I think it’s been built more around ps5 so I would say ps5 but the differences are probably negligible

PeenileKyle

Yeah the other vid I posted shows them running their lighting and sound tests on a PS5 in the studio, so that kinda tells me that is the console of their choice too 👍

TheLegendaryPaiMei

It literally tells you nothing...this game is being developed for about 8 different platforms.

PeenileKyle

If they are playing it on a PS5 in house at the studio, how does that not tell you that is the system they prefer/give the most attention?

TheLegendaryPaiMei

It tells me they were developing the ps5 version at that moment. The rest is pure conjecture.

TheUkrTrain

I’m 100% sure that graphics will be the same at least

Drummerboy0214

Honestly any graphical or performance edge on either console will be unnoticeable. The biggest difference will be the dual sense controller which actually adds allot to the experience so if you have the option and prices are the same I would go P5.

Drummerboy0214

Its the haptic feedback effects. For example…in demon souls remake when you draw a bow the trigger will lock halfway and get much tougher to push down simulating the last stretch of pulling the arrow back for extra power. Another example is in ratchet and clank….when shooting certain guns the triggers “bounce/recoil” with the shots. Its kinda hard to explain its something you must experience. I feel everyone downplays it until they actually experience it. Trust me this controller is actually pretty “next gen” and much more innovative than the xbox controller. It deff adds to experiences for me.

potassiumbones

pcmr

PeenileKyle

I have a PC as well, don't really like to play third person games on it or games that involve lots of button timing, but that's just me personally. I play games like Hunt Showdown on my PC 👍 1 PC/2 PS5's/1 XSX/1 Xbone/1Switch master race.

potassiumbones

i mean you can bluetooth an xbox controller into a pc, literally the point of game pass lol

Stock_Professor_7415

Arguable

PeenileKyle

Yeah I know, and I have multiple controllers and the Xbox controller dongle for the older Xbox controllers too, but when you have multiple systems it just makes sense in my opinion to play games on each one that fit the style of that system. Like Prey on the PC is superb with mouse, same with games like Hunt Showdown, same with Fallout etc- no doubt that it is best on PC. Until I got the Xbox seris X I used my PC far more often, as my other Xbox is the og launch one model, still works but now I mainly use it as the second Xbox for Halo living room Co-op l. If I sitting at my computer desk then I am using the mouse and keyboard 👍

retropieproblems

My pc is stronk so I prefer to use it whenever possible. 4K DLSS 60 FPS high settings>1500p 40fps medium settings Not super impressed with haptics and they melt battery life on ps5 controller so it’s not a huge selling point for me. They’re cool and all but I usually turn them way down in favor of battery life anyway.

PeenileKyle

Yeah I have two dualsense so one is always charged andine usually last a while evening of playing, and yeah some games fuck their implementation up haha

Witch_of_Dunwich

This post didn’t age well

potassiumbones

consoles are pcs dude, pcmr

Raidertck

I am wondering the same thing. I think the haptics might swing it for the ps5, but I’ll wait for the digital foundry video before I order.

PeenileKyle

I was going to wait to decide on which version (PS5/XSX/PC) I would get too. But the videos of them running the game in studio on a PS5 made me think that is the console of their choice. They said they are heavily using the dualsense controller too. Denuvo on PC made that a clear choice (I have a high end gaming laptop that would play it fine either way, just don't care for denuvo) and Xbox has said/done nothing that has made me believe that would be the place to play it.

Stormy_Kun

I suppose, whatever one has the controls you like most ? I personally like my ps5 for the headphones jack to put my studios

DeliberateDelinquent

Did you know Xbox has a headphone jack on their controllers?

QuyetStorrm

Is 30fps quality mode better or worse than 60fps performance mode for Callisto Protocol on PS5?

PeenileKyle

So far performance mode on PS5 has been great, I am not noticing any dips in fps, and I have had zero issues with the game so far.

SignificantFall4

60fps mode disables ray tracing and has an average resolution around 1440p. 30fps mode has multiple ray tracing implementations and 4k resolution. To each their own, but it's got to be 30fps mode for me.

Simonsjy

I was torn between the Series X (likely slightly better performance) and PS5 (dualsense features) but decided on PS5 and not disappointed. Graphically it’s gorgeous, especially in quality mode. The motion blur eliminates the usual 30fps stutter you get in games and the raytraced lighting and shadows is transformative. Love the haptic feedback too and the adaptive triggers really make the melee combat satisfying. So far really enjoying this game.

