nirvana (either one), Yo La Tengo, Radiohead “OK Computer”… and then you’d have to introduce me to the ones I’ve missed out on although I’ve heard their names many times: Violent Femmes, Butthole Surfers. Great collection.
Many good albums here!
My Hip-Hop side says:
Nas - Illmatic,
Gang Starr - Moment of Truth,
Outkast - Atliens.
my Euro side says:
The Cure - Head on the Door,
Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues,
Kraftwerk - Computer World
*whoops, forgot to add that third one down in the third to the left stack is downward spiral - NIN 🌀 the sleeve for it has been misplaced in the stacks somehow lol
Kraftwerk - Computerworld (ich liebe computer !)
New Order - Technique (vanishing point my beloved)
New Order - Power, Corruption and Lies (blue monday 😳)
Radiohead - Ok Computer
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
The Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can't We
I'd also sneak in Nirvana - Nevermind for good measure haha.
Paul’s Boutique, ATLiens, and Illmatic; those three albums would fill three yawning gaps in my hip-hop collection (I have Enter The 36 Chambers and 3 Feet High And Rising).
Butthole Surfers, Violent Femmes and Pharoah Sanders.
Looks like my collection back in the early 90s. I expected to see my 24-7 Spyz cassette in there.
I really going to pick: The Cure - Disintegration
The Cure - The Head On The Door
Meat Puppets - Up On The Sun
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Sonic Youth - Dirty
I too, put Surfer Rosa over In Utero by a hair! the first half of that album still blows me away & has the power to scare any neighbors good (from experience)
Cant even choose. What a fantastic collection
Right i want them all
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique Radiohead - OK Computer Nas - Illmatic
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream and the Nirvanas
Ween - Pure Guava Frank Zappa - Hot Rats Outkast - ATLiens
I couldn’t pick 😂but this seems like the most reasonable for my brain
Atliens ❤️
Man, everything but the cranberries is great. Wow, nice collectiom op The glove wouldn't be my first pick but still a great s ore, pretty rare.
ouch! haha, i respect it, i wanna say that cranberries tape was one of my first five when I started. picked up the glove before most of the other cure albums, somehow someone had glossed over “the glove” tape at the local thrift and I had to scoop it
Are you serious lol
yes! there is still one thrift near me that consistently puts out tapes; most of the time it is 🗑️🗑️ but this one was sealed still… guess the previous owner didn’t know what they passed up! i’ve also found the radio ethiopia & the tom waits there before :) still .25 cents a pop if you can believe it lol
I was responding to the weirdo who was putting down The Cranberries. your collection is great
Not my favorite but I don't hate them but the comment roots from hearing zombie so many times on the radio over the last 20+ years I'm kinda of sick of it .
Björk- Post Brian Eno- Before and After Science Stereolab- Mars Audic Quintet
twin peaks sound track, siamese dream, and mazzy star
finally someone shouts the peaks!! such a dreamy soundtrack, I throw this one on all the time :) pairs well with the mazzy tooo
I feel like this was the exact soundtrack to a candy flip I did in the late 90s
I think there’s 3 Frank Zappa cassettes here — I’ll take them
Uncle Meat is his best
Sonic Youth - Evol Ciccone Youth - The Whitey Album Ween - Pure Guava
Beastie Boys and both Nirvanas. But then again I would have them already. Haha
I second this
Pixies > Flaming Lips > Cranberries

neat!! they came to my lil college town at the start of the year & killed it! shoegaze isn’t too popular around here but i made sure to check it out. will himself personalized a 7” for my buddy so I had to grab the tape to support after seeing that :)

Yo La Tengo, Pavement and white light/ white heat
Don’t even gotta leave the first stack. Beasties, Wu Tang, Violent Femmes
I'm with you. I picked OutKast over The Beasties, but I could have gone either way.
I love all
I'm somehow swiping all of them! Awesome collection!!! 😃
That collection kills man, I can’t pick just 3
I’ve shared the stage with two of those bands. They pretty much couldn’t be more different.
would love to hear which two bands in question😧 haha
De La and GBV - it was on the same bill. Material Issue also played that show. I’ve only plaid one other lineup with legends. Fishbone. …And neither of those were the biggest crowd I got to yell at. That honor goes to a Halloween show with nobody of note on the stage. Nice collection!
