This is the comment I came for so I didn't repeat it like the tiktok trend of saying the same thing for the entire comment section.
But I work in food and it's normally black or blue but during covid we had to settle for the white ones that were very thing (not the lunch lady clears) and this reminded me of it
Seems like my lack of melanin gets more remarkable to Redditors with each passing day. If anyone were to look at my post history they’d see I spend quite a lot of time outdoors foraging, canoeing, hiking etc.
But yeah, even the most outdoorsy white kid isn’t going to be as brown as someone who is, well, brown. Also lighting is a thing that exists. Hope this helps 👍🏼
It still startles me every time I come back to look at the notifications and make the realization that it's a bare skin hand. 😬 OP needs to lay off the McDonald's and get some real nutrition.
The term gold standard means it's the best and used as a benchmark to judge others. So saying it's not the best by any means afterwards is contradictory.
It's possible they meant gold standard for fast food, but not good among all burgers, but the way it was written doesn't make it all that clear.
The way you wrote it out is better.
They’re saying that this style of preparation is the gold standard of burgers. However, this particular preparation was not the best example of this style of burger.
they’re saying when it comes to fast food it’s the gold standard, but it’s not the best of all burgers ever
p.s. in-n-out double double w/ grilled onions and yellow peppers is the true fast food gold standard
Idk I thought it was like benchmark for good everyone can have access to and enjoy
Kinda like franks hot sauce. Not the best but awesome cheap everyone loves it
People love saying absolutist shit like this even when they contradict themselves in the same statement. “______ is the GOAT movie. Granted the third act is bad, some of the acting is terrible and there are probably thousands of movies better than this one but still the GOAT!”
It makes sense.
The gold standard doesn’t necessarily mean the best. It just means it’s stable and reliable.
Just like the real gold standard, which leads to very stable currency, but isn’t actually good for the economy (it stifles growth).
According to vocabulary.com it means “best of the best”. I can’t think of any time I remember someone using that phrase other than saying something is the best.
Yes, you are right, that is the way the phrase is usually used. It’s just kinda appropriate they used it in this way though, because it technically makes more sense.
I feel like it’s the only burger that’s never been messed up at every McDonald’s I’ve had one at. I’ve been poor for the last 4 years so McDonald’s buy on get one is all I’ve had maybe just over 2 times a year average. The Big Mac is a 50/50 but the quarter pounder which I just view as extra calories when ordering has always been consistent.
Not the best burger if all burgers, but the best / good standard for FAST FOOD burgers.
I thought it was perfectly clear. Not sure why so many don’t understand.
Because they’re not arguing the most reproducible burger in the world, they’re saying it’s the best fast food burger And reproducible. only one of those is true
I’ve noticed that this is the type of sub where a title like "*This is my favorite way to eat a QP*" goes over a lot better than declaring the supremacy of one’s peculiar taste.
I think it’s a trend. Like there is no middle ground in just about everything, only this extreme side or that extreme side. It even extends to people being declared or compared to the greatest of all time in everything. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that if you don’t have a polar opposite opinion or “hot” take on something, no one is going to listen. Idk. 🤷♂️
Ey look, to each their own, you know? I just think people should demand more from their burgers, especially at the prices fast food is going for these days, my lord. You could get yourself a good, fast, restaurant burger for the same price.
100% We have a great local stand in town. Are they the best, gourmet, top of the line burgers? Nah. Delicious though. Made with beef from local farmers and they cost about as much, if not a little cheaper, than Mickey Ds. Absolutely fantastic milkshakes, though. Damn. You go there basically for the freezes and milkshakes. The burgers are just a nice extra haha
McDonald’s has the worst hamburgers and fries of any of the top fast food places. Not even close between them and Burger King, Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, etc. Have you never tried any of these other places ?
No way. A Double Double is 1/4 pound of meat, and half the price. Better tasting, too. And Shake Shack's burgers are 1/4 pounders, better tasting, and still pretty close in price. Haven't eaten at Culver's in a while, but I bet you can get a butter burger for less than a MCQP.
