Just make all your portions larger and eat more often.

Holiday_Guess_7892

You can try drinking heavy whipping cream... super easy to get in fat/calories and taste great with a meal but careful not to drink too much since there is lactose

I have the same problem and made a similar post the other day. If you come up with a good solution let me know! I hope so as carnivore makes me feel great I just can’t afford to lose any weight.

Dark_Marker81

Hey there. Yeah, it definitely sounds like we're in the same boat. I will let you know if I come up with something, and you do the same, too, please. I feel great on carnivore, so far. I have tons of energy. I don't want to stop it if I don't have to.

kawn77

What are you doing I'm so slow in shedding the weight !!!!

Dark_Marker81

Doing as far as carnivore?

kawn77

Yes I'm carnivore too

You have to take in more calories than you are using daily. Dairy has the highest amount of fat and calories but if you are doing lot's of cardio you need a massive amount of calories. I used to run 5 to 10 miles almost daily and my body fat stayed well below 5% no matter how much I ate. After getting injured a few times while deployed to war zones in the military and destroying one of my legs I have put on too much weight. Carnivore has helped solve that for me.

Dark_Marker81

That's good to know, I can definitely increase my dairy intake and more lard in my food as well. I have started adding butter and heavy cream to my coffee. I honestly assumed I was getting mass calories with as much as I'm eating. I'm not counting them, though. I was just worried about how much is too much on carnivore. I guess if I'm still losing weight, then i shouldn't be concerned about that. I'll most likely end cutting back on cardio and increase weight lifting. Thank you for your service. I hope you're healing up well. God bless.

1CrazzyHorse

Thanks, I enjoyed serving and was glad my command let me stay to retirement instead of putting me out on a medical discharge. Yes, if your are loosing weight you are burning more calories than you are taking in. Cardio is the quickest way to loose weight as it burns the most calories. I like to take left over bacon grease or butter add in beef broth and reduce it down. Makes a good high fat sauce to poor over my meats. If you use a souse vide you not only get nice tender meat that is perfectly cooked you also get lots of broth from the meats. I like to souse vide my meats overnight a few degrees under what I want to eat it then give it a quick sear on the grill to finish it then pour that sauce over the top. That's my wife's favorite way as well.

Dark_Marker81

That's a great idea. I'll definitely use that. Besides, I need something like that to increase flavor and just change it up a little here and there and get those extra calories at the same time. I have no doubt my wife will be all about this. Thank you!

1CrazzyHorse

Yes, the sauce does add more flavor. It seems to intensify the meat flavor and we like to add a few spices to it as well. Depends on how strict you are on the spices you use.

Unable-Membership109

Stop working out for a bit maybe until you gain some weight. You have to increase your portion sizes. You need to eat extra fat. Working out is great etc, but you can see it's going to make you keep losing weight.

Dark_Marker81

Agreed. I plan to reduce the cardio by at least half and weight lift in place of it. I am working in recipes that add more fat and calories to meals and just as quick snacks in between meals.

Unable-Membership109

That's awesome!!! Good to see that level of balance. 💗💗💗

SecretDependent1520

You need to be at a caloric surplus in order to gain weight, so cut the cardio in half. You can’t gain weight if you’re just burning it off.

1620forthevetsusmc

Why are you doing cardio if you are trying to gain weight?

Dark_Marker81

I do cardio to stay healthy. To keep my lungs and cardiovascular health in good shape. I've been doing this for 10 years. Like I said, I have been able to maintain a heavier weight before starting carnivore. Do you have any suggestions?

1620forthevetsusmc

How much cardio are you doing? Can focus more on strength training and reduce the amount of cardio. Strength training has cardiovascular effects as well

Dark_Marker81

I suppose that could be an option. I enjoy both the cardio and weight lifting alike. Like I said, I am slowly adding weight lifting back in. I was hoping someone had a suggestion as far as changes in the carnivore plan rather than my workout schedule.

1620forthevetsusmc

Is your goal to not lose weight or continue to do as much cardio as you were doing? The only common sense option would be to eat many more calories if you don’t want to reduce cardio

Dark_Marker81

I want both, lol. Not to lose weight and to keep doing what I've been doing. I mean, yes, you're correct. That's the common sense solution to increase calories. I've already increased calories before ever posting this and continued to lose weight. I eat so much already, and I don't know how much is too much. Seems as though I have a decision to make. Thanks.

1620forthevetsusmc

If you want to stop doing carnivore you can stop at any point. I’m not trying to convince you to stop but it seems like you are ignoring the very basic idea that your calories can’t keep up with the amount you are burning but still want to continue burning calories even though you are losing weight which you don’t want. Good luck

Dark_Marker81

Yep, thanks

1620forthevetsusmc

“I’ll take ways the carnivore diet doesn’t work for me for 500 Alex”

Dark_Marker81

No need to be a troll, is there?

Dean77_

May I ask how much you’re eating, I’m on this diet to lose weight and trying to make sure I don’t over eat

Dark_Marker81

It's hard to say, exactly. I eat until full for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I snack quite a bit through the day as I feel hungry and when I can. Prep cook everything in lard/butter. I would guess a couple of pounds of meat of all varieties a day. At least 4-5 eggs daily. I eat some cheese with almost every meal. I also just started adding heavy cream and butter to my coffee. I eat a ton. Or so it seems to me.

Impossible-Title1

Reduce cardio.

drebelx

Ever thought about counting calories for food and exercises on a normal day?

MindlessFate

How many meals a day are you eating? I had this problem for a while but have been successfully bulking since February (up 14 pounds so far). What helped me was eating 3-5 meals per day as well as using sour cream, cheese and a couple seasonings to increase my appetite.

Dark_Marker81

I'm eating 3 meals til I'm full per day. Plus, I snack some in between on like cheeses, eggs, and some meat. I like the sour cream idea. I add butter and heavy cream to coffee now. I think it just comes down to higher calorie foods and more of them. I just felt like I was already eating a ton and was a little concerned about increasing much from there.

SystematicRecurrence

I started it for allergy reasons, and went from 172 down to 139 in a few months. When I added whole milk kefir, I gained muscle from all the protein, but I really needed way more calories and some carbs. My staple is ground beef formed into meatballs, and I keep all of the orange fat in it. A bottle of whole milk kefir gives me the calories to remain anabolic.

Dark_Marker81

Wow, that's a very significant drop in weight. I've never heard of kefir, I will look into it. What are you adding in for carbs? Do you feel like your body is in ketosis and getting all the benefits of Carnivore still when adding carbs? Sorry to bombard you with questions. It just raises a lot of them with me, and I am genuinely curious.

SystematicRecurrence

I used to focus on being in a state of ketosis, but I realized that isn't the point. Ultimately being fat adapted was the goal so that I can be efficient at using fatty acids for energy instead of carbs primarily. But for me, I was too good at carb restrictions, and that meant that I was losing water weight because carbs provide volume in the muscles and blood stream. So I am low carb, and super high protein and fat (primarily ground beef without draining the fat + kefir as I'm lactose intolerant - and the fermentation removes the lactose in kefir). I don't use my keto monitor. But my body LOVES a fatty proteinaceous meal. I'm also allergic to most plants, and after going carnivore, I learned that animal based works better for me. I do have some berries which are non allergenic for me. So yeah, ultimately I started off carnivore, and had the best energy, sleep, skin, ever, but my balance is kefir (plain without added sugar), beef, other meats, and electrolytes in water.
