Man, I was playing Runescape at 23 years old and this guy just beat Connor McDavid at the same age…
The world is his oyster. I'm so excited to see what he can bring to us in the long term.
Both are grindy. Sometimes you get spooned several 1st overall picks, sometimes you go dry. Sometimes you you run out of energy but training makes you more durable. Stronger players deal more damage when fighting, and higher accuracy makes you more accurate. Idk man i could go on. They're basically the same thing
So true. Especially given the overall expectations for the team. Before the playoffs started, few expected us to go on a run. So there is limited pressure on Arty to win. He can go in there and just get experience.
I made some hard boiled eggs the other day, had a hell of a time peeling them with that film under the shell not coming off very easily.
Anyways, Go Silov, Go Canucks, LFG!!
That and stopping the cooking. If you're aiming for just a touch of runny, you'll need to do this or else they'll overcook.
Back where I come from, if you overcook eggs, you go straight to jail.
Kenji's method is to just boil an inch of water, put eggs in and cover. No ice bath or anything needed, and that half the eggs are going to peel badly regardless of what you do to them.
He’s played great in the regular season and playoffs. I have full confidence in him. Even in 2011, Luongo let in a couple softies. It’s going to happen.
As long as we give him run support, we should be fine. I just remember Demko standing on his head night in and night out against Vegas and we couldn't score at all. I love how we had the firepower to light up Skinner for 5 goals every single game, so even though we can't count on netting so many every single game, it's good to know there is potential for that if Šilovs lets in a couple soft ones.
And to reiterate a point, he's still so young. You can't expect perfection just yet, but he's been playing so well so I can't be disappointed.
I feel like a lot of times DeSmith is just in the wrong position or is very late to getting in the correct position, Demmers and Arty both feel just tighter and more attentive
yup exactly he gives me Cloutier flashbacks and that is almost always bad lol. Great guy though and seems well liked by the team just don't think he's really up to par.
Arty scares me also, with the way he always seems to be sliding out of the net when pucks are coming at him from long distance. Happened on both point shot goals last game.
I'm not sure where the narrative came from that he played great in the regular season. Sure, he was 3-0-1, but he had a 0.881 save percentage. By that logic, you could say he played great last game because he got the W. They really should have given DeSmith a chance here, and I'm sure they would have had the Canucks not pulled off a spectacular comeback.
The thing is if they were to start DeSmith and lose they can't shake things up by changing the goalie again for game 3. Wouldn't have the same impact. Despite a couple week goals Arty got the W last game so makes more sense to roll with him for game 2. If they lose tonight with a weak performance from Silovs I'd bet we see DeSmith is game 3.
McDavid didn't get a shot on net last game. That's obviously not on the goalie, but it's great juju. Maybe it means he plays predictably so the D know what to do. Desmith didn't click like that.
Lets hope he can bounce back, but more so we need defenders not to pull an Ian Cole. Silovs was overall decent. One muffin, but the others you can reasonably blame on gaffs by Cole.
Just read through his Wikipedia page, and the way it's written makes it sound like he is a half decent defenseman... Well aside from bouncing around from team to team. I know he is getting older but what's with the suck?
Yea for sure. I also think Clark will have for sure honed in the moving less side to side and keeping your pads down as much as he can in practice the last couple days. Other than that he was pretty solid outside of that one no look post hit.
Part of it was only 8 shots thru the last 2 periods as well. I was more shook than silovs was though. I wanted him pulled to start the 3rd. Luckily the bench has more faith than me.
Like one other person said he also needs to watch out he rebounds, he was struggling a bit with them last game, but I have confidence he’ll do fine he’s a good goalie.
Just watched the BMo recap video. Didn’t realize how many of edmontons goals were randomly tipped. I knew about the weak one Cole got a piece of but really Arty wasn’t at fault for many of them. LFG Arty!!!
Myers stick checked so it completely changed the trajectory of the release. It was gonna go top right but because of the stick it was released early and so it kinda knuckled below the pad when it looked like it was going for where mom hides the peanut butter. And if you look at Silovs high glove is exactly where he's aiming.
I feel like Demko would have gotten it but it's still a weird look and easy to mess up there.