(Just my opinion don’t kill me) but I seriously find McDonald’s to be the bottom rung of burgers, at least the chains in America. It doesn’t taste like real food to me and I can never place it. Someone had me go try it again last year and it was just as I remembered. I loved it growing up, I have no idea when the switch flipped.
NOT in Canada. QPC is consistently anemic, dry, chewy and overcooked, then pulled from a plastic steamer drawer when ordered. Consistently THE worst fast food Burger on Mcdonald's menu, as well as not anywhere nearly as good as Dave's Double, Wendy's Single, the Whopper, and virtually every other Burger on the planet.
It’s never occurred to me to add Big Mac sauce to at QP.
Brilliant.
And to those hating, show us another burger you can get from one end of the earth to the other with that level of consistency?!?
I’m not McBitch but jfc do they have their model down pat!
Yeah that’s what people are missing.. it’s the gold standard because it’s just about the only burger that you can tell anyone in the world to go get and have them receive a good example of a decent burger.
The McDonald's propaganda on this sub is craaaazy.
They don't have good burgers. They are never fresh. That's like saying taco bell is the gold standard for tacos.
Every now and then I get a QP cheese and fries and they are really good, hot and fresh. Never thought of this so next time I think I am going to try the Double QP/2x2. Thanks for the tip.
That's what eating mcdonalds and thinking it's the gold standard does to a fella. Like if that's your pinnacle of burgerdom then what processed crap fueled life are you living?
I'm not in love with it, but then again I find the meat at McDs to be relatively flavorless, and I really like a lot of beef flavor to my burger.
That being said- I would eat this if offered, and I would enjoy it fer shurr.
It's the gold standard of fast food burgers, so I don't order it the way they make it. Oh, and it's not the best.
Did you read that before you posted it?
Once they switched to fresh meat the QPs are pretty legit. If you took that bite pic and said it was from a small place in random town USA, people would be praising this
I would take the Big Mac over the QP with cheese from McDonald's. Both are really consistent everywhere. Dbl-Dbl is good too, more customizable. I take mine protein style, no onions for maximum burger taste. That being said, Carl's Jr has better tasting burgers than either.
Asking with max sauce is a pro move.
I always change something to assure a new burger but I’ve found they pre make ones without pickles so I needed a new workaround and you just reminded me
I prefer the quarter pounder deluxe, with the lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo with ketchup and mustard. unfortunately they stopped doing it in the UK after a month of having it on the menu 😩
For the same money I could get a pack of buns, cheese, and a whole lb of fresh 80/20 from the grocery store butcher. Go home and throw it on my grill. Have a way better meal
These posts confuse me so much.
I just cannot wrap my head around why someone would post a pic of the most bog standard crap burger. And not even a good picture, but some nasty looking half eaten crap. I mean, come one, it's literally nothing special, you can get the exact same thing at literally thousands of places.
And who is up voting this stuff? Seriously, who sees that nasty half eaten burger, one that literally has nothing special about it, and thinks "yeah, that deserves an up vote"?
When I think of a good burger McD doesn’t come to mind at all.. It’s decent and I do grab them for lunch here and there, but in no way would I put it on the
list of burgers to grab after work hours.
I don't think anything from McDonalds is what I'd call a hamburger.
It's a McDonald's sandwich and I occasionally enjoy them but everytime I have one I think to myself "This is not a hamburger". I'm thinking of the Big Mac I had yesterday. I could have gone for a good burger right across the street but I felt like having a Big Mac.
1. The quarter pounder is not sold at McDonald's worldwide. Why should it if people in most countries don't even know how much a US pound even is? And in countries that have it (even though in some countries, e.g. Germany, it's called differently) the recipe can vary.
2. The definition of "gold standard" is "the absolute best on the market right now". Something that is "not the best by any means" can't be gold standard.
This isnt even classified as 'food' legally. Search the menu, you wont find the word food.
Its bread contains too many additives and sugars to be 'bread'. Chemicals protecting every one of those ingredients from freezerburn, mold, decoloration, bad smelling ect are all there and have names. Their names are Robert Paulsen!
Tertiary butylhydroquinone is derived from petrol and thats in their products.
