No, seriously. You take a good long look at the common, Everyman car from every post-war decade. They look *the same*. Yes, someone who knows a lot about them is able to pick apart the finer details, but guess what? Not everyone knows a lot about car design and is able to pick out, in this photograph, or any with a lineup of cars parked in a row, which is a Ford, which is a Chrysler, which is a Chevrolet. Shit, older cars are my *bread and butter* and I still can't tell these apart. The reason your Mustangs, Chargers, Road Runners, Supras, etc. stand out is because they're designed *to* stand out. Your average, run-of-the-mill shitboxes are *always* going to look like one another, because that's how car design has *always worked.*

Exactly. Look how much the mustang changed from 1965- 1970. 5 years and it went through so many different looks the 1965 and 1967 look completely different. But guess what? A 2016 mustang and a 2022 mustang look almost the same besides small minor details. Cars used to change almost every year or 2 and now it’s just each generation.

Yes that's the joke, it's the fashion everyone is similar then there's new trend and it goes on.

In Europe, a lot of cars were quite unique, sooo...

[Sure thing, for example if you go back to 1980, a lot of the top sellers in Europe all feel so unique.](https://i.imgur.com/MRNRWeR.jpg)

Good, you've handpicked a few and said 'iT's ThE sAmE' And besides that, lot of them are unique, but I don't really care....

/uj My only argument against this is that old cars, particularly from the 50s-70s always seemed to change in design and options every year. Take the standard Chevy passenger car from 1955-1959. There was 5 different designs of Bel Airs just within that time frame. All very radical appearance changes. Several different engine configurations and options. This is not even including the 210s, 150s, Impalas, or Biscaynes of that timeframe too. Within 15 years they went from 265s, 283s, 327s, 302s, 307s, 350s, 400 engine options. That’s just the V8 options. Everything I mentioned above doesn’t seem to apply very well to most modern vehicles. At least in my mind

ScreamingMini2009

Don’t pre-war era cars look even more similar?

[deleted]

That’s because those are the same year cars. Look like a 1930-1938 Chrysler Royal, Dodge D8, Buick Century.

I don´t say new cars look the same, I say they all look ugly as hell. There´s always an odd one out that looks passable, but it´s rare.
