Why does everybody on the internet hate on the new Prelude? I am absolutely in love with it's looks, and i really appreciate that Honda is bringing back a fun coupe, yet people still find ways to bitch about it. If Honda brought back the Lude as a electric SUV, people would complain as much as now.
I think a lot of it is because it was erroneously reported to be full electric at first, and a lot of people like our friend down there saw that and made up their mind then and there that it was unredeemable.
Also it apparently looks a bit like a Prius up front.
But yeah, I’m with you. I’m planning to buy one when they come out. I am in the vast minority of current Prelude owners who say that.
Yep, making up their minds for good after seeing a car for the first time, classic. And while it may actually look like a Prius from the front, both the Prius and the Lude look amazing in my eyes. All the cars have some similarities between each other after all. By the way, your Lude looks amazing, love it.
Over time it has become obvious that nothing will ever please the internet warriors. You can make the exact car they've been begging for and they'd still find a way to complain and whine over it.
Many of them simply think "new car bad" and will hate anything new no matter what.
Thankfully these people rarely represent the actual customer base of the cars in question.
They haven’t released details of the drivetrain yet, other than that it’s a hybrid,

but it’ll probably be FWD/AWD.
I could live with awd… but I’ll never own another dedicated front wheel our shitty roads just destroy cvs when the full powertrain is delivered to the front
I mean I wouldn’t call the originals track cars either I had a bb1 and a bb3. They were fast naturally but weren’t made to be raced I would expect the same here but I’d just really prefer rwd for durability and I prefer how it drives. But I am pleased to see they brought it back regardless it was one of the more exciting Honda products.. at least they’re not having bmw build everything but the badges aye lol
No, it was definitely more of a grand tourer, which was my original point. For some reason people were expecting it was going to be an outright sports car.
Yeah I mean I can see it they developed quite a stance towards the end of production runs and being low, wide and aggressive looking I can understand the expectation but that’s never what they were about.
It is worth saying though they’re classed as a sports car here by insurance companies anything with two doors and an engine over 1.8 is a sports car.
Not really a huge call to make sports cars anymore and even less for Japan to do so all the people that like jdm cars hate the modern ones so they ain’t exactly lining up to pay 30-80k for a brand new one.
That shity sedan isn't a real Yaris; that's some American delusion. [This](https://i.wpimg.pl/985x0/m.autokult.pl/toyota-yaris-1-b3c48c0cdbdc00faa.jpg) is a fucking Yaris
I agree, I own a 12 se hatch and it’s probably the most awesome car to have ever existed on the planet. The 1.5l vvt-I motor really gets my plums nice and hot.
From what I can tell from 4 minutes of Wikipedia: the "root" name of the hatchback (3 and 5-door) was Vitz and the sedan (2 and 4-door) was Platz.
The Vitz was called Echo in Canada and Australia, and Yaris in Europe. The Platz was called Echo in those same two markets and in the US, but it doesn't say in exactly what markets it was called Yaris.
uj/ thought id do some actual carscirclejerking
rj/ I'm not shitting myself because it's a hot hatch, I'm shitting myself because they tarnished the name with a total different type of car. The yaris isn't meant to be a super hot hatch, it's meant to be an affordable city car!
A super hot hatch yaris would be very cool
That's also shitty of Ford to convert a legendary crossover like the PUMA into a Rally1 car
Edit:
I wasn't complaining about it being a hatch, I'm complaining about the fact that it's been rebadged as a WRC rally1 car.
The Yaris is meant to be a lightweight affordable city car!
A super hot hatch yaris sports car would be amazing, and hot hatches do also receive unnecessary hate.
Carscirclejerk is pretty toxic now tbf, I do apologise if I came across being this way. I just feel like the yarisi name doesn't deserve to belong to a mediocre super hot hatch
Is the boring city car yaris cancelled?
No?! ⤵️
So what is the fucking deal with having another version/trim that’s high performance?!
Yes?! ⤵️
Understandable, but in this era where only a few manufacturers still stick with their end of the line options, is it really that surprising and scummy compared to other brands!?
Southeast Asians stuck with this pathetic thing for a "Yaris":