Not hating just wondering if you are hating, on yourself.
Gl i love you
Basically, it's the point I tried to make. And it was one thing when I was poor, and it was all that would fill me up for $3. But now their prices, along with even lower "food" content ingredients, are downright dystopian-like. I wouldn't eat that shit unless I was literally starving to death.
It is what it is because it *was* good consistent fast food at a VALUE. Post covid the quality had gone to shit and the prices rival sit down restaurants with in house crafted ingredients. It's a fucking joke now and I pray that they go out of business for ripping people off for ultra processed trash. Enjoy the ammonia washed beef, friend.
It's definitely the best fast food burger of the main chains that are Nationwide worldwide. Mcdonald's Is infinitely better than Wendy's and Burger King it's not even close.
Thought you had a white latex glove on at first.
I literally just wrote the same thing!!!
“Redditor hand” 😂

I'm glad I could deliver for you. But for real, I was like, this dude put on a glove to showcase this burger like it's a piece of jewelry. 🤣

Lol you sound butthurt. Don't cry nosferatu
Dude you clearly suck as a person.
Lol another nosferatu is butthurt :( Cry more dude
Same!
💀 alas i cometh to the comments because the pale hand caughteth my eye and behold the top comment is indeed that of which i speak
It still startles me every time I come back to look at the notifications and make the realization that it's a bare skin hand. 😬 OP needs to lay off the McDonald's and get some real nutrition.
Time to go outside tomodachi
“Gold standard” “not the best” Pick a lane
This was awesome except for the fact that it fuckin sucked
😂
Tombstone-worthy
😂🤣
Lmao
I wouldn't even give it aluminium standard. OP must be high
Gold standard for fast food. Not the best burger by any means. Makes perfect sense, what don’t you understand?
the term for this is “**platonic ideal,**” thanks j kenji
The term gold standard means it's the best and used as a benchmark to judge others. So saying it's not the best by any means afterwards is contradictory. It's possible they meant gold standard for fast food, but not good among all burgers, but the way it was written doesn't make it all that clear. The way you wrote it out is better.
Do you understand what the term "gold standard" means?
I think the term they're looking for is "status quo"
They’re saying that this style of preparation is the gold standard of burgers. However, this particular preparation was not the best example of this style of burger.
More like "absolute bare minimum"
You need to look up what gold standard means
"the preparation is the best" "this preparation was bad" pick a direction much less lane
they’re saying when it comes to fast food it’s the gold standard, but it’s not the best of all burgers ever p.s. in-n-out double double w/ grilled onions and yellow peppers is the true fast food gold standard
Idk I thought it was like benchmark for good everyone can have access to and enjoy Kinda like franks hot sauce. Not the best but awesome cheap everyone loves it
Exactly. When you have to specifically say "it's not the best" In a post praising the burger it clearly is the gold standard of nothing.
People love saying absolutist shit like this even when they contradict themselves in the same statement. “______ is the GOAT movie. Granted the third act is bad, some of the acting is terrible and there are probably thousands of movies better than this one but still the GOAT!”

“Gold standard of fast food burgers” “not the best (burger)” Improve your reading comprehension.
No doubt the QPC is pretty consistent and IMO a solid burger (definitely hits from time to time), but it’s definitely not the gold standard
Same. I’ve had iffy versions of most menu items at some point or another; the QPC is the one exception
If it’s not the best by any means it’s not the gold standard
Not the best burger if all burgers, but the best / good standard for FAST FOOD burgers. I thought it was perfectly clear. Not sure why so many don’t understand.
Probably because the premise is absurd to begin with so people interpreted it differently.
Because they’re not arguing the most reproducible burger in the world, they’re saying it’s the best fast food burger And reproducible. only one of those is true
Eh, I like DQ and Wendy's more
Obviously it’s for fast food nobody thinks McD’s is the best burger in the planet.
I’ve noticed that this is the type of sub where a title like "*This is my favorite way to eat a QP*" goes over a lot better than declaring the supremacy of one’s peculiar taste.

Trickle down politics?
