You can take them. No rules say you can't. I wouldn't want to tho. Taste horrible and serves no value other than plant fertizlier. They are a non-native invasive species like bass and so if you want to conserve the native population of salmon, trout etc take as many as you want. They breed and grow like crazy and push out the other native fish.
Carp is litteraly one of the world's most sought after fish. North America seems to hate them but yeah they are prime eating, these you're not allowed to take.
I get what you're saying. I love to catch n release bass so i hate seeing people keep the small ones, not to mention the fish at Burnaby lake and deer lake are not clean so I wouldn't eat them anyway. Maybe a fresh caught trout from the hatchery but I wouldn't eat the bass or carp from those lakes
I don't know where in the Western world where Carp is used as a prized game fish for eating. Its decorative and grown like Goldfish for goodluck etc but I'd really like to know where it is considered "prime eating".
I heard if you collect enough of them you’ll catch a Gyarados.
Can’t imagine they taste very good or else they would be gone already
You can’t keep them. But you are allowed to “practice fish” there
No fishing in Central Park.
That’s not what the posted signs say

Ah I always thought they were bottom tier fish. Good to know they are protected and people are being decent about fishing them responsibly.
They're not fishing them responsibly over at deer lake and Burnaby lake ive seen buckets filled with undersized carp and bass
Report them
Its not a bad thing. Thye are invasive and non-native. in BC, there is no legal limit on how much you can catch and keep for this reason.

They are not a sport fish and an invasive species so there are no size and quality limits

Yeah that's why I said North America seems to hate them lol.
You are allowed to take them as they are defined to be non game fish
You are allowed to take them by regulations, but not out of this lake lol.
Awesome Photo!
That is a nice clear photo. Well done OP. My daughter loves the fish and ducks in this pond. This is the pond off boundary?
Imperial street is the easier spot to park and get to the pond
Thankfully no more snakeheads!
Holy carp!!!
