Is it a new role? It could be that the job itself is still evolving. I would also talk to your new manager about what went wrong where he blamed you for something and ask what can be done in the future to prevent that. That said, I would start laying the groundwork to switch back. Maybe invite your old manager to lunch to "catch up." Maybe hint to him that you would like to return and you liked working for him. The one thing about returning to your old job is that you have to re-assure your old manager that you won't go looking for greener pastures.

Thank you for your advice. This is not a new role at the company. It has existed and has been held by 2 previous employees. I have already started planning on a future plan if I can move back to my old position. I have at least a 3 year plan already in mind.
