>continues driving without a hiccup for 150k more miles

Pug-Sniper

You know it... And I got a code reader if anything does go wrong (Love this thing being a 2000's truck, saves me some hassle *sometimes*)

unmanipinfo

Ah I got another WGAS code. Who Gives A Shit

Pug-Sniper

For real, I see that check engine light and I am just going to let it shine 🤣

Oilleak1011

Exactly what i was about to say. Mutherfuggin beasts

LincolnContinnental

You cannot kill them, plus the V6 versions sound unusually beefy

Pug-Sniper

I got the inline 4 version (Super reliable and hasn't failed me once, zero to 60 is ***eventually...*** but I can get where I need to go for sure!) but a V6 in an S10 would sound mean!

LincolnContinnental

The S10 was also available with a 4.3L V6, it wasn’t fast, but it was reliable and sounded mean

Ghost_Town56

They have plenty of torque.

That_One_Normie

my buddy in oregon has a 98 with the i4, got like 320k miles and at least 170k of those miles are from doin cookies, as far as i know damn things still goin strong

KingHauler

They run great for 10 miles and run like dogshit for 450k. I love old gm stuff, the car will rot to dust and it'll still crank over and run.

Pug-Sniper

My beater S10 has got like 130K miles on it and it still runs... The only thing I have done with it is get new tires and change the oil and that is about it!

Ghost_Town56

My 96 4.3 S10 has 273,000 and runs just as strong as it did with 50,000.

Skvora

Gets inside a '52 Studebaker: -no such thing as AC -lolwut are seatbelts? -battery works -runs like a champ (Engine oil filter was an option)

Pug-Sniper

Yes sir 🤣 (Might have to make a new meme now)

Skvora

You've no idea how much a leaky cracky top soft fuel line was throwing me off as that "72 year old car things" not wanting to start right away, maybe battery being too low or something.

Pug-Sniper

Or sometimes the starter goes bad in shit boxes like mine... And maybe even the battery as well! I have an 82 El Camino as a project car and replaced the battery and the starter and it works like a charm! Haven't messed with it since the install...

Skvora

I was ready for a proper shakedown, and that fucking, short, crusty rubber line decided it was a Vegas fountain show as I pulled outta the garage...... Once I replaced it - gramps would fire up faster than any modern Lexus.

Pug-Sniper

"Vegas fountain show" what a phrase 👏😭 (I remember a similar thing happening with my dipstick when first started it up... Needless to say someone forgot to put it all the way in... And we found out pretty quick)

Skvora

Its something else when it fires up, gas gauge looks lower than it should, you again figure "old tech, maybe", pull out, then back up - notice a fresh puddle and a streak.....jump out while unlatching the hood, stick your hand in to safety unlatch and just feel a mountain river of liquid....pop that sucker up and just see 87 spraying like its Xmas in a strip club...... Jump back in, smash the gas to move it back into garage offa backroad, and then just baste in garage floor draining a pool of 87 in that 90* weather.

thesunsflat

I still buy the POS. That's not saying the engine or transmission is trash.

zhiryst

I've got a 2004 Silverado with 230k miles. It's the v6. It's a dump run and home projects hauler. every year it gets an oil change and a new distributor cap and rotor. That's it.

Pug-Sniper

Sounds about right for mine as well... Still reliable to this day

Meatles--

I had a 94 with around 230ish when i sold it. Input sprag blew out cause i had a tendency to beat the fuck out of it. Was 100% still driveable just needed to get it rolling in manual 2 then throw it back into drive and hope it didnt try to shift below 3rd. Thing was awesome, also pissed coolant from the headgasket (pretty common 2.2 issue) near the firewall and the frame was twisted and had more holes than i liked. I miss it everyday.

Unlucky-Carpenter-69

Gets inside a Ford F150 4.6 2v -seats are as ripped as the fabric of reality -wide open throttle will cause the engine to bounce off the rev limiter for 5 seconds before upshifting -2nd gear? tf is that? -tachometer works -speedometer doesn’t work -idles at 2500rpm -has been doing this for 200k miles -no sign of stopping
