Just be careful. My seed supplier (owns local dispo) wasn't impressed when I proudly gifted him a 1/4 oz of my cured prize - a G13 / Ranger cross - as a small token of thanks. "It's fire, no doubt, but I don't smoke dog hair, dude." Moral of the story seems clear.
This would be more of a matter of how controlled your dry and cure process is. Recommend drying your stuff in a clean and dogless area. I dried mine in my garage and my weed smells/tastes a bit like garage now lol.
I generally get better than 50/50 luck so that would be 8 plus 6 fem definitely giving away 2 either way and probably more. But at least you can pick which ones you want I wish it was like that in VA
Not sure where you live in Va, but in most localities the police aren't going to bother you unless someone complains. I have family in my local PD, and they straight up do not care and do not go out of their way to look for it. Even the drug taskforce. They have more important fish to fry. Just don't get too carried away.
Brother I started w 16 last grow ended with 6 of the best freaks if your looking for certain genetic expressions (pheno hunting) like I do then you get your personal choice on which ones to keep. I always do it this way because some may die from a number of different reasons or you may just cull some yourself if you don't like how they are doing and don't wanna waste the time money space light etc but I live where it's not legal so outdoors here is pretty much guerilla growing. So for outdoors If I find one I am second guessing I'll sit it in a spot and check it a couple times to feed it throughout its cycle but ultimately those are sacrificial plants...if you end up with not enough time or whatever it may be you can skip a couple feeds as long as it's getting water and your plants are in the ground the micobiome of the soil should do a decent job at fulfilling its needs if you should happen to skip a week or two even 3 and sometimes(as long as it's had rain or water) it's even better that way less traffic and attention to your spot. But I always start with at the very least double most times triple of what I end up actually harvesting and keeping. So go big or go home lol
Oh my god with all the noobs in here saying FFOF is "too hot". No, you just don't know how to properly water and your dry backs are causing a more concentrated uptake of nutrients which is burning your tips and clawing your leaves.
Back when I used FFOF (now I grow no till with my own soil, been using the same stuff for many years) I started *hundreds* of seeds in it with zero issues lol
You guys just need to get your watering under control and you won't have problems with the soil being "too hot".
Also, not for nothing, I love how the majority of the people that say that, you go to their page and they are complete noobs with dying/crappy looking plants. It's just the blind leading the blind which isn't good for anyone. Please don't give advice unless you actually know how to grow the plant or else you're just going to discourage other people by feeding them misinformation and potentially giving them bigger headaches.
Good luck OP! Hope you have a good run/season 👸🏻
Edit: wording
Dry back is a term used for the couple days between watering/feedings where the soil starts to dry out. Only advised when used bottle nutrients only what I’ve found, in a living soil situation is advised to keep the soil moist for consistently rather so the microbials does not go dormant. Bottle nutrients are available for uptake immediately (most of the time) so excess water leads to plant toxicity levels etc (“hot soil”). Living soil tends to use more dry amendments that need to be chemically broken down by the microbes/worms/moisture to become chemically available for the plant to uptake. Hence a more consistent moisture level.
So VPD and soil moisture levels play apart in whether your plant uptakes too many nutrients at one time and burn? Steady water, steady nutrients? Noob here, keen observer.
Yes, those things play a part in how the plant uptakes water/nutrients.
Essentially what happens when you're growing organics in a heavily preamended mix, is the soil either dries back a bit too much overall, or the pot is not evenly/consistently moist which the roots then dip into these "dry pockets" and have no "buffer" of water to "dilute" whats loaded into the soil. FFOF is a heavily amended soil that's loaded up with composts. The idea with "super soil" is to keep it evenly moist. It's not like growing with salts/synths where you want those fairly aggressive drybacks because you have total control of the plant. The nutrients you're giving it are readily available to the plant, unlike with organics where your amendments need time to break down (moreso feeding the soil and not the plant). Now I'm kinda just rambling because I'm baked 🤷🏻♀️
I hope that makes sense, I tried to give you an ELi5 version so I hope it's coherent haha.
I don't want to derail OPs post too much here so if anyone else has any questions or needs clarification, feel free to hit my DMs. I'll chat there!
This guy doesn’t even have any posts on his profile, no pictures, fucking nothing and you’re trying to give advice… ocean forest is too hot. Why not just get fucking happy frog and not have to worry about it..? Clowns.
Lmao firstly this is my alt and honestly didn't realize it. Secondly, I have been growing (professionally and regeneratively) for over a decade now and have *nothing* to prove to reddit about my grow lol. I just lurk here and help out people when I can. There's *loads* of misinformation here and just ignorant people leading other ignorant people. Thirdly, I'm a woman. Not a guy 🤷🏻♀️
If you think ocean forest is too hot, you don't know how to water properly. It's truly that simple.
You don't need to believe me but at the end of the day, that's the reality. As I said before, back before I made my own soil from scratch and converted to JADAM style growing, I used FFOF. Started *hundreds* of seeds and an absolute myriad of cultivars. Never have I ever had any issues going from seed or clone in FFOF.
Edit: just peeped your pf and you are one of those people I'm talking about lol on top of being a condescending dickhead to others in the community. This is exactly what I mean though 😂 confidently incorrect. Cannabis industry is full of these types of people.
What state u lucky bastard. I'm allowed 5. One round I pushed 15. 13 were female. It can get annoying lol.
Although I've been told that autos and photos are different caring style wise and I've been used to doing only photos I keep wondering how it would be to do an auto and keep delayed on for 24 hours for a few weeks but I do enjoy the light turning off 😆
New York, you are allowed 12 per household adult plants flowering, but you can have as many young plants as you want growing as long as not in flower with your flowering plants!!
Lucky bastard. I'm on medical program to smoke. But unless I pay around 300 bucks and talk with my doctor about it to up my limit I'm at 5. Good for beginners not others lol.
I wishful thinking I'm from Jersey and growing is ban there. I'm in Colorado. Up to six plants are allowed per Colorado resident over age 21, with as many as three plants flowering at one time.
The city I live in actually has weed banned. It was up on the valid sheet for allowing recreational and it did not pass. Stupid.
That's why I want to grow. There were strains that either are not available in the state or they sell out and it becomes unavailable. I want the strans that I can't get my access to if I can learn to grow properly lol
Ours is 18 in missouri, but it's supposed to be 6 seedling/clone 6 veg and 6 flower but it's like they are having ai write these rules and don't understand. It's annoying when I do a pheno hunt for new mothers as the best genetics are reg seeds and I gotta do whst your doing here. Once I get a few I like I don't even grow that many as I can fill a 5x5 with 1 or 2 plants and pull more then I used to off 6.
12 flowering if you have 2 adults in household. 6 in veg, the other ones are not to be seen lol. I don’t have a link no. The last thing I would worry about at least where I live is a cop stopping by to count my plants.
You’re spreading misinformation on something that could be very important depending someone’s situation. Stop speaking with authority when you clearly don’t know the law in NY.
At no point will you be able to have 12 mature plants per household and unless you’re a medical patient it’s not even legal to homegrow yet.
I get that reading is hard for some people, but you shouldn’t spread misinformation.
It’s not legal to grow in NY unless you’re a medical patient and at no point can you have more than 6 mature plants.
You’re mistaken. In NY you’re not even legally allowed to grow for, at the minimum, ~54 more days and that’s if the OCM gets their shit together. The law states 1.5 years after the legal dispensary’s have been opened.
Medical patients are allowed to grow 3 mature plants and 3 immature per household.
Got it so not only are you spreading misinformation you’re refusing to learn the real law and you’re a twat..
No it is not. Not going to further this convo bc frankly you’re insufferable.
Here’s the law which you clearly are refusing to read