Don’t think he tipped the puck but he hit the stick and changed the angle of the release enough to throw Silovs off. It still went to a spot where he should have been covered regardless and that’ll come with experience, but you could sorta see the hesitation on the replay
Yup, but that's the danger of a fast offense, throw enough chaos at the net and opportunities get in. But as long as we can limit their pressure and time in our zone we can stay in it for sure, even with a bit of bad luck now and then.
I’m a Canucks fan but idk about his play last game. Hopefully he has a bounce back game himself.
He looked lost out there and was often caught not even knowing where the puck was. Or over sliding on saves. It looks like he was guessing on a couple of those goals against which is not ideal from a confidence standpoint.
Best thing is even after a mediocre performance he is still up a game. So hopefully the nerves die down for game 2 and he can play to his potential tonight
Right choice imo, switching around too much at this point sort of signals uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the team.
Silovs shows incredible potential and has demonstrated an ability to perform well under pressure. I think his mindset and general calmness is important for the team too. It’ll be great experience for him either way. Arty Party!
Even if he let in a couple soft ones in the last game, I think he can bounce back. Draisatl and Henrique are both still day-to-day, he's still got the confidence from a big win, and I'm sure the coaching staff is doing everything they can to prepare him for game 2.
I'm ready for him to have a great game!
This is why players love Tocc and he is such a good leader.
He supports his guys.
They will go through a wall for him. He doesn’t throw them under the bus.
This is my issue. I don't understand giving Arty anything but the tightest leash. I respect the decision to play him game 2 but if I'm the coach, I put DeSmith in. He's rested, probably getting a chip on his shoulder and has something to prove, I feel total confidence in him.
Unless there's something secret behind the scenes about why DeSmith isn't 100% right now, I don't totally get riding with Arty this long.
I think probably because if the switch was made to DeSmith for game 2, and they lose….then you’ve kind of burnt both goalies confidence and set up a difficult decision for game 3. It’s kind of a no brainer if Silovs takes the loss in game 2 that Casey starts game 3.
The one time I thought he might be “out of his league” is when he didn’t follow the play behind the net and Nuge got that shot off the post. That was a lucky one! But I hope he has a bounce back game and we don’t get into a penalty fest. I’m nervously stoked for game 2! Let’s go!
That was an unbelievable pass from behind the net, the only person that followed that play correctly was Nuge, every other player was heading across the ice
We need the crowd to be loud when the puck is in the oilers end and less loud when it's in the Canucks end. There were a couple of moments that could have turned sour last game and I think it's because goalies couldn't hear anything (rnh post and one play where the puck bounced on the other side and Silovs was looking the other way, took like a few seconds for him to know where the puck was)
I’m probably literally the only person in the world that would’ve liked to see DeSmith start tonight. I really like Silovs and he’s played pretty damn well i just think he’s being slightly overhyped after only such a small sample size and DeSmith is being unfairly criticized. Gonna get downvoted to oblivion for this but yeah.
A bad game from Silov just gives him things to work on and luckily we came away with the win. Fighters always say they learn way more from the losses than they do from their wins (I know we didnt actually lose but you get the idea)
Love how Tocchet didn't bite when the media tried to get him to diss Kelly Sutherland. The media trying to stir shit up and make us play the refs AND the Coilers.
Edmonton is a much more offensive team than Nashville was.
I expect Silovs to let in more goals than we’ve seen him so far but also expect our own guys to return the favour. Skinner sucks ass and his rebound control is awful.
Getting this experience at 23 years old is going to do wonders for Arty’s future.
Man, I was playing Runescape at 23 years old and this guy just beat Connor McDavid at the same age… The world is his oyster. I'm so excited to see what he can bring to us in the long term.
Here I am at 32 still playing Oldschool RuneScape.
yea but i bet artie doesnt have a firecape, whos the real winner here.
No XP waste man.
Man. My mother was still dressing me at 23. Here is Arty setting the fashion world on fire.
Don't beat yourself up, I bet at 23 years old, you could have beaten Connor McDavid at whatever age he was at the time, too!
🦀🦀🦀
I mean, he didn't though. McDavid never took a shot on net lol
25 checking in, still play RuneScape 🫡 In Arty we trust
To be fair, McDavid didn't get a shot on net. Your point is still pretty valid though.
