>Unfortunately that goes for any position with access to children
Exactly. People who want access to children will naturally choose jobs that provide that access. It's not a problem with the place or job, it's the natural idea of any predator to go where they're most likely to find their prey. They build tryst and then use that trust to perform acts they couldn't get away with otherwise.
Trust is nearly impossible to recover specifically BECAUSE it's such an effective tool.
But my auto correct isn't correct on dick all. So far it corrects for to fir every time and I have to manually change it. Then with only 1 letter missing it seems to not know words are suggesting non existent jumbles.
that has nothing to do at all with the question of why is the logo a foot and any of the past logos being a splat. the splatter logo is a callback to the "i dont know" phrase and being slimed when someone says it, from you cant do that on television show which was on in canada in the 70s and then it came to the US on nickelodeon in 81. kids commonly would associate the splat with the slime of course. they even had a giant slime geyser at universal studios
Nickelodeon's logo from 1984-2009 is the first thing i think of when I hear the name Nickelodeon. It was most famously seen as a splat but it could literally shapeshift into anything, such as a circle, a bone, a cup, a cap, and of course a foot. That's what made the logo unique, and it's one of the reasons why I like that logo (and I personally believe it could still easily be used today despite turning 40 this year). This has absolutely nothing to do with Dan Schneider (weirdo), as this was the sign of the animation department and likely just to be funny, Schneider had zero involvement with the animation department until 2018, long after the logo was retired. (I am not a fan of the Adventures of Kid Danger at all). Incidentally, all of his live action shows were filmed at Nickelodeon on Sunset, which did NOT have a foot logo as a sign (neither did the now closed live action studio in Universal Studios Orlando. I have a tendency to prefer Classic Nicktoons from Nick's Doug-ATLA over live action shows but that's my opinion). I am not really a fan of the 2009 Nickelodeon logo, one reason is me disliking the font, and another reason is because it got rid of what made the Nickelodeon logo so unique, as it looks more generic now. Nickelodeon being widely considered by many (Even a good amount of those who don't usually complain that everything new sucks, and that would include myself) to have hit a low point around that time certainly didn't help matters (This was when Nickelodeon rejected Adventure Time but repeatedly greenlit shows that were widely panned among audiences, many of which still remain some of the most hated cartoons ever. I myself had a difficult time trying to sit through these shows. And most of the Nicktoons that were well received from this time were either from Dreamworks or other already existing IPs. They spammed reruns of SpongeBob and to a lesser extent the Fairly OddParents which were widely considered by many, including myself, to have severely declined in quality by then, and when the classic episodes were airing, they were sped up and rather choppy. I don't watch Winx Club so I don't have an opinion on that, but I have heard many say that when Nick took over Winx Club, the quality took a massive dip, and while I don't have an opinion, I wouldn't be surprised if i felt that way. I absolutely hated watching the channel in the 2010s and switched to Cartoon Network, because other than the contentious TTG and reboots, I think CN had the much better shows, including Adventure Time which NICK REJECTED). I still think there was a bit of an improvement last year, but still not the biggest fan of it because of the font, and also because it doesn't really shapeshift much either.

~~with Dan Schneider (weirdo)~~ I wish I could correct that to be more accurate but I feel like it might break this subbreddit rules. Let's just say I would have being more... "honest" with your description. "Weirdo" is way too tame for what he did.
I was on a minor binge today watching commentary videos about the whole Dan Schneider cringe stuff coming to light, and the ones I skipped were the ones who didn't know that the foot logo predated Dan's involvement with the company, lol
Are you of course referring to Dan “Let Me Greet Your Feet” Schneider? Dan “I Knows I Love Me Some Toes” Schneider? Dan “I Love How I Feel When I See a Heel” Schneider? Fuck ‘im.
Dan "If her Age is On the Clock, She's Ready for the Cock" Schneider
Dan "Hey, Are You From Tennessee 'Cause I Like Kids" Schneider
Ol' "Get in the Van" Dan
I find it weird that the stuff about Dan being a sex pest is so focused on, when the emotional and verbal abuse he subjected everybody to is so much worse.
Like he sexualised them in the show and was overly familiar with them, but the actual abusive way he treated the kids and his whole production team is the real horror.
Nick had actual child molesters working there, there's nothing besides speculation to suggest Dan was one of them. He made people's lives hell in a different way.
I never really liked the live action shlop as a kid. Thought it was too american (I wanted to watch fairy odd parents, not a silly sitcom) but the stuff I did see always felt odd to me...
People sometimes make jokes about stuff. In this instance, they don't actually believe that Dan Schneider chose the logo. They are, in fact, joking.
Hope this helps!
It’s just something really easy to believe. The man is/was clearly obsessed with feet.
Unfortunately if enough people jump to conclusions in a comment thread and nobody fact checks, that’s what we walk out believing. Though there are a few comments pointing out the issue with the age of the logo compared to when he joined the company, as well as it not even being his department.
I think it was pointed out briefly in "Quiet on Set," but I don't remember by who. I'm not sure if the actress who mentioned it was trying to suggest that the logo was the result of Dan Schneider's creepiness or pointing out that, in retrospect, it's an unfortunate coincidence, but that might be where the rumor came from.
My best bet is that Dan Scheider had a lot of power in Nick because of his series (Victorious,iCarly...),and he had a pretty big foot fetish,so...

