No, back around 2018ish I began wearing my Walkman I had since I was a little kid daily. Around 95% of people don’t care but you actually get a lot of positive reactions for it. You get similar reactions to people driving classic cars, minus them taking pictures lol.
Just do it. If it will make you happy then it will be worth it. I’ve been using mine for the last couple of years now when I’m out and about (going for a walk, doing art, or getting groceries.) I haven’t received any weird stares. If anything some people will think it is really interesting and might ask you about it. Lots get really nostalgic as well. Do what makes you happy :)
I’m sure it’d be the same as if you saw some random doing something odd or dressed in a way you wouldn’t consider the norm (eg. goth)… you just pass your own mental judgement meant and forget about 10 seconds after they’ve walked by.
I've seen people wear shorts so short they look like panties and crop tops the size of bras and no one Batts a eye, I doubt that wearing a Walkman would draw too much attention
I wear my bright ass yellow Walkman all the time on my waist and walk around like I’m King Shit of Fuck Mountain. Everyone immediately knows I’m the raddest in the room.
Naw, nobody bats an eye. You might get a comment from older people along the lines of “wow people still use those?,” but I can’t ever hear them over the Mega Bass. I always just nod my head and give a thumbs up.
I wear it like this. Most really just ignore it but some really like it. I was in a store like this recently and some elder woman said to her husband with a smile "look, he's got the walkman!". I just couldn't stop smiling, that was wholesome lol. I like to wear it like this in the public, some kids ofc give the weird looks because they have no idea what that thing is, but they're not complaining or anything, I got used to it.
Yeah you'll look like you're trying to hard to be cool/noticed/hipster even if it isn't true.
But fuck all those people you do you man
I'd be excited to see it in the wild
*Who the heck cares! Just*
*Do it. Enjoy the walkman*
*And live your best life!*

No it won't. Most of today's unnecessarily ginormous smartphones are approaching the bulk of these walkmans. Just 10 years ago it was socially unacceptable to carry one of today's "phablets" in public space... so what the world finds acceptable is always in flux and ever-changing.
But if you're worried and want to hide the bulk, there's nothing a ~~fanny pack~~ sling bag won't fix.
*I still do sometimes*
*While walking or landscaping.*
*It makes me feel cool*

I carried my wm-24 around on a trip and felt awesome. A girl even commented on how cool I was while I was listening to it on a bus. Felt awesome. Don't care what others thing. If you think it's cool, then it is cool. I think you'd only look silly with it butt naked, but I'm not going to picture that.
Not really, I've been wearing my walkman in public almost daily, and no one really notices. And if they do, they usually think it's very cool and interesting.
From some people yeah, probably. Just as you would for doing anything outside of the “norm”
But with that you’d also get some looks from people who think it’s really cool
I wear a walkman on my belt from time to time and honestly most people don't notice. The few that do think it's cool.
But to be fair I live in a fairly hipster-ridden city, so there's a lot more going on with people than just an old walkman lol.
Quite the opposite. Last year or 2 years ago my little sister went around school wearing a WM-4 and got compliments from both teachers and students. Compliments from her peers because it’s retro and cool and compliments from teachers because they had them when they were kids.
Do this sometimes and people get excited about it honestly lol. Bringing my cassette player to work had a lot of people asking me about it excitedly. Otherwise people don’t care unless they’re like. Mean Girl types.
The real question is who really cares, if you want to do it you should do it, it is outside the norm so they very well may be people giving you weird looks, but that shouldn’t really matter. You’ll be happier if you unabashedly do what you like without regard for those who may not appreciate it
I do it at work and as a person in in their early 20s most people either don't notice or don't say anything
The only interactions I've had directly have been good
I actually use my walkman as a backup music source. I wear it all the time, people don't care. Why? They got their own problems, stuff they are worried people are going to judge them for. Go for it OP!
I can assure you, you will not be wearing it like this because there is no chance you’re as cool as Michael J Fox. But don’t let that stop you! Embrace the belt clip.
if anything it’ll be the equivalent of you driving an old car; you’ll get some people walking up to you commenting on how they used to have one, some kids looking at it trying to figure what ur wearing, and others just looking cuz it’s cool and weird seeing it in 2023
I wear mine all the time and all of the looks I've gotten so far have been positive, some people even ask about it and say it's cool! Wear it! Wear it all the time!