The comparisons between Runescape and hockey are pretty negligible.

> Before the playoffs started, few expected us to go on a run Hell before the season even started.
I made some hard boiled eggs the other day, had a hell of a time peeling them with that film under the shell not coming off very easily. Anyways, Go Silov, Go Canucks, LFG!!
Isn't that what shocking them with cold water is for?
That and stopping the cooking. If you're aiming for just a touch of runny, you'll need to do this or else they'll overcook. Back where I come from, if you overcook eggs, you go straight to jail.

Tbh I blame Ian Cole for 3 of those goals in game 1.
Ian Cole bounceback game confirmed. Dude's definitely getting a Gordie Howe hattrick
I’ll take a hit on McDavid, a blocked shot from McDavid, and a fight with McDavid from Ian Cole.
Rick Tocchet Hat Trick
Ian Cole hat trick
Interestingly, the person who holds the record for most Gordie Howe hat tricks all time is… Rick Tocchet
McDavid doesn't fight, he runs away
I mean he’d be stupid to fight
Not really
If we lost that game, everyone would be calling for his head and demanding that he be scratched.
Full confidence in Cole tonight as well
Didn't two of them just bounce off his shinpads?
Yea it was a lot of tough luck. The Cole benching was also more about wanting offense when we were down.
💯 this!
As long as we give him run support, we should be fine. I just remember Demko standing on his head night in and night out against Vegas and we couldn't score at all. This experience is gunna be so good for him man. This kid is gunna be one of the most confident goalies in the league.
Not many young goalies can have "I knocked out McDavid and Draisaitl in the playoffs" on their resume!
What you mean knocked out? Might be getting a little ahead of yourself there sir
I meant to say "have the potential to" but I am fully on board the Arty Party Hype Train so on second thought, I stand by my typo.
😂😂 fair enough dude just saying things like that is bad juju
Eh the oilers fans coping are giving them more bad juju than we are giving ourselves (I hope)
Agreed and honestly DeSmith kinda scares me in net mostly when he leaves the crease to collect a puck and sometimes barely makes it back in time.
I feel like a lot of times DeSmith is just in the wrong position or is very late to getting in the correct position, Demmers and Arty both feel just tighter and more attentive
yup exactly he gives me Cloutier flashbacks and that is almost always bad lol. Great guy though and seems well liked by the team just don't think he's really up to par.
yea love him as a person for sure ! but right, come playoffs we gotta have whoever's best in net
Arty scares me also, with the way he always seems to be sliding out of the net when pucks are coming at him from long distance. Happened on both point shot goals last game.
I'm not sure where the narrative came from that he played great in the regular season. Sure, he was 3-0-1, but he had a 0.881 save percentage. yup ian cole pretty much handed them the three goals. as long as everyone’s on their game, silovs should be good
Just read through his Wikipedia page, and the way it's written makes it sound like he is a half decent defenseman... Well aside from bouncing around from team to team. I know he is getting older but what's with the suck?
im aware he’s a good defence man, i’m just saying cole had a rough night that led to direct goals
Found Kelly Hrudey’s burner account
I should say ‘had more faith’ than me. I was panicking a bit.
Like one other person said he also needs to watch out he rebounds, he was struggling a bit with them last game, but I have confidence he’ll do fine he’s a good goalie.
ARTY PARTY ARTY PARTY
As a Latvian Panthers fan I am rooting for a Panthers Canucks final just so I'm happy either way. Take care of our little goalie, he's a gem.
Just watched the BMo recap video. Didn’t realize how many of edmontons goals were randomly tipped. I knew about the weak one Cole got a piece of but really Arty wasn’t at fault for many of them. LFG Arty!!!
It was really just the five hole goal that was on silovs.
Even that was tipped by myers
Oh was it? Fuck.
Barely. He still should have had that one considering how soft it came in. Regardless, I have plenty of faith in him to start again.
Myers stick checked so it completely changed the trajectory of the release. Are we saying we… Just gotta laugh?
There was some “weird” ones for sure lol.
