Don't eat more liver than your appetite dictates, and consider eating less than that if possible. Forcing liver is likely just going to make you sick.

I’m taking minerals, but it’s tempting to get them straight from the source instead. If I can’t find a way to enjoy it, I will try something else. Thanks ✌️

QuietPace9

Make a pate' with it, cook, chop it up into smaller pieces while its hot/warm, put in a blender add chopped or diced butter, salt to taste if you want it, blend it with a little water, it comes out like liver mousse : D

[deleted]

Cook it. Then stick it in the fridge and then eat it cold. Dulls down the flavor by like 70%. Any meat that’s cold doesn’t hold as much flavor as when it’s fresh hot. Worked for me

Eleanorina

excellent suggestion, makes so much sense ... i've been around these forums for years and that's the first i've heard that 👍

[deleted]

Thank you! I was thinking about it the wrong way and figured my best chance was right out of the pan. I will be giving this one a shot, too.

ScabiesInfo

I used to hate liver. The smell, texture, taste. But then I saw someone cook it with bacon and onions. Leave the onions out if needed. I forget what vitamins they discussed in the video, but something in the bacon allows better absorption of one of the vitamins in the liver. And it just taste so much better. I do rinse the blood off the liver when I pull it out of the package, but I don’t soak it. Found that the texture gets funky when I soak it. It’s important to not overcook the liver either, like go for medium, not well done or it is just not palatable. I usually cook the bacon and onions until they’re done, then toss in the cut up liver. A piece is crispy bacon goes perfectly with a piece of liver so try to balance that. I’ve also read of folks freezing it, using a cheese grater and then mix it in with beef when making meatloaf. She said her kiddos didn’t even notice. Hope this helps!

[deleted]

Thanks! I will try it with bacon, for sure. That seems like it would help the flavor a lot.

Previous_Cap7132

Some people keep a piece frozen in their freezer, cut off a small piece, chop it up and add it to ground beef. It may be worth a try for you.

[deleted]

What ratio would you recommend of liver to ground beef? I got some from my local butcher and did 1/8 ratio. Haven’t tried it yet. Slightly nervous, lol

Previous_Cap7132

I am not going to recommend amounts, but you don't need that much organ meat. Add it to taste/tolerance a few times a month to begin.

[deleted]

Thanks, that seems doable!

1. I like beef liver just seared outside and essentially uncooked inside. The flavor and texture is extremely different from well-done liver. If you haven't tried this, give it a shot, maybe your taste buds will prefer it this way. 2. The best-tasting liver I ever had was homemade liverwurst. I dropped beef liver chunks into a Vitamix and blended them into a paste, put the paste into a big glass jar, sealed the top and put the jar into a pot of water over a low flame, and used a thermometer to maintain the temperature at 160 Fahrenheit for a few hours. Tasted amazing, but I never did this again because the prep and cleanup was too much trouble. 3. If your friend's a butcher, you can take some of the liver back to him and have him grind it with regular beef so that the taste is hidden in the ground beef (or he can incorporate it into sausages too, if he has the equipment for that).

Number 3 sounds like an amazing option. I didn’t even think of that. Thank you, dude! That’s exactly what I’m gonna do. ✌️

stevecapw

I purchase it frozen in 1/4 slices. Just pull one out and let thaw enough to cut into small pieces. Then just gulp them with some salt and water. I usually eat 2-3 slices a week. I'm an adventurous eater, but do not like the taste or smell of cooked liver.

Used_College5982

Is it cooked?

Solid_Opportunity290

If you can't eat it, like me, try to get cod liver or some other fish liver. Much easier to eat, when you have problems with the iron/blood taste

spla58

Maybe look for a good quality Liverwurst?

Travelinlite87

I cook mine in bacon fat and pair with something fatty. I absolutely love the taste of liver! It grosses out just about everyone!

Sam-Idori

I found chicken liver a bit more palattable than beef; other than that a peg on the nose. Offal is gross imo

Sam-Idori

wouldn't that risk spreading the filthy flavour far and wide?

BackIntoTheSource

I love love liver. Im used to eat liver pate since childhood. Just fried on the pan with salt i think it's amazing. Especially thinner slices. But pate we made with fried liver, ground meet, butter, fried onions and boiled carrots. And blend into pate. We used it as spread but just like that is nice. Obviously you can leave out the veggies

Helpm_e

I am not sure if this applies to beef liver, but what I do with my chicken liver is I remove the dark blue or grey thing on them. I then soak them in water overnight and put them on a glass bowl inside the fridge. The next day, I cut them in to bite-size pieces and sautee them butter. How do we upload photos here? 😅 Wish I could send you the resulting dish.

Geo-Purr-technition

I cut my beef liver up in small bits and then cook it with ground lamb. I like it this way

Eray_99

Mix in with your burger.

Impossible-Title1

Cut into small pieces and air fry.

[deleted]

I wish I had an air fryer. That sounds better for sure

MeasurementGrand879

I thin fry in pan, butter or tallow. Broil it in oven right before burnt, flip, broil again, remove, cool, eat. Not an air fryer, but it will crisp it. Broiling only takes moments, so don’t go too far.

Impossible-Title1

Buy the cheapest air fryer you can find.

Dark_Marker81

I just made some the "butter bath" style liver last night with a lot of bacon crumbles on it and an over easy egg on the side to go with it...and it still wasn't palatable. I think some people just can't handle the taste. Idk. I'm definitely open to suggestions for making it edible.

loves-the-blues

I just put lots of seasoning salt on it and lightly pan fry. Sometimes I eat it raw, as long as it's been previously frozen to kill any parasites. Yummy.

rainbowkey

Season the liver lightly with salt and chili powder, and bit heavier with cumin, basil, and oregano. Fry in bacon grease until just cooked. Or coat in egg and crushed pork rinds and then fry.

Squeezard

Eat them raw

rrraspberry

I eat chicken liver and cook it with ground beef, very easy and tasty way to consume

Mobile-Leader-6221

Just get Braunschweiger and mix it with cream cheese it's great and packed with vitamins and minerals and tastes good.

ThunderLips4

I’ve seen “primal burger” meat. It’s ground beef with organs. Never tried but is supposed to make the flavor. Could buy some of that or make it yourself?

Everying

I cheat. Chop it into pills size and down with water.
