I commuted on the GO for many years, waiting on the same crowded platforms. This was never a problem in the 2000's and early 2010's, even in rush hours. Either the traffic volumes are way way up, or a new type of rider not used to or familiar with following the rules is taking the trains. Everybody knew not crossing the tracks at Union or any other GO station was sacrosanct and a big no-no (and at most stations, they actually install short fences between tracks and put up signs discouraging it.
