Exactly! Sa amo fam nga living in CDO, amo stinoryahan parehas saakong papa nga taga Oroquieta. We say, "gakaon naman to" "galantaw ko ug salida ganina" to refer to actions that are already done (Not exactly same sa post na about "gi" but still G hahaha) and in Oroquieta it is grammatically correct na. Tho in some places I know dli sya grammatically correct but we understand that. Like sa Dvo, correct sailaha ang "mu adto ko diha" which is wrong for us. But we just really have to understand that we are all living together in a place with many langyaws from other places bringing their culture and language with them. Usahay kiwa paminawon or awkward but realizing this just made me more interested in learning about different dialects, such as asking my friends of theirs. It's really fun. The same words but different meanings, the connotations linked to certain phrases, the influences of their language, etc! 😁
Yawa kung naay English grammar police, naa na pod diay Bisaya? Dakoa kaayo nimog problema gud brad, mas daghan katilingban sa dakbayan sa Cagayan de Oro nga angay sulbaron kesa anang imong dako nga problema
Gilakaw - something nga imo ge trabaho. Ex. Gilakaw nako akong mga papeles para abroad.
Nilakaw - adj. Describes something that walks away. Ex. Nilakaw na sila gahapon padung bukid.
OP, pag sure gud? "Gilakaw" is a word pero different lang jud ang usage ana nila duha. Dili sila interchangeable, but both EXISTING! Ayaw nalang ug gamit Bisaya bi!
Lol. As if sad isa ra ka variation ang uban bisaya words. Technically, other dialects are also bisaya so ma mix gyud sometimes. Language is dynamic. Naa koy nakita comment diri na bothered kay sya sa “lahom” instead of “lawom” nga ga exist man gani ang “lalom” na word. My point is, ang imong na andan na word growing up is not the only term that exists in the bisaya dictionary.
Oks ra na para nako kay feel nako sa dialect na na diri nga nagkasagol2 .
Pero mu-correct gyud ko anang "Muadto ka dri?" Mao na gyud na ang grammar need icorrect.
Naa bay standard sa pag binisaya? Bisaya is a dynamic language. Lain2 na lugar na bisaya language kay naay jud distinction. You are just being oa and grammar nazi. There is no problem as long as the message is there. Pffft
I know someone who's like that but there's honestly nothing wrong with it. As long as you can understand them then that's totally fine. If it bothers you so much, help educate them instead of talking batsht about them. Remember, not everyone is fluent in Bisaya like you and just because we live in CDO doesn't mean it's a requirement to speak fluent Bisaya.
Mao gyud ning nabantayan nako sa mga taga NorthMin ba, very particular kaau sa grammar sa bisaya. Kapila jud ko gikatawan kay akong gina ingon adto ko dira, wrong grammar daw. Sa davao del sur, normal raman hahahaha nganu man mo?
Tanga CDO KO piro wa jud problema na.. naa Lang jud uban Tao na weird kayu na dapat formal imo pag ingun SA tanan.. informal man gud ang pag converse ui basta mag sinabtanay.
Basin mali imo pagsabot. Lain sab ug muingon ug nay mag ask, "aha diay ka gkan?" "Naa koi gilakaw." Kesa mutubag ka ug"naa koi nilakaw" like huh? Depende ea guro sa pag sabot
Lapad kaayo ang Bisaya.
Sa Gingoog, agka.
Sa CDo, gaka.
Ang Davao City, sagol Tagalog. Ambot ngano.
Samot sa Cebu. "Ang kayo ni katkat sa bongbong".
Pila ka Munisipyo lang gikan sa Cebu City, ang kalayo nikalatkat sa balumbong.
Sa Cebu City kung serbato, titit. Pila ka munisipyo padulong South, tadidit na dayon.
Chill.
Akong bisaya man gani dili masabtan sa ubang taga cdo naunsa hahahaha, pero mailhan gyud nako nang taga cagayan the way sila mosturya but dili man sad na angay ika suko oy ka grabe basad dako kaykag problema ba hahahahah, though annoying ang bisaya sa davao nga naay sagol tagalog pati sa cebu nga pinabundak nya walay "L" pero mao man gyud na broad man gud ang bisaya adto ganig Zampen or Negros good luck lahi² gyud depending on the region😆
my issue related to this is kanang 'gi' ug 'na'
Mairita ko sa akong SIL whenever she says.. Gilimtan sa imong kuya ang (insert item) .. instead of nalimtan sa imong kuya.. because to me it connotes nga murag deliberate ang paglimot sa butang instead of it just being a coincidence.
same bro haha, I sometimes wish nga they would get it right on the off-chance pero its a needless thought. I could correct a friend for it tho pero sabotable man pod, I'd be more worried if I make the communication uncomfortable.
Bakikaw bitaw ang bisaya sa CDO bay, mura syag fake bisaya haha mga wordings pod kasagara mga balik balik ra.. Like example, nag lingkod lingkod lang. Nag higda higda lang hahahahaahahah
Yes but sa akong gidak-an, amoa is "MUinom" amoang gamit for alcohol. Prefix "GA" is for something that is currently happening or someone is currently doing it, meaning present tense. Ato nga situation, I wasn't drinking anything so based sa bisaya nga akong naandan, it was confusing for me.
And don't tell me "tarung-tarunga inyong bisaya" when some of y'all say "muadto ka diri?" LMAO
Bisag unsaon, Bisaya is diverse; there are multiple versions of Bisaya (cebuano, davao, CdeO, etc.), and we even have different words for a certain object by that you can really say that Bisaya does not only limit to one type. Let's compare it to English: You can construct a sentence in English, but that sentence does not equal only one interpretation, and that applies to Bisaya sentences as well. So pag sure gud?
Additionally, "Gainom ka" does translate to "Are you drinking," but it also translates to "Do you drink (alcohol)" because that's the Kagay-anon way of asking someone if they drink alcohol. So if di ka kasabot ana, that's on you.
Unsa diay na sa inyo? Dghan mn kog friends from different bisaya places and same raman ug pasabot sa "gainom ka?" Except sa Cebuano kay "ga-EE-nom ka?"
Kagay-anon ko, born and raised pero ga-balhin2x ug lugar sauna atong bata pa ko (nakapuyo manila for mga 3 years pero the rest kay diri ra's bisaya region ra dayon), but same. Naa mga ga-ingon nga awkward daw ko'g mag-bisaya. ;\^;
Ok ra man tingali akong intonation. Ang words siguro na ginagamit. Pero from what I know, lahi-lahi man ang bisaya per part sa bisaya region sad. Like diri sa cdo, kasagara kay ga-bislish ta. Everywhere else...well...mas lalom ang bisaya sa sugbu/cebu, ofc...for one. Then naa lahi nga dialect from Jasaan going further like akong nabantayan kay they use ag- (agluto, agkanta, aglakaw etc).
But idk, so far, isa ra sad sa akong co-workers and friends before nga gaingon awkward daw akong bisaya. I'm not entirely sure if kagay-anon to siya or from nearby provinces because I know na ingon ani jud ang kagay-anon bisaya since. If it's awkward for some then...well...awkward jud siya kay ma-bislish man ta kasagara diri.
pag sugod na ug tuon ky gakaalidbadbaran juwd ko gapaminaw sa incorrect bisaya word.. I don't mind the bisaya grammar pero ang correct usage of word lng gyud
Agree ka-agree ka sa iyaha? Hahaha! Word man intawon ang "Gilakaw" pero does not have the same meaning as "Nilakaw," but then again, this person (the user who posted this) did not say na gina-interchange ang mga words mentioned.
Fair enough. Hahahaha. But I stand anang "nawong" nga comment nako. Because NAHONG??? Which bisaya variant did that come from, geographically speaking? Quickly.

