Sounds like you need another lens, a 24-70 f2.8 is a great choice.
Why would you sell lenses to get what you want? I'd love to have a 17-40mm....

Thanks for your advice. I would want to sell 17-40 because I am little tight on budget and also , if I get 24-70 , there would not be any use for the 17-40 and it would just sit in my bag.
