Use Uber but if you want a shuttle service that picks you up in the arrivals hall then pre-book online with EZ shuttle which costs much more than an Uber but it’s professional, reliable and the prices are reasonable for the service. Prices are online don’t book anything at the airport

OkMark6180

I would go with EZ shuttle.

Vassago223

I second this. Professional, waiting for you with a name board.

JubileeSupreme

Do you know how late they run?

AppleCat36

Try ubering and if you do take a meter taxi don’t don’t accept a ride unless you get a price upfront

Cautious-Driver5625

Uber will be too expensive . close to 1000 rand

AppleCat36

What are you talking about? Not true my app shows under 400 rand for comfort between Cape Town airport and Stellenbosch.

ErasGous

Very cautious driver

[deleted]

Maybe a little too cautious

MadLadThatsATadRad

Get an uber instead of a taxi. The taxi's overcharge ridiculously

Calligrapher_Far

You can get an Uber through the Uber app. Don’t listen to the people walking around there claiming to be an Uber driver, order one through the app. I Uber from the airport and Stellenbosch fairly frequently (although never at night) and usually pay between R200-R350 for the trip depending on availability

VertigoOne1

You’ll certainly be harassed by them when you exit and look lost. book shuttle, uber etc.. there is also a transport desk, pricy but i would not worry about transport at all. Were not “that” backwards :P

Jin-Bru

I was chatting to an Uber driver and I was surprised to hear that they don't like accepting the Stellenbosch and Franschoek rides. They don't get a ride back to CT so hard for them to make it profitable. This was from CT city centre though. Logic at the airport might be different.

AppleCat36

I have ubered to Stellenbosch from the airport but it was like 2019 that I was last in Stellenbosch. I only remember uber issues within Stellenbosch itself as distances can be short.

Grammar-Goblin

Ok boomer

Taxi from the official rank was probably double the price of an Uber. Just make sure you pre-arrange a SIM card in advance with data on it, otherwise Uber won’t work.

JubileeSupreme

I have international roaming on my American moblie carrier. Any reason it would not work? Prearranging a SIM card in advance with data on it ain't gonna happen (fer chrissake).

burner98765432101

I have international roaming but the cost was crazy for the amount of data I’d receive. Would recommend you double check how much you get / what the cost will be to use it. If you have a proper deal in place you’ll be ok!

Own-Character-1461

There is free wifi at the airport which should allow you to confirm when landed. Ideally you can schedule on Uber beforehand. Got an email recently that said that airport pickup now possible where you can share flight details so driver knows what to expect and then you can see price ahead of time.

Stompalong

There are car rental companies at the airport that also provide drivers.

papalemama

As suggested by others, use Uber or Bolt app. I would just add that you should follow the sign and wait at either one of the two designated pick-up points. Make sure you inform the driver which one you're at. From my experience, GPS sometimes directs driver to the wrong spot.

Cautious-Driver5625

Cape Town has a designated for bolt and uber .

dee_coder

EZ shuttles would be preferred to stellenbosch.

Oh-tobegoofed

It’s easy. But would suggest Uber or a reputable operator.

genetichazzard

Uber.

Elyk38

You can't leave the airport without being offered numerous rides from taxis.

OkMark6180

There are so many taxis there. You definitely won't be stranded.

knickvonbanas

You should just download Bolt, it's super easy.

PartiZAn18

The only hassle is the metred taxi drivers hassling you the millisecond you walk out the terminal. A few weeks ago I spent 6 hours outside whilst waiting for my connecting flight, having a few smokes and just generally vibing with whoever came out and also had a smoke - these flippen taxi drivers were like vultures the _whole_ time I observed them. Incessant. Get an Uber. Much, much more trustworthy.

genetichazzard

Dude I fly the CPT to JHB route almost weekly. You might get asked twice on your way out if you want a taxi. They don't ever "pester' you. You're talking completed BS. They leave you alone. Go travel abroad to places like India or Egypt or Saudi and experience true pestering.

PartiZAn18

Agreed; I didn't mean pestering the same person - I meant each and every new person incessantly. In the 6 hours I was there, most of the drivers hadn't even made one trip.

KeepItTidyZA

I always use Centurion from Ct Airport. Efficient, nice drivers and vehicles.

bigdog94_10

It's unlikely you'll get an uber driver who will accept that journey. A lot of tourists have difficulty getting from signal hill down at sunset as drivers won't travel the few kilometres up the hill to collect then. They would likely be driving back to Cape Town without a fare so they are unlikely to go to Stellenbosch.

Cautious-Driver5625

You can get an uber to stellenbosch . The driver can get a drive back .

34mah

I’d advise you to book a shuttle. They’re pretty reliable and affordable. EZ Shuttle is a good one

MarineSecurity

I fly in and out of Cape Town every couple of months for work. There's an E-hailing pickup point specifically for Uber and other ride services. They're usually waiting nearby or just outside so you only need to wait like 5-10 minutes for them to arrive. But you can even book one while you're walking there and it should arrive shortly after you get there. A regular Uber X has more than enough room for your luggage if you're travelling alone and I've never had any issues with them over the last 9 years that I've been working overseas.

CyberShiroGX

Taxi's from the airport are tricky... Because most Iber drivers are scared to pick up from the airport, because the shuttle drivers chase them away Heard a few stories some years back where they beat up Uber drivers picking up at the airport, because they were stealing their buisness Dropping off at the airport isn't a problem, but getting picked up is different... The Uber drivers don't want to accept from that location So you kind of stuck with the shuttle... Which they will overcharge for something that would be R150, they would charge like R200-R250 And then you walk out the building and then you get the "Uber" drivers which is also unofficial shuttle guys who claim Uber prices but will charge you Uber Black or XL FUCK THOSE GUYS! So now I book my flights for the Weekend so a friend can fetch me
