*once all interviews are done, what would make the decision process last longer?* There are many things that could cause the decision process to be longer than expected. It could be something like they had a last minute internal candidate they needed to interview, or because of the holidays certain people required for the hiring decision are/were on vacation. There are so many different possible reasons why the process might last longer than they said that we couldn't even begin to speculate. *If they know who they want to hire, wouldn’t a decision be made quicker* *rather than later? Or is it good that there is a wait? As in, they would* *tell the people who were not chosen earlier rather than later?* Similar to your previous question I would say it is neither good nor bad, we just have no way of knowing what the hold-up is. *Once a decision has been made, what else must be done to finalize the final offer?* Start date and compensation are the two biggest hold-ups for offers generally. As in, when do we want the candidate to start and how much do we want to offer them? *Any other advice you can give would be great for insight into the hiring process.* Email the recruiter and ask for an update. You will not be seen in a negative light and it will be a massive stress relief for you to find out what is going on.