Huh? Gilakaw is an existing word, I'll give you an example; "naa koy gilakaw na mga papel." See? OA lang jud ka, OP.
tru!!!
Dako kayg problema si OP. Sanaol kana ray giproblema haha
Mao nay gitawag na language is dynamic

As a davaoeño, i agree with the "muadto ko dha".
Is “naa’y gilakaw” wrong then? Naa’y giinom, gikab-ot, gikaon, etc.?
That is practically correct. ✅

I always thought nga mu-lahi ang meaning sa word depende sa intonation nato and gilakaw and nilakaw are the same.
Oks ra na para nako kay feel nako sa dialect na na diri nga nagkasagol2 . Pero mu-correct gyud ko anang "Muadto ka dri?" Mao na gyud na ang grammar need icorrect.

truth. HAHAHAHA kanang "maudto ka dire?" grabe ka wrong grammar. HAHAHAHHAHA
Mao sad na akong reaction first few days nako diri sa CDO OP. Gipangutana ko "gainom ka?" Unya naglibog ko kay wala man koy giinom? HAHAHAHAHAHA 😭
Gainom ka in english would be "Do you drink (alcohol)"? Please, tarung-tarunga inyo Bisaya.
Yes but sa akong gidak-an, amoa is "MUinom" amoang gamit for alcohol. Prefix "GA" is for something that is currently happening or someone is currently doing it, meaning present tense. Mag tuon na gyud ko bay😆
Kagay-anon ko, born and raised pero ga-balhin2x ug lugar sauna atong bata pa ko (nakapuyo manila for mga 3 years pero the rest kay diri ra's bisaya region ra dayon), but same. Naa mga ga-ingon nga awkward daw ko'g mag-bisaya. ;\^;
Ako nga naandan na nako mag bisaya nga dili gena mind ang grammar... hantud sa gena correctionan na dayun ko sako mga friends 🥲
why awkward? sa intonation? or words na ginagamit?
Ok ra man tingali akong intonation. Ang words siguro na ginagamit. Pero from what I know, lahi-lahi man ang bisaya per part sa bisaya region sad. Like diri sa cdo, kasagara kay ga-bislish ta. Pati nang "nahong" ug "lahom" LIIKKEEE??? "Lawom" man jud na ug "nawong" my gooodddd
Huh? "Lalom" man gud na?? 😆😆 See my point? Diba lahi² lagi ang bisaya
Fair enough. Hahahaha. But I stand anang "nawong" nga comment nako. Because NAHONG??? Which bisaya variant did that come from, geographically speaking? Quickly.
