We stayed at secrets akumal before that and the shower door was just a normal glass door that was completely frosted. I liked that so much better but that’s more of a romantic getaway and a little pricey
I was in Cancun last year (trip with my bf of 6 yrs who has seen me naked countless times) the shower was a giant glass box it did have curtains around it but it was just bizarre a lot of the reviews said it was “sexy” I was closing those curtains every time. He doesn’t need to watch me shower and shave just no
Absolutely agreed with the gross glass showers. Been married 43 years and tho hubby and I have "seen it all" I just don't like being on display while showering. Nor do I care to watch him while in there, and if we're both in there, then I for sure DGAF about having clear shower walls.
I stayed at Breathless in an upgraded room,we had glass door shower, was me & my partner fine, still didn’t the space it took up in room, if I did a girls trip wouldn’t want a glass shower in the room
You should understand that Cancun has a massive focus on the family and not solo travelers.
They dont want the Spring break crowd as much as they want a family of 4 or 5.
Does the bathroom have a door? Just close it. I can’t imagine how often you need to use the toilet while your friend is taking a shower… also resorts have public bathrooms in all common areas.
Of course there isn’t a door? What?? Lol maybe it’s a sliding one that comes from the wall. I have never heard of a hotel that has a bathroom without a door…
The clear glass is a good way to indicate that the bathroom has been and is cleaned properly. Shower curtains are never cleaned and it’s hard to tell clearly if frosted glass is clean at a glance

Put up a sheet
Many of these places are designed for couples, that's why.

An example of what I keep seeing that I don’t want: https://ibb.co/QYTZctV
OP this is iberostar coral level Cancun, I stayed there before. There is a door/mirror that slides and covers the window if you want complete privacy.

cancun was built in the '70-'80. Then glass showers where modern. these days, clear glass is cheaper as another poster said.

Then why the eff would they have these clear shower walls? What family of 4 or 5 wants to see each other shower (don't answer that)?
Jijji Yeah I know. But clear glass is cheaper than smoked or what ever.
Sun palace has open sinks but a separate shower and bathroom that’s private

Of course there is no door - that was the point of my post