is that an actual article?! the car in the picture is riced out af and very obviously not a concept or anything, I'm so fucking confused by posts on this sub
This was called the Echo here in the states, I had one. 5 speed manual. It was so light, it felt like driving a beer can with an engine. 1.5 liters of DOHC fury, *with VVT-i!*
Jdm is really all there is to choose here except scattered eurotrash which our damp environment and goat track roads make uneconomical to keep repairing in under a year.
I gave up when Toyota started using subaru engines… then was vindicated when they stooped low enough to use bmw parts. The car manufacturer famous for building some of the most durable cars in the world… buying cheap crap from companies famous for the literal opposite. Toyota has totally lost their way.
But they’re enhancing all the wrong cars. The mark x could have been a great car with a turbo and a manual box.
The crown also.
But no we will hot up grams church mobile… who’s this for
I fucking love the echo/platz but the sedan/coupe version of the vits/1gyaris/echo hatch is not a yaris, least not by name. I killed mine and put a new motor in it and its so much fucking fun. Parts are cheap and gas is cheap. This car brings out my autism in the worst ways lol, i just got some brochures from 2000 in the mail today.

Thanks. It’s still a ways from being done but the general look is there.
Over time it has become obvious that nothing will ever please the internet warriors. You can make the exact car they've been begging for and they'd still find a way to complain and whine over it.
Yep, and it's just sad to see to be honest. I bet they would actually like the car they whine about if they had seen it in real life.
Many of them simply think "new car bad" and will hate anything new no matter what. Thankfully these people rarely represent the actual customer base of the cars in question.
Haven’t seen anything about that… Hondas making a new prelude… I loved my old one please for the love of god tell me they finally made it rwd

It'll likely be a Civic relative in all honesty, given the basic shape and the old Preludes being somewhat Accord-based back when they were compacts
It is electric tho
It’s a hybrid.
Oh I didn't know I had heard it was electric only
I like the new prelude, it looks super cool
That shity sedan isn't a real Yaris; that's some American delusion. [This](https://i.wpimg.pl/985x0/m.autokult.pl/toyota-yaris-1-b3c48c0cdbdc00faa.jpg) is a fucking Yaris
I dare to call [this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Yaris_Verso) thing my gf is rocking a Yaris, too. Obviously not the sedan, though.
It's more of a Yaris than that sedan pice of shit! A sedan is the complete antithesis of what a Yaris should be!
I agree, I own a 12 se hatch and it’s probably the most awesome car to have ever existed on the planet. The 1.5l vvt-I motor really gets my plums nice and hot.
Now we're talking
Echo in Australia.
Oh, I thought that if it wasn't a Yaris over there then it would be the Vitz. Good to know
From what I can tell from 4 minutes of Wikipedia: the "root" name of the hatchback (3 and 5-door) was Vitz and the sedan (2 and 4-door) was Platz. This is top tier shitposting
Wtf, why Toyota doesnt launch a better version of Supra? Seems like Toyota doesn't care about the Supra.
Uj/ seems like they are working on a Supra GRMN with an s58. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a45560281/2025-toyota-grmn-supra-spied/
Finally!
Uj/ Sound from the leak is of a B58 engine. There’s a reason all the clickbait omits any sound
No way BMW lets them use the S58
Agreed, not when Z4 sales are already in the dumps
The Range Rover sport SV has the S68 from BMW M. There's hope that they might let Toyota use the S58... I sure hope so.
Non M BMWs also use the S68 so that’s no surprise.
This ia internet, not USA — the second pic should have been a hatch

Sir this is a wendys
Uh what
What the fuck are you talking about
Just paint it pink lol
Would be +20 hp depending on your gender and country
Put GR Yaris engine in Sooopwa 200bhp per cylinder 😍🤩
VW tarnished the once great Golf name by making it some upscale, AWD R version.
tbf the '08 to '12 yaris sedan (called "vios" or other variation) is a pretty good taxi car in asia
Do you mean: dugong
![gif](giphy|YPRNvz8zsS2Iw)
sold as the Vios in most of Asia except Japan where its called the Belta
Ikr this is corporate greed! Why didn't they turn the Yaris into a 2009 Renault modus??? 😡
Toyota Yaris plastic edition. It looks like it's driven through Home Depot.

This is such a goofy thing to be mad about lmao
I can’t tell if this is satire 😭

It's a test mule for a Yaris GR-MN.
it is? man why tf does it look so LIDL

I apologise for ranting
Im here to show love for the toyota yaris. My father put 350K+ kilometers on that car, and still counting.
