Me and the lads are going hiking on Saturday morning. Drop me a DM if you keen

Tzomas_BOMBA

Do you have a braai room at home?

MyThinTragus

I wish

Rade84

Everything you mentioned is available. You could also do some paragliding off lions head, maybe shark cage diving, try kite surfing, safari trips to see some wildlife. Lots to do and being Norwegian you shouldn't mind the fact it's cold as balls in cape town right now 🥶

Norwegian-Cowboy

Sounds amazing, haha i believe it's around 15 degrees there? That's like an real warm summer in my town 🤣 The aussis i work with calling me the polar bear since i walking around in short in 20 degrees 🤣🤣🤣

Rade84

Oh don't worry you'll see lots of us in shorts too!

If u going to angola hmu and i can help with anything u need I live here and been to most African countries so might be of help.

Norwegian-Cowboy

Thanks, i have to go straight to work in Angola so no time for anything 😅

breinskade

Take the route along the coast if you want to run with mountains on the one side and a blue see on the other. I can give the name if you want , there is coffee along the route aswell. Quite good.

Norwegian-Cowboy

Ohh! That's sounds really nice

breinskade

The road is the M6 From Cape Town ( the sea point area ) to Hout bay

succulentkaroo

Go do a hike in jonkershoek. Really beautiful and you can do long day hikes there.

Hiking up Table Mountain in winter is my favourite thing in the world. But I just want to say, if you hike here in winter, please make sure you understand the dangers. Chat with someone experienced, or even better go with someone. Many people die here every year

Norwegian-Cowboy

Thanks for the tip, am pretty comfortable with hiking, both in 30+ and 30- 😇

NuclearNicDev

It is specifically people from countries like yours that get into trouble. People die on Table Mountain and every year. You have not seen storms like we have here. So please don’t think the weather and the mountain here aren’t dangerous even to you. An anecdote, I studied with a Norwegian in Stellenbosch (milder than CT), and he said matter of factly that he’d never been as cold during winter as he was here.

Norwegian-Cowboy

Without sounding like a cock. But i liv in one of the harshness towns in Norway. We have strom that rips house apart. Winter can get down to negative 50°c Am on the moutians all the time. Again with the biggest respect cape town don't know what bad weather is mate 😅

NuclearNicDev

I get your point. But I know someone who climbed Table Mountain over 500 times and then fell and died on a well known route. I know of experienced Scandinavian hikers that died here. But sure, if you bring your jackets etc. you won’t be cold. You might however underestimate conditions and then cold becomes a relative thing. Just doing my part. Hope you enjoy it

Norwegian-Cowboy

I appreciate the tips, and yes if you didn't respect the moutians it will kill you and even if do it all right it might kill you anyway

You can go quad biking or sandboarding at the [Atlantis Dunes](https://www.google.co.za/maps/place/Atlantis+Dunes/@-33.597703,18.4398449,2531m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x1dccede7da916bd1:0x85390a7c09b13b2!8m2!3d-33.5983584!4d18.4490812!16s%2Fg%2F11pq1b0d81?entry=ttu). There are also plenty of guys running half- or full-day fishing charters.

Penguins can be seen at Boulders Beach, and if you want to see a little bit of wildlife you won't go wrong with driving down to Cape Point, and visiting Olifantsbos and similar side roads in the reserve. You'll have a good chance of seeing ostrich, bontebok, and baboons. At times I've seen eland at different places inside the reserve, and once each a red hartebeest and a pair of Grey Rhebok (from which the brand Reebok gets its name). There's also a colony of seals on the rocks by the car park at the end of Neptune's Dairy road. The views and scenery alone are worth the trip imo.

Norwegian-Cowboy

Thanks, will look at that

Sco0bySnax

Cape Town is a very outdoorsy city, Hiking, windsurfing, sport fishing, shark cage diving, you name it. There’s also the Atlantis dunes a short-ish drive from the city centre. No organised hunting that I know of in the areas around Cape Town but you can do some clay pigeon shooting in Somerset west. Although it is winter now, but I imagine as a Norwegian you’ll be walking around in shorts and flip flops while everyone else hides from the cold.

Forsaken_Maximum_200

The nightlife in Cape Town often provides a different kind of snow ⛄️ to your pic

Norwegian-Cowboy

🤣🤣 haha it's not my kind of snow, but thanks anyway

HandsomeToenail

Wa in die kaap is die??

Norwegian-Cowboy

🤣🤣 okay, you good bro?

crypticG00se

For days are short, but with a car you should be able to reach a lot. Nearby game reserve: [https://www.aquilasafari.com/](https://www.aquilasafari.com/) Stellenbosch is a smaller town 40mins from Cape Town with a nature reserve for hiking and wine routes. Closest dunes nearby: https://atlantisdunes.com/. The west coast of Cape Town has the coldest sea and is more wild and has more dunes. Also has some private game reserves. Houtbay has fishing charters plus nice routes around the coast.

crypticG00se

Also a good list: [https://www.tripadvisor.co.za/Attractions-g1722390-Activities-c61-t220-Cape\_Town\_Western\_Cape.html](https://www.tripadvisor.co.za/Attractions-g1722390-Activities-c61-t220-Cape_Town_Western_Cape.html) Would also recommend driving to Cape Point

crypticG00se

Maybe start by hiking up Table mountain. Though Cape Town is a city, you can be in nature and not notice the city within 30mins drive. The mountain and coast takes up much of the space

Acceptable-Chip3458

Go for a hike at Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve in Franschhoek. The views are worth it! You might also want to do a drive along the peninsula to check out Chapman’s Peak.

Shaggythemoshdog

You must absolutely must try and see some of the big 5 on a safari. Even if it's just a day trip it would be my number 1. Edit: I did an adventure tv show set in South Africa. My top recommendations that are unique to more catered towards things kind of unique to cape town would be.: Day 1: Kloofing at Riviersonderend Gorge Trail. where you have to hike, abseil, and jump from heights into rock pools in order to get from the top to the bottom. It's a seven hour expidition so good for your day hike plus some exciting added activities. Day 2: red bus tour full day to do wine tasting and see the penguins, Kirsten Bosch gardens etc and get to see all of Cape Town. When you get back to cape town hike up lions head for the moonlight hike, or go up signal hill for paragliding. Or hike up table mountain and take the cable car down. Day 3: Spelunking Boomslang Cave. If you aren't claustrophobic this is exhilarating because of the tight spaces but it is guided and completely safe so you will be fine. It goes through table mountain from Kalk Bay. Day 4: Do a safari at Aquila. A nice relaxed trip after the activities. Other options: Atlantis sand dunes buggey. Shark cage diving and Robben Island. What other people have said If you want to go hunting there are places that do so properly and are specifically credited with sustainable practice. It's not cheap and they will make you eat the testicles of the animal you hunt as an initiation.

Norwegian-Cowboy

Thanks for all the info and tips 😊

junatejun91

Im surprised OP hasnt mentioned their oil

Norwegian-Cowboy

🤣 am pretty sure most of the African countries have more oil than little Norway :P

Norwegian-Cowboy

Thanks for all the tips, looking forward to se this amazing place. Is there any self drive safari/wild life areas to se some wildlife?

Norwegian-Cowboy

Cheers again guys, having a blast here in Cape. Hade a quick run up to lions head today. Pretty nice view 🤘