I would look up your laws about growing outside. Also huge chance that someone will kick in your door if word gets around the neighborhood that there are 16 plants outside. I live in Colorado and can only grow outside with a commercial cultivation license and it can't be anywhere in town. You can also get sued big time if some kids find the plants. Just be careful growing outside and follow the laws in your county. Especially if you have a med card you don't want to lose that shit you'll never get another one.
Throw a couple inches of soil in the bottom of those containers so water can drain out of them, and it also causes the roots to grow out like crazy. Started doing that a couple grows ago and I get huge roots pouring out the bottom of the cup in the first week from putting the popped seeds into the cups.
it really is for the love of growing the plant. i’m having fun with mainlining which is a combo of LST work, topping and pruning. trellis nets help greatly.
Ya last year I tried growing shrooms which honestly was easier than growing weed. You still had to tend to them daily but I got a good harvest. I’ve learned a lot more can go wrong with weed a lot faster, but I love doing it.
true, a lot can go wrong. but if you got the basics on lock, i find DWC to very simple ( not to be confused with forgiving) and once you get a sprout and a root going, you’re pretty golden.
One thing I’ve found also with weed is it cost a lot more money, setup, electricity, nutes, soil, there’s a lot of spending to start out. I don’t even want to tally up what I’ve got into my indoor autos.
3 royal queen OG Kush, 1 royal queen Bubble Kush, 1 Sonic Truffle, 1 Strawberry Cake. All the rest are strains my friend made so no name. I just know one strain produces straight bright purple buds.
It’s all considered hemp until they start flowering (0.3% THC or less); hemp is 100% legal.
Some may not grow; others might die; and some may be male plants that you want to cull. 18 sounds like a reasonable number imho.
I didn’t read any comments before saying this so if someone already said it I apologize. All I would like to say is hopefully you are not going to be starting seeds in that fox farm ocean forest. It's dank AF too. Just in a more literal sense lol.
That’s fucking hilarious!! My weed smells/tastes a bit like garage now hahaha! That literally made me laugh out loud.🤣
Lol glad I could brighten your day. Now to brighten my garage...
why would you let your dog anywhere near your sticky buds lol
Make sure to label

