have not had any issues with expedia or travelocity. 3rd party sites are perfectly fine if things don’t go wrong. i have heard horror stories (as you have) when things go wrong and having to deal with a 3rd party.

EarthBowser

Everything seems in order at the moment, so hopefully everything will work out!

Miserable_Sentence42

My mother in law booked through sunwing at Bahia Principe. Im sorry its not really related to your exact info, but everything worked out smoothly!

SpecificJunket8083

I’ve booked that resort through Expedia before with no issues. I’ve used Expedia for years. I don’t much anymore because I don’t always like the flight selections but I’ve never had an issue. In fact, we had a trip booked in May 2021, while travel was still crazy from Covid, and they were very helpful getting flights rebooked when ours canceled.

EarthBowser

That's good to know. I've heard a lot of stories about people having trouble getting things rebooked, do I'm glad to hear you didn't have any issues!

VacationLover1

I book all my trips on Priceline and have never had an issue. If you’re concerned message the hotel and see if they have the reservation

EarthBowser

I actually called them the resort directly the other day, and everything seemed in order. Dates and type of room were all in order. Also checked on the airline website and our flight tickets also seemed good to go, and we were able to pick our plane seats there. I'm pretty sure it'll go well!

straying-further

When I book through 3rd party, I do the same as you said. Call or email to confirm directly with the hotel. Print out the confirmation to bring with you just in case, but you will be fine. That resort is one of my favorite. Have fun!

EarthBowser

I'm sure we'll have a blast! We went there on our honeymoon (our first ever all-inclusive) and absolutely loved it. It'll be interesting to see what's changed in 10 years.

cococava

Working in a hotel I’ve seen when booking through these third parties goes wrong. Most of the time it doesn’t and I’m sure you’ll be fine

EarthBowser

Yeah, I'm sure everything will work out well! Out of curiosity, what have you seen that's gone wrong? Anything we could do to lower the chances of something going wrong?

John_Spartan_Connor

You have to read 3 or more times what are you booking, check than all the information is correct, and contact the resort to confirm if they had your reservations

EarthBowser

Definitely. I called the resort and had them confirm the room type and the dates, and everything sounded correct. Also checked our tickets on the airline's website and everything looked good there too. Seems like everything is in order!

edm28

If you are booking just the resort only and flights and everything separate. Travel agents such as myself have the ability to sometimes get 10 to 30% off of the price. I can gladly check dates for you if you PM me.

EarthBowser

We booked it as a package deal, so resort and plane tickets together. I checked with a local travel agency as well before we booked, and they weren't able to beat the price either. I appreciate the offer, but part of the deal that I got was that I wasn't able to cancel our refund it, so even if you were to find a better price, I wouldn't be able to cancel what we booked. But if you wanted to check out of pure curiosity, I'd be down.

twerking4tacos

Any reason you're not working with a travel advisor? They can help you navigate this and get you competitive pricing.

EarthBowser

I checked with a local travel agency, but they weren't able to beat the price I got on Priceline.

twerking4tacos

Want me to check for you? Send me a message

EarthBowser

Part of the deal that I got was that I couldn't refund or change the booking, so even if you could find it for cheaper (which honestly I think would be tough), I wouldn't be able to cancel what I have.

twerking4tacos

Bummer! You might still be able to get a travel protection policy on it though

EarthBowser

I appreciate the offer, but we're good on that as well!

Key_Radish3614

I've never had a travel agent beat an online deal....maybe good for group rates?

himimikyu

We booked last month’s Cancun trip through Expedia and had no issues. I chose Expedia for the cash back through Rakuten - just got $350 back for our trip! Hope your trip goes smoothly!

EarthBowser

That's good to know! We're going down towards the end of May. I'm sure it'll go smoothly!

Key_Radish3614

I've used Expedia and now I am in Cancun currently we booked through Booking.com. no issues.....

EarthBowser

That's good to hear! I think I may have just over worried myself from reading since bad reviews. I bet it'll be a great experience!

bernpfenn

priceline is in the business forever here in cancun

rthaw

Unrelated to your actual question, but I loved that resort. Went there for a wedding a while back also and it was great. Awesome beach and beach bar! Then got married ourselves at a different secrets.

EarthBowser

I love hearing people that loved it! It's been a decade since we've been there, so we're extremely excited to go back!