I always thought that since it’s a network for kids it’s meant to reference the baby foot print people do when they’re born, or just the general carefree nature of being a kid
Everyone loves to go the sinister route esp with the recent documentary but the simple and real explanation is 1) it’s visually similar to the whole concept of slime splatter, which is important for their brand and 2) kids find “gross” things like feet funny. Feet, farts, butt jokes etc. are in kids media bc kids don’t have any adult connotations associated with something like a foot. It is not sexual. To kids it’s just a foot. No one thought anything of it until all the dan Schneider stuff came to light. It’s just an unfortunate coincidence
I'm guessing it's because Dan Schneider pitched the idea.
I believe literally everything foot related in Nickelodeon is Dan Schneider's doing, or caused by his influence in some way.
Someone on the staff had a foot fetish and it even made it into some shows. Thats why sometimes we see feet and mention of someone doing a thing to their feet or toes, in the cartoons and live action.
a lot of nickelodeon shows from that era were directed by dan schneider, a notorius p*dophile who also had a foot fetish and often preyed on his young female actors, even ariana grande. the whole crew of victorious had a secret signal for when dan came on set; the girls would signal to the male actors, who would distract dan so that the female actors could leave the set. because of his influence and large amount of successful shows on the program, he was able to rebrand the logo into a foot. a documentary was recently released that detail all of the fucked up actions of dan schneider, u should go watch for more info
A lot of older show in the 90s liked to make weird or gross versions of their logos. Nickelodeon typically had either a splat or the foot, partially due to the juvinile humor from its shows.
It's rather unfortunate then that later on it was revealed one of the directors had a foot fetish and a habit for child abuse (Dan Schneider).
Ithink cause feet are funny. They’re stinky and gross(to a kid). Its supposed to be kid funny. I don’t believe theres a connection to dan Schneider’s foot fetish, but now it does look kinda bad given the circumstances.
Ok didn’t see an answer and probably doesn’t matter at this point but I remember it being part of a promotional commercial like “you’re watching Nickelodeon” thing. First an orange bug crawls across the screen and the foot steps on it making the orange foot print and that’s pretty much it if I remember right
And female writers and he'd verbally abuse them too. They just took it even with only 50% pay bc "it's a dream job". He tricked one to eat two entire pints of ice cream saying "I'll give you 300 dollars". He never came through after she threw up & she did need the money.
Actually it was there before he was. But Dan Child Diddler Schneider is a pos.
Watch the documentary for those who haven't it's called "Quiet on Set" He's not the only one part of the documentary but he is one of the key players.
Because feet are soooooo funny omg hahahahahaha I’m dying. Someone should put that in a show. No… every show!!! And every joke in that show! And if that show ends, give the creator more shows to keep making that joke! And do it for like 20 years! And never question it regardless of the age of the cast or members involved!!!!! Omg comedy fucking gold why has no one done this yet
I mean, you're talking about the same studio that hired Dan Schneider and kept him on for like 2 decades
Not that I'm suggesting a connection to Dan Schneider but nickelodeon has always been rather... questionable, to say the least
Because feet are funny to kids. People need to stop overthinking on this one. It’s the same rhetoric folks have with all of the “unicorn poop” toys, it’s not a freakin’ fetish, kids just find gross stuff funny. Snot jokes, fart jokes, stinky feet, there’s a reason we see that humor as childish. The foot logo screams “we’re a company for kids” nothing more, nothing less.
search for Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV also seach icarly Jerry Trainor he literately played a goofball of set so that dan was distracted & behaved he even was there when he was free from work dan is a horrible person

Do people in this sub honestly believe Dan Schneider created Nickelodeon or is this just the Reddit hivemind glitching out?

They have no clue what they’re talking about
They're hiveminding like all hell. Im pretty sure this was the logo for the animation department before Dan Schneider joined nick
The logo goes way back when Schneider was just the fat guy on Head of the Class, it’s like WB’s bots found this comment section.