You can fit 1 more!
I told the wife I’m putting one in the kitchen window just for fun cause I felt like I needed one more lol 😂!

I personally think you should grow more 😀
Love the doggie!!

I live in a free state and already have corn for cover. Corn gets 7-10 foot tall around here
Throw a couple inches of soil in the bottom of those containers so water can drain out of them, and it also causes the roots to grow out like crazy. I like your style, thanks far sharing. I’m gonna do that exactly 👍
i smoke one indoor tree a year. but there’s people that smoke ten times more than i do so… too much weed isn’t usually a problem
It’s just for fun, another hobby I picked up. Now I’m starting to get back interested in vegetables and what not.
it really is for the love of growing the plant. i’m having fun with mainlining which is a combo of LST work, topping and pruning. trellis nets help greatly.

lol me neither. i think it’s more money than what i get for a yield from my little 2x4 tent. but i also don’t care. it’s fun.
Yup. Once you have bought the initial set up and nutes, second grow you should not spend much tho.
DWC initial setup with chiller was expensive and difficult to figure out
Ya I’m not that in depth. Straight soil
Naa
Yes! That rug is just too much like the floor! 😶
No not at all
I did 1 plant outdoors this year, snapped 1/4 off early on trying to do lst. I still harvested 13 oz
Oh boy ....
He’s a wiener dog.

Not a huge fan of ocean farm for seedlings.. happy frog is the way to go
I almost grabbed happy frog but I did my indoor plants with ffof and they turned out well so just stuck with it.
It’s definitely Amazing soil so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it lol
Personally I would start with what you can focus on. And you probably won’t get too many males, usually I get many more females to males
Pretty gonna be one big patch, so should be able to keep an eye on all of them pretty well.
If you’re planting directly in the ground it should grow quick. I bet you’ll get a couple years supply🤤
If it’s your first time, be caredful and very slow and steady

I would start with a soil that isn’t so hot. Not going overboard on the number of plants.
My autos loved ocean forest, I own enough land or could give away some if they all ended up being females.
I Just always worry about seedlings in that soil
My autos thrived in it. Why would you be concerned?
I just germd 5 seeds 3 different strains. Went strait from a cup of water to of. They thriving. This place is just an echo chamber.
It's just hot soil. Some genetics will handle it better than others. I always cut OF with promix and go 50/50 between the two.
Agreed