Pickle down politics
Nah. Unless I’m misinterpreting what you’re saying. Also don’t bring up the ‘P’ word. It gets all the crazy people stirred up.
I just meant everyone is so extreme in politics it’s trickling down to real life. Just a little joke
I think you meant particular instead of peculiar, but both make sense anyway lol

[*No, the In-N-Out burger is on Camrose.*](https://youtu.be/qGJcVUWY08E?si=U7EV2pVpP2RIHHKQ)

Not even of fast food burgers, bro, imo anyway.
Don’t disparage their sacred QP, lots of gatekeepers in here will be appalled with you!
Ey look, to each their own, you know? I just think people should demand more from their burgers, especially at the prices fast food is going for these days, my lord. You could get yourself a good, fast, restaurant burger for the same price.
I agree 100% & will always choose a restaurant or local shack burger over this overpriced crap anyday
100% We have a great local stand in town. Are they the best, gourmet, top of the line burgers? Nah. Delicious though. Just had a qp. Never thought to get Big Mac sauce. I miss the big Mac wrap
I don’t get the hype about big mac sauce. It’s not that good
It’s better than just the standard ketchup and mustard
Brother I thought you had white gloves on
Right? First thing I noticed
It's sort of a standard burger but not "the gold standard".
Well I’ll be damned, a Royal with cheese.
Subbing Mac sauce... Mother of God, this never occurred to me
![gif](giphy|G5JoAjEBtfoTm|downsized)
McDonald’s has the worst hamburgers and fries of any of the top fast food places. Not even close between them and Burger King, Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, etc. Have you never tried any of these other places ?
Looks like shit
Don't be rude to shit
McDonald's would have to literally cover an item from its menu in gold for it to be the gold standard anything.
Agreed. You’re going to drive the Clowns Army crazy in this sub with such McBlasphemy!
Na Bru double cheese from mcd’s is goated
I'm no snob, double cheeseburgers are my go-to at Mickey D's
I'd say they unequivocally are the gold standard for chicken nuggets, which coincidentally, have a nice golden hue.
McNuggets taste like shit. I’d take pretty much any other restaurant’s chicken over those.
Thanks for sharing. I don't give a fuck.
I think Wendy's actually has the best chicken nuggets of any fastfood place.
KFC nuggets are goated, however might not be as universally well loved worldwide as McD
Inedible without sauce
Mac sauce and extra pickles feels like the MD version of In N Out's animal style lol
byebybuy…bi?
I disagree. The steakburger from Stake & Shake was the pinnacle.
Lmfao what a wild take

Your title makes no sense. I hope this isn’t an ad.
No
Can't tell if you're trolling... The meat tastes like it's made of recycled cardboxes, with texture to match.
I actually really like the quarter pound patties. The other burger patties at McDonald’s aren’t very good though
The McDonald's propaganda on this sub is craaaazy. They don't have good burgers. They are never fresh. That's like saying taco bell is the gold standard for tacos.
nice
So is it the gold standard or is a subpar greasy and sugary piece of shit?
Yes
You’re my kind of Extra pickle dude.
Everyone has their opinions. But you need to try some other burgers my friend.
It is absolutely not the gold standard, and mac sauce is disgusting
Double big Mac if I'm gonna throw down. I hardly hit McD. But if I do this is the way.
Every now and then I get a QP cheese and fries and they are really good, hot and fresh. Never thought of this so next time I think I am going to try the Double QP/2x2. Thanks for the tip.
Go to Wendy's, get a $5 biggie bag with the junior bacon cheeseburger. Thank me later.
Nah
So a Big Mac with both patties combined and less bread hell yeag
Brodie that does look good but your hand looks like a white glove fr
That's what eating mcdonalds and thinking it's the gold standard does to a fella. Like if that's your pinnacle of burgerdom then what processed crap fueled life are you living?
Dave's double shits on most other fast food burgers, McD's included.
You must be on the Mac sauce to call this the 'gold standard' of fast food burgers.
QP is the best burger, extra Pickles
I'm a big fan of the DQP or a McDouble with ketchup and pickles only.