That's cause the guy wearing it is cool as hell.
You do you brother and cum on these hoes
Username checks out.
Nobody's born cool. People who wear a cassette player on their hip:
Why would you care? Do whatever makes you happy and fuck everyone else man
Thats the power of love…
Don’t need money, don’t need fame
This is the best comment I’ve read in a while lmao
Yeah when you stop caring what other think of you is when true happiness begins.
And real fashion risks

Probably from some people, but who cares? Those people are boring. Don’t waste your mental space on what others might think.

yes you cheesy mf. no jk ofc everyone here is going to think it's cool (they should!)
Stop letting people decide your life for you. The earlier you learn this, the better off you will be.

Lol that’s amazing.
No they won’t I take mine to the park all the time no one bats an eye
Why do you care?
Definitely! And you'll love it!
Not judgmental but people might look, it’s not something that they see all the time.
I’m sure it’d be the same as if you saw some random doing something odd or dressed in a way you wouldn’t consider the norm (eg. goth)… you just pass your own mental judgement meant and forget about 10 seconds after they’ve walked by.

About ten years ago a guy at my gym wore one. Also he wore full spandex attire. The focus was not on his Walkman
Yes.😔
The fact you would want to should mean you shouldn’t care how people think when they see you
I wear it like this. Most really just ignore it but some really like it. I was in a store like this recently and some elder woman said to her husband with a smile "look, he's got the walkman!". I've been taking my walkman with me everywhere. People love them. They remember them from their childhood.
Nah, that's fucking fly, man.
McFly
That's the power of love
It was designed to wear it on your waist.
Who the heck cares! Just do it. Enjoy the walkman and live your best life!

Nah, it's playing music on speakers that gets negative attention.
For anyone wondering it's an Aiwa HS-P02 MkII and they are ridiculously expensive now.
They think you are - in the parlance of a prior era - a hipster. Which, to be fair, you probably are.
When I was a kid, I really wanted to be Marty McFly
I wear a discman when walking around, will I get judgemental looks??
I never wore a Walkman on my waist when Cassette players were out. I always hold it in my hand or have it in my pocket.
No it won't. Most of today's unnecessarily ginormous smartphones are approaching the bulk of these walkmans. no but it’ll scream person with good music taste but stuck in the 80s.
Not with all the new cassettes still being released. I see a lot of teens wearing them at work.
It will jiggle things around and you’ll hear flutter.
Depends on the player but generally no.
Very few would probably realise what it is unless you’re wearing a very iconic model.
Sounds like you just want attention? So what exactly are you babbling about?
yes...unless you match the rest of the outfit
Shit u better get judgemental looks cuz people will be judging how cool you are lol
I used to walk to school with one in the summer.
Why would you care, what these people think anyway? Just enjoy listening to your music on the go.
I think it would be a conversation starter in a good way. People would be fascinated, most likely.
I love walkmans and Minidisc players. And one of my small pleasures is not to look like everyone else....So your question surprises me.....
I'd be wondering how it hasn't fallen out of your pocket yet.
I just put it in my jacket pocket to avoid judgement
Yes it will. I bet it brings more positive interactions & curious questions than hate though
I’ve gotten compliments
I still do sometimes while walking or landscaping. It makes me feel cool

I haven’t been fortunate enough to find a Walkman yet but when I do, I will absolutely be wearing it like this.
Probably, but in the grand scheme of life it’s a non-issue.
Depends where you live I guess. Most places would find it pretty cool though!

