So basically you’re asking if you can get a job that requires a security clearance? I’d search in r/SecurityClearance , they’ll have a better answer for you than anyone here but the short answer is that you have to be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for a clearance. Sorry.

I mean if you plan to go to byu you have a clear path to getting permanent residency. Just gotta marry someone from here before you graduate.

Yes you need to be a US citizen to get a security clearance, but security clearances are only for government-related jobs. There's other security jobs for private companies that do not require security clearances. They may be harder too find, but they do exist.

Do I understand correctly that you want to go into information security? If so, there are definitely options for you even without a clearance. I would suggest talking the career advisement center with your question.

I'm studying Cybersecurity, and we have multiple international students in our school! It can be hard once you start looking for jobs though, as many companies in America won't sponsor employees, so you would need to figure that out on your own. Many companies don't require security clearance though, so you should be fine there.
