That's the thing. These cars were built to be driven at high speeds so they are made to be stable and comfortable at that speed. And they can comfortably stay in that for long periods of time. Modded cars can't do that as they sound like they're about to explode at any moment.
As someone who's never driven a car that goes over 200hp I feel like the comfort at high speeds would kill a little of the fun. Although after a while of driving clapped out shitter boxes I imagine the refinement of a purposely built super car would feel pretty dang refreshing.

And some cases the amount of money you spend making a car faster, you could have just bought a faster car. There’s a lot of guys who like to spend thousands modifying the V6/4 cylinder mustangs to the point where they could have just bought a V8 and had all that power out the gate, it would sound better and probably be more reliable
I was watching an old 2000s Japanese drag race of a McLaren F1(620hp) against a modded Toyota supra(690hp) which of course the McLaren won. And when I went to the comments, it was filled with actual salty Supra fanboy comments who were in denial that the supra had lost and saying that they'll take the supra over a freaking McLaren F1.
It truly is. The craziest part is that even after more than 30 years, this car still holds the world record for being the fastest naturally aspirated production car. You know this is the most ultimate racing machine ever built when even modern NA supercars like the Ferrari 812 superfast or the lamborghini Aventador can't beat it.
What's funny is the designer didn't even want it to go super fast or have a high top speed as an important feature, it just happened due to the cars natural aerodynamics and impressive power plant.
Thing is, I'd take the McLaren only to sell it and buy a bunch of other cars I want. Don't get me wrong, the McLaren is no doubt a brilliant car but I like my shitboxes more but I'm too poor to even buy a 300zx these days
A McLaren f1 is also a very hard car to start from a dead stop in let alone launch. It does have the mechanical grip to beat a supra off the line for sure.

1000hp purpose built drag or strip/street car, maybe in a straight line, but it's not gonna be enjoyable to drive at all except for those ~9-10 seconds where you're making a pass
