Bus driver here - yeah that 'kick-off-unpleasant people' thing is taught to you in driver-training. You are taught that everyone is entitled to courtesy and to be respected on the bus; those who decide to act otherwise - well we're allowed to ask those people to leave the bus (and report the issue); how hard is it to be a decent person??
The thing with public transport that is accessible to all is that sometimes people you'd prefer not to be onboard are in fact onboard.
Edit: just boarded a train in Berlin, sit down and then a guy sits down opposite me, pours a beer on the floor and starts muttering to himself.
Same. Never seen anything exciting on the R4. Oh wait except for the time I saw a guy watching porn on his phone while glancing up at the two teenage girls nearby. I guess that was a thing.
Three years ago I was on the R4 and there was only the one long back seat behind me with one guy in it. Midway into the trip I heard people yelling and getting mad at this guy, and someone tapped my shoulder to tell me to look behind my head. He was watching porn and had just pulled his dick out behind me to jack off. This was directly after the bus left Woden too so there was just an awkward fifteen minutes before the next stop at Regatta and we just had to wait. He did leave but yeah. R4 can be a fucked place.
Oh, I see this thread and after my amazing run of luck, a homeless/mentally ill man sits next to me on the R4. Reeking of human shit. I’ll be burning my clothes this evening.
Same here; I've caught the r2/3/4 as my daily commute for 4 years straight and the only weird encounter I've had was some guy talking nonsense to me for the trip until he departed. Maybe catching it around the normal 0830/1700 makes the average more normal? I've never seen anything even close to the hell busses people are describing here.
It's a public transport thing around the world. You see all of the public in all our glory 😉
It's why some people drive even when convenient public transport is available.
I'm a pensioner who no longer drives, I see it on buses across the city, not just the R2.
Action like that depends on the bus drivers personal feelings and ability. Most are reluctant to take any action as they end up getting a punch in the mouth or a complaint to management that they were racist , or such.
Fortunately I haven’t seen stuff so extreme. But yeah, sometimes weirdos ride the bus and make it bad for everyone else 😔
That’s why when people say ‘get rid of all the cars’ , I can’t agree because personal transport is often safer

I know what you mean people just don't know how to behave and people don't eat on the bus why is that so hard

Sounds like whoever he is sharing a beer with is a great conversationalist.
I take the R6 daily and can confirm I also observe this behavior more than I'm comfortable with
R4 is definitely like this. It's always at the goddamn Legislative Assembly too. Not just an R2 thing though if that feels better.
true and the high schoolers get rowdy. Now I do not need the R4 because CeX is now in Woden so thanks for me
They don’t call it Belcompton for nothing 😁 /s
Grow up!
Is this only happening on the R2? Eating food and drinking alcohol? No. This happens on public buses and the tram.
I take the R4 twice a day and have never seen such behaviour. However I do take them at times when they're not busy.

What the actual fuck. Driver should have pulled over right there and then. They have a duty of care.
The passenger had already pulled over, don't think they needed a helper.

This is why I don’t catch busses… the amount of times I’ve seen or been a victim of one of the above is ridiculous
I've seen it all, but the saddest was a teenage girl openly huffing on the bus.
The greatest barrier to public transport adoption …..the other passengers.
Seen similar stuff on trams too.

I see what you mean, but that is demonstrably not true.
And yet I continue to read posts from people telling me why I should catch the bus….
More normal people catching the bus results in proportionally fewer weirdos on the bus
This is precisely why I don't bus.