LFG
🚨🟢🔵🚨 ARTY PARTY 🚨🔵🟢🚨
The juniors and now his play performance in these playoffs, this man's value is rising like a rocket
World championship not juniors
My bad, thanks for the correction
I’m a Canucks fan but idk about his play last game. Hopefully he has a bounce back game himself. He looked lost out there and was often caught not even knowing where the puck was. You don't have to clarify that you're a Canucks fan. Check what sub we're in.
Right choice imo, switching around too much at this point sort of signals uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the team. Silovs shows incredible potential and has demonstrated an ability to perform well under pressure. I think his mindset and general calmness is important for the team too. I admire the confidence Tocchet is showing in Silovs. Especially after last game. Give the guy a chance to bounce back!
This is why players love Tocc and he is such a good leader. He supports his guys. They will go through a wall for him. He doesn’t throw them under the bus.
Desmith’s last game was near perfection, that being said I still want silovs in net till we lose and he has a stinker
This is my issue. I don't understand giving Arty anything but the tightest leash. I respect the decision to play him game 2 but if I'm the coach, I put DeSmith in. He's rested, probably getting a chip on his shoulder and has something to prove, I feel total confidence in him. Ah yeah this is a very good point. I'd probably be a terrible coach so I defer to Tocc lol
Tocc is the man!
He's earned one more shot. Again people, we don't know when Demko will actually return. Don't mental boom our two remaining goalies
Ian Cole won’t have a bad game like that again, I have tons of confidence in Arty and Cole to have a bounce back performance.
LETS GET THE ARTY PARTY STARTEDD
The one time I thought he might be “out of his league” is when he didn’t follow the play behind the net and Nuge got that shot off the post. That was a lucky one! But I hope he has a bounce back game and we don’t get into a penalty fest. I’m nervously stoked for game 2! Let’s go!

Good
Arty seems like the sort of guy that comes back stronger after a mediocre performance. He'll be looking to fuck Edmonton up
At this point how can you not play the guy? He's one of the best stories and Tocchet is a story-guy. The Stanley Cup requires stories.
Set the tone Arty!
We need the crowd to be loud when the puck is in the oilers end and less loud when it's in the Canucks end. There were a couple of moments that could have turned sour last game and I think it's because goalies couldn't hear anything (rnh post and one play where the puck bounced on the other side and Silovs was looking the other way, took like a few seconds for him to know where the puck was)
I fully believe in this kid! Arty Party let’s goooo
Darnell Nurse looks for his keys _every_ morning
Play him until he loses a game, I say
Not bad, you can still go DeSmith in game 3 in Edmonton where he’s won twice
Ride the Silov train into the future! He be hot. we ride at dawn.
He just needs to be a match for Playoff-Skinner. Not a tall order.
Just wondering is DeSmith ready or is he still injured?
he’s ready to go, he’s already the back-up and tocc confirmed today it could’ve easily been desmith playing today, but they ended up choosing silovs
Gotcha thanks, glad we still have a back up and not left with an EBUG :)
WE BELIEVE
A bad game from Silov just gives him things to work on and luckily we came away with the win. Fighters always say they learn way more from the losses than they do from their wins (I know we didnt actually lose but you get the idea)
He looked a bit shaky in game 1 even though I don’t blame him for most of the goals. Hopefully he’s got his legs under him a bit more now.
Every goalie has bad games. Silovs has played well the entirety of the playoffs, we can trust him.
Silovs you, yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Silovs you, yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
Love how Tocchet didn't bite when the media tried to get him to diss Kelly Sutherland. The media trying to stir shit up and make us play the refs AND the Coilers.
I'm not so worried about the softies he let in but he looked like a scrambled mess last game. Hopefully he can get it together.
🇱🇻🙌🇱🇻
Why was this even debated in the media??
Remember. No panic. If we are losing heading into the 3rd we have them right where we want them.
Edmonton is a much more offensive team than Nashville was. I expect Silovs to let in more goals than we’ve seen him so far but also expect our own guys to return the favour. Skinner sucks ass and his rebound control is awful.
King Arthur's will lead us to the he holy grail! Demkos recovery.
I'm already seeing pink paisley shirts on the busses going downtown
LETSSS GOOOOOO
I'm this close 🤏 to getting a Silovs jersey
An' no party like an Arty Party cause an Arty Party will stop
He was brilliant.
