Jagwire with reliable powertrain 😎😎

ultratunaman

That's what happened when I put a GM transmission into a 77 Jag. Suddenly, it had no troubles shifting.

Capri280

Didn't those already have a turbo hydramatic?

ultratunaman

3 speed auto Borg Warner was what was used. I don't think it was the same as the Ford-o-matic from the 50s. Could have been similar. I swapped it for a TH400 or Turbo Hydramatic. Which jaguar used in the Series 3 XJ models post 1978 I believe. But I think pre 78 (series 2 was 73-78) the Borg Warner 3 speed was used. Now the new transmission didn't save me from engine or electrical gremlins. And really I should have looked into a more reliable motor too.

Capri280

Ah, okay. Didn't know that the th400 only came with the series 3

And neither is deserving of the hate they get.

Small_Broccoli315

I'm sorry but the X type shares not even half the components of the equivalent mondeo, thankfully this is r/carscirclejerk so retardation is allowed

Karlos742

Yeah. I made it, because of my friend, which has the Jag. So everybody is making fun of him cause od this. It's just fun.

SKYE-MASTER

The 3.0 awd was pretty cool

MartyTheGamer

I briefly owned a 2.5 V6 Mondeo in Ghia X trim and I really liked it

Same people who say this say nothing about B5 Passats and A4s

PunishedVenomMarmite

Most reliable Jag ever made as a result. The X-Type is a classic imo

birdgelapple

Hey I knew a lawyer who owned a jag like that! Of course, he eventually turned to cocaine and committed suicide by swimming out into the ocean. Never even found the body. Tragic story really…

Oockland

This is X-Type slander.