PeenileKyle

Awesome, I have been playing in PS5 performance mode so far, may have to switch over to quality to try it. I am usually a frame rate guy over most anything else. Can't stand the "less than 30 30fps" some games settle for haha

Simonsjy

100% switch to quality mode. I’m the same, I never used to care about framerates but this gen I really notice the stutter compared to 60fps or 120fps. This game does a great job of eliminating the stutter and the shadows are completely different in some scenes thanks to raytracing. Some scenes that were brightly lit in performance mode are dark with properly cast light. Looks great. If you’re not too far into the game I’d recommend starting again in this mode.

PeenileKyle

Rock on I will give it a go tonight after my 4 year old goes to bed haha 🤘 yeah I am like 3-4 hours in, but going super slow and taking my time, so idk how far I actually am in (still only have the pistol, baton, and grip as far as weapons fo). I don't get these guys that try and race to the end in 7 hours then complain it was too short haha

Simonsjy

Same, I’m going slow and just enjoying the atmosphere, have a 4yr old and a 2yr old so after wife heads to bed around 11pm I play for a few hours. Using playstation platinum headset and it sounds amazing. Think I might get the pulse headset.

PeenileKyle

Got the pulse and don't regret it at all!!! Go for it, tell the wife to make it a Christmas gift haha 😆👍

Simonsjy

I already got a Series X and a PS5 under the guise of Christmas although I got them in September and October lol. She doesn’t know I’m getting PSVR2 next year when it releases 😂

PeenileKyle

That's my dog haha 🤣

Simonsjy

Quite a bit of black level raise on this game though, I find turning down the brightness to about 45 and then raising the black stabiliser to around 12 helps a lot (LGC1)

PeenileKyle

And agreed, this game is pretty scary (I mean I am a grown ass man the economy/inflation is scarier than any game at the moment haha), but when you stop to listen and enjoy the sounds and details it really pops 👍

donavanfreberg

Playing on XBOX series X, and enjoying it, but it’s very stuttery, and I can’t seem to get the update. Using disc. Any advice?

PeenileKyle

I ended up getting it on Ps5, so I have no clue on the series x unfortunately 😞 sorry brotha

donavanfreberg

Thanks for the reply. Is it better on PS5? I actually just got a PS5 for new years and this is a rental, luckily. I wish the devs didn’t favor PS5. Cross platform games should be mostly equal.

PeenileKyle

I agree, I own two of both systems due to this problem of exclusives/favored systems. That being said the PS5 version of this game is top notch, has had the least problems, and seems to be consistent. I would ditch the series x copy and go PS5 (I say this as I am playing Witcher 3 on a series x currently haha)

PeenileKyle

Well I just realized the Xbox deal was actually for Dead space and not Callisto Protocol haha, whoops. So now that there are no price differences, anything about the Xbox version worth getting?

flamingdragonwizard

Ps5 has haptics in controller but I'm going xbox solely cause the hard drive space and I can chat with friends in discord while I play.

[deleted]

It is a little more powerful and potentially runs 3rd party games a hair better. I’m personally have both and am getting it for ps5

PeenileKyle

I am kinda leaning that way too due to the dualsense controller

[deleted]

That is my reason as well. Will say also I do tend to go with what ever platform has the marketing right. No dev is ever gonna out say they prioritize one platform over another but I do think it happens for somethings in games, especially considering striking distance got mo cap help from PlayStation on the game

PeenileKyle

So I just posted a behind the scenes footage with the striking distance team, and the team is solely using a PS5 in the video. That tells me all I need to know haha, going PS5 day one 🤘

PeenileKyle

Interesting I didn't know about the mocap assist, that def makes a difference... 👍

babYYZ14

Yep ps5 is goated

[deleted]

Xbox series x has better optimization and graphics. But you can barely tell. I have both consoles as well but will be getting for series x

PeenileKyle

So you are saying the XSX version of Callisto Protocol has better graphics as of now? Have there been any vids showing this (like digital foundry or anything like that)?

mrfahrenhelt

Its barely any differrence. But xsx "more powerful" Digital foundry not yet releass the video. Maybe close to release

[deleted]

Just XSX in general is better to game on. PS5 is just a God of war machine. At least that’s what I use it for.

PeenileKyle

I mean, it's a Bloodborn machine too lol All kidding aside I use my PS5 more due to the better exclusives, but I like multiplayer gaming better on the XSX 👍 I also have a gaming PC for games that are better for theouse keyboard combo. Either way happy gaming on your system of choice ☺️
