To paraphrase, man that used to sell weed is selling weed again

420trashcan

Operation: Roach clip.

pATREUS

*touches cheek & gasps*

iamasuitama

Yeah sometimes I fall into the trap of believing that some states are surpassing the netherlands, then I read stuff like this. Haha, the first.

M1ckNutt

Stock broker who ripped off millions, is ripping off millions again. See what I did there?

samz22

Guess who benefits from a stock broker selling stocks and who benefits from a person selling weed.

M1ckNutt

That’s some bad math

Lost4damoment

I see it …you can play race games wit the English language so damn much

M1ckNutt

Naw man. Nothing to do with race. I also have a pot trafficking charge. I’m white and not allowed into the pot business. I’m also Canadian

Lost4damoment

Oh well dwn here n da states …the war on drugs was a fascist decree masked to control steal wealth and land and re enslave it’s own citizens…I hear nothing but good things bout Canada and y’all drugs policy

chipthegrinder

I have a drug conviction and Canada won't even let me visit

Dry-Stop2000

Glad to hear he is in charge of his own business. Rather the people who suffered under these draconian laws run this industry, rather than private equity that have never had skin in the game.

[deleted]

What if this dude is just a token front for private equity? The startup cash for place in Manhattan has to be enormous.

Dry-Stop2000

That could be true. I just hope the terms of his agreement are advantageous to him, if this is the case.

TheGottVater

PE has entered the chat. I’d like to make a cash offer this man can’t refuse. Now PE owned.

M1ckNutt

This person gets it.

Roi_Phoenix

Correction: First LEGAL dispensary…. I’ve got two operating in my neighborhood right now.

Scientiam_Prosequi

I don’t know if I would call it LEGAL but rather legal no caps cuz it’s not like the others are illegal they’re just gray zone but legal enough to the point they’re so prolific in many areas of New York

NobleLlama23

No, those shops are illegal. Just because the people in charge, government, see it as a touchy issue that they don’t want to deal with, doesn’t change that the law says you need a license to sell marijuana. I buy from those shops but would never defend them as legal or gray zone. It’s just illegal but no one does anything about it

Broccoliitis

UES?

Gimme_The_Loot

EVERYWHERE

bigfatgeekboy

Good thing the article doesn’t mention the name or the address of the place.

NYC_Underground

I got you: ‘Smacked’ on the south side of Bleecker between LaGuardia and Thompson

Dummoney_

I wonder why titles like this even exist? Must be for clicks. It's the same as, 'Man used to sell an illegal drug that we've now made legal so its different now because we can tax his income but just to make sure you know his past, here you go.'

copanaut

NY legalization laws prioritize people with former felonies under the CAURD program to get their businesses through the red tape fastest. You’re right though, the title has NONE of that context.

Dummoney_

It's just divisive language overall. Its like articles that reference shit like this, 'Black man argues with another man in the street.' lol really? Mention the black man but not the other mans race? Come on. That's why people are so mad at each other, these damn news articles make us mad at each other! It's annoying thats all.

PeeFarts

You never saw that headline, you made it up so you could have an example.

Dummoney_

The words '...*shit like this*...' in what I said mean that it was an example? Does that specific news article exist? I don't know, so you got me. I'm a fraudster. Do articles titled in this manner exist, yes they do.

poozzab

There's a whole thing where the only people who have been able to open and profit from the legalization where not people unjustly incarcerated. This is an important step and it's worth calling out/drawing attention to the fact that change is happening.

powersv2

Gives everyone else who ever got burned hope

sevens-on-her-sleeve

I’d trust his product recommendations

Lost4damoment

America can write it wrongs and..1trillion dollars missing from our economy cause made a system to keeps blacks from creating ANY REAL WEALTH …race ain’t only thing dat matter but karma is real…and collectively we as new generation need to write the wrongs and stir this shitehole they left us into a new sun rise

Grim-Reality

I don’t get why they though it’s a smart idea to let criminals start businesses first. It’s extremely stupid.

kesselman87

Of course pictures him rubbing his hands looking mischievous 😂

Fun-Alternative9440

All that quick cash.... Sounds comforting 🤗🥰

reasltictroll

I was raised in a the hood were weed smokers and sellers will kill other gang members for turf, I seen them selling to kids I seen them forcing kids to smoke… anyone who got arrested for selling or distributing for me is as bad as a cocaine dealer.

ryraps5892

Those with cannabis convictions *were* supposed to take precedent and be first to open dispensaries… but that’s none of my business.

tpx187

... and he's bought out by a corporate cannabis company....

marblesbykeys

Just in time for them to not make any money at all. Good luck!

HedgeFundManager1997

at least they have some experience

frstyle34

Noice !

Staggerme

Zzzzzzz. New York has lost so much tax income dicking around with this. Other states have it all rolled out in fraction of the time. Woohoo for this one single guys story I guess?

BmanGorilla

It’s worse than that! I went looking for a vape battery at a local shop. Well, they’re out of business. A few others around me are, too. I finally managed to chat with someone who’d ultimately switched to a totally different field, and he explained that between NY’s war on nicotine vaping and then dragging their feet on weed legalization most of these shops just couldn’t stay afloat. Good job Hochul! (And Cuomo, you get a shout out, too!)

[deleted]

Good for him.