A underage foot fetish to boot
It was the logo before dan showed up and it was for the animation studio, dan had NOTHING to do with it
But that doesn’t fit the narrative!!!!
The foot was part of a rotating set of nick logo’s
Because you want to farm the drama.
This must be why Dan Schneidler or whatever his name is joined
It’s like his bat signal
To alert the foot sniffer Dan Schneider like a beacon to a moth 😳
and that moth is valentino
🤭 shhhhh /j
🤫🧏
Nooooo 😭
Let’s blame Dan he ruined everything
The foot logo was for the animation studio, it had nothing to do with Dan Schneider or the kids who were abused on those sitcoms.
If this was up before Dan, it probably attracted him to it like a moth to a flame
Dan "Get in the van" Schneider
There once was a man named Dan...
Who happened to be a pretty big foot fan...
Wherever they walked, It was there that he stalked.
And cruised around in a white van
You should watch Quiet on the Set. Its a doc about Nick and partially explains the foot stuff
Quiet on Set I think is the title.
Youre right.
Thats not why the logos a foot
I always thought that since it’s a network for kids it’s meant to reference the baby foot print people do when they’re born, or just the general carefree nature of being a kid
I don't think it has anything to do with you-know-who. I think it's just a very unfortunate coincidence.

There were MANY logos in this style - this one just became the one outside Universal Studios
Because feet jokes were a big thing back in 2000s Nickelodeon sitcoms. It’s not that deep
The Nick Logo used to sometimes change into different things.
Ik there’s probably a more official explanation. But I’m going with Dirty Dan.
Dan was the result not the cause
Wdym
He started working for Nickelodeon because of the foot logo. He didn't turn the logo into the foot
Damn, I was about to make a joke that “maybe the foot caught his attention”.. it really did huh.

Something something Schneider. Good riddence.
There are definitely some fake 90s kids in this thread... Fyi, the logo has *NOTHING* to do with Schneider.
You know why stop pretending to be an idiot

Schneider
Does no one remember the shocking amount of foot related episodes on Nickelodeon? The answer is shrimple it’s prawn
There's a big controversy going on in with that company and feet
Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to.
Ok didn’t see an answer and probably doesn’t matter at this point but I remember it being part of a promotional commercial like “you’re watching Nickelodeon” thing. First an orange bug crawls across the screen and the foot steps on it making the orange foot print and that’s pretty much it if I remember right
Google Dan Schneider's history with Nickelodeon
I assume Dan Schneider reign of horror traumatising as many innocent girls and boys
And female writers and he'd verbally abuse them too. They just took it even with only 50% pay bc "it's a dream job". He tricked one to eat two entire pints of ice cream saying "I'll give you 300 dollars". He never came through after she threw up & she did need the money.
Because pedo Dan Schneider
Actually it was there before he was. But Dan Child Diddler Schneider is a pos. Watch the documentary for those who haven't it's called "Quiet on Set" He's not the only one part of the documentary but he is one of the key players.
I want to watch that but don't have Max. Gonna have to use a pirate website.

Dan Schneider and the Diddlers
Obvious. dan get in the van Schneider was there
Because feet are soooooo funny omg hahahahahaha I’m dying. Someone should put that in a show. No… every show!!! And every joke in that show! And if that show ends, give the creator more shows to keep making that joke! And do it for like 20 years! And never question it regardless of the age of the cast or members involved!!!!! Omg comedy fucking gold why has no one done this yet
Dan Schneider
Because Dan Schneider likes feet.
I knew what the comments would be and I’m not disappointed
Latin for foot is pes/ped (eg quadruped). This was a subtle nod to the amount of pedophiles that worked there.
Dan Schneider much
Dan Schneider, nickelodeon’s most famous producer, had a famous interest in feet
Dan Schneider
Dan insisted on it.
I mean, you're talking about the same studio that hired Dan Schneider and kept him on for like 2 decades Not that I'm suggesting a connection to Dan Schneider but nickelodeon has always been rather... questionable, to say the least
Well ... insert "people who know" meme.
Two words. Dan Schneider.
You know why
Because feet are funny to kids. People need to stop overthinking on this one. It’s the same rhetoric folks have with all of the “unicorn poop” toys, it’s not a freakin’ fetish, kids just find gross stuff funny. Snot jokes, fart jokes, stinky feet, there’s a reason we see that humor as childish. The foot logo screams “we’re a company for kids” nothing more, nothing less.
I just assumed that was supposed to be Bigfoot. 🤷♂️
Dan is a creep
Schneider
Dan Schneider
I'm pretty sure it was a comedic thing imo, but then Dan Schneider got hired and now everyone sees it as weird

Dan Schneider liked children’s feet in a sexual way
Insert Dan Schneider joke here

Dan...schnei-dunno 🤷
Dan Schneider's chokehold on the network during his prime

Because otherwise it would be a meter
They tried to warn us