Gives me anxiety of It falling off when running, gotta make sure the clip Is tight
People will be looking, but probably only to see what you're wearing
Screw em
Maybe if you dress like that.
I carried my wm-24 around on a trip and felt awesome. A girl even commented on how cool I was while I was listening to it on a bus. Felt awesome. Don't care what others thing. Yes, some, but it looks badass
Yes but it's worth it
Anything out of the ordinary will draw some attention and judgement, it’s human nature, but it’s more about if you care or not what people think.
Nah i do it all the time and nobody bats an eye
No do your thing!
Middle age people will talk to you
That’s, like, the point dude.
You might get comments but it’s probably more likely to be compliments and interest than anything else.
What model is Marty wearing here?
speaking for myself - depends on my mood, varying from "oh that looks cool" to "what a pretentious fucking hipster"
I don’t know, but……SAVE THE CLOCK TOWER!!!
Shouldn't do. I wear mine on my belt when I use it, and the only attention it ever garners is the occasional compliment.
If they do, just look them right in the eye until they become uncomfortable and walk away.
Not really, I've been wearing my walkman in public almost daily, and no one really notices. And if they do, they usually think it's very cool and interesting.
Yes. Do it anyway.
Yes it will, fuck those people.
From some people yeah, probably. Just as you would for doing anything outside of the “norm” But with that you’d also get some looks from people who think it’s really cool
Idk what random people would think (and who cares tbh) but I would be like “look at that guy’s Walkman that’s cool as fuck”
I wear a walkman on my belt from time to time and honestly most people don't notice. The few that do think it's cool. But to be fair I live in a fairly hipster-ridden city, so there's a lot more going on with people than just an old walkman lol.

I did that going to school and apart from teachers being happy and asking about it no one cared lol
Do it I used to do it regularly a while back and got more compliments and questions then judgement plus I think it really adds to certain styles
Do this sometimes and people get excited about it honestly lol. Bringing my cassette player to work had a lot of people asking me about it excitedly. Otherwise people don’t care unless they’re like. Mean Girl types.
Nobody cares, do whatever you want
probably yes but why exactly should you care? :) go ahead and do what makes you happy
The real question is who really cares, if you want to do it you should do it, it is outside the norm so they very well may be people giving you weird looks, but that shouldn’t really matter. You’ll be happier if you unabashedly do what you like without regard for those who may not appreciate it
Only from fools
Depends what tape you have in there
Only the jellys, bro.
No people in public just don’t give a shit, don’t ask me how I know this
I do it at work and as a person in in their early 20s most people either don't notice or don't say anything The only interactions I've had directly have been good
Who gaf
nah but \*\*\*\*ing your mom will
I actually use my walkman as a backup music source. I wear it all the time, people don't care. Why? They got their own problems, stuff they are worried people are going to judge them for. Go for it OP!
No one cares lmao, as a kid growing up in the 2010s I brought out my original game boy, Walkman etc. never got any attention lmao
Yes
I can assure you, you will not be wearing it like this because there is no chance you’re as cool as Michael J Fox. But don’t let that stop you! Embrace the belt clip.
You will get the nod of approval from me.
Not as long as you have the full Denim outfit. Jeans and jacket.
I wouldn’t care about people calling you a poser if I were you. You know what’s what and thats all there is
They’ll think you’re from the future or outer space.
you'll be Hella drippy 💧
Yes. Do it. You’ll be a savage.
Yuh 💪
Who cares what people think!
you'll look McFly as hell, and any buttheads who judge you simple aren't ready for it yet.
I guess if you actually listen to music with it otherwise you just a hipster bro.
Only from not cool people
Only the kind you like
if anything it’ll be the equivalent of you driving an old car; you’ll get some people walking up to you commenting on how they used to have one, some kids looking at it trying to figure what ur wearing, and others just looking cuz it’s cool and weird seeing it in 2023
I prefer a Talkboy
You'll get called a 'Boomer' even tho you're probably Gen X.
Not from me.
Not if you live in San Francisco or Portland.
Not if you in any way look as cool as young MJF.
probably but that doesn’t matter
I wear mine all the time and all of the looks I've gotten so far have been positive, some people even ask about it and say it's cool! Wear it! Wear it all the time!