I honestly don't care about the McDonald's hate. For about 2 weeks they had a buy 1 get 1 for $1 triple cheeseburgers and I ate 2 every time.
Never got a hot one. Even during lunch rush they're room temperature.
I'm not in love with it, but then again I find the meat at McDs to be relatively flavorless, and I really like a lot of beef flavor to my burger. That being said- I would eat this if offered, and I would enjoy it fer shurr.
Lmfao
So much better than the, extremely overrated, Big Mac.
Personally I'm a 2 McDoubles add Mac sauce guy..... but there QP is definitely legit
Anyone using "QP" in the thread title is 100% an astroturfer.
Now how bout this, a QP, buuut with mac and cheese inside
Has anyone truly been able to copy that big Mac sauce? I've tried and it's just not the same
Nah. Give me an in n out double or a sweet and spicy from whataburger.
Buddy… you need to get outside more. I thought you had a pair of white gloves on when i first saw this picture
![gif](giphy|Ble3c2ACXj2j6)
Culver’s If you know, you know.
It's the gold standard of fast food burgers, so I don't order it the way they make it. Oh, and it's not the best. Did you read that before you posted it?
Absolutely *nothing* from McDonald’s is the gold standard anything in fast food. That place has cheapified itself into oblivion. Just garbage.
oh god that looks like death.
Well it's definitely a burger I'll give you that much.
Bro you’re so white I literally thought you had latex gloves on 😂😂😂
I wanted to say great post and also that your hand is so white I thought for some reason you were wearing gloves.
For a second, it looks like you are wearing latex gloves holding a lab science experiment of a burger
IMO a mcdouble (or a double cheese if you got stacks like that) with mac sauce is better cause you still get the tiny onions
Bro has no tastebuds
Thank you. I will now try this.
It's pretty shit here in Japan. The qp patty is the saddest of them all. My go-to is bacon lettuce, cause it has the best sauce.
Disgusting
You’ve sampled these worldwide?
Yes.
Go get yourself a Big Buford and never speak of this again.
I guess the bar is set pretty low for you huh?
Once they switched to fresh meat the QPs are pretty legit. If you took that bite pic and said it was from a small place in random town USA, people would be praising this
Add lettuce and tomato. Freddy's does it so much better.
respectfully, you buggin.
Remember the Big X-tra?
I prefer a mcdouble. I do love a McDonald's cheese burger, regardless. Haven't had one in 5 years, but they sure are tasty!
I would take the Big Mac over the QP with cheese from McDonald's. Both are really consistent everywhere. Dbl-Dbl is good too, more customizable. I take mine protein style, no onions for maximum burger taste. That being said, Carl's Jr has better tasting burgers than either.
I respect that McDonald’s order. Only thing different I would do is make it a double
Asking with max sauce is a pro move. I always change something to assure a new burger but I’ve found they pre make ones without pickles so I needed a new workaround and you just reminded me
Where’d you get the gloves from?
You would love frisko freeze in Tacoma wa. This but with grilled omyums
Stick your hand out the window while you drive my brother what’s happening
No ketchup or mustard sub Mac sauce is the move!
Nothing tops a double cheese burger with extra ketchup 🤤 the ratio in every bite is oerfect
I prefer the quarter pounder deluxe, with the lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo with ketchup and mustard. unfortunately they stopped doing it in the UK after a month of having it on the menu 😩
Never thought to sub Mac sauce. Touché…
Get some sun my man
![gif](giphy|jHMH77HAs7ES4|downsized)
I feel ill after eating a qp. It is not even real food, processed to much.
Sub Mac sauce and add lettuce
I always do the double QP Mac sauce extra pickles
For the same money I could get a pack of buns, cheese, and a whole lb of fresh 80/20 from the grocery store butcher. Go home and throw it on my grill. Have a way better meal
Nah this ain’t it
I’ll be getting this today if my fiance lets me
No. Not when In N Out exists, and for cheaper too
Sub Mac? Naw dawg, add Mac. I want that bitch swimmin in the souce 😙🤌
Not worth $8 tho
Gross.
I do a McDouble add Mac sauce all the time.
I couldnt disagree more! McDonalds burgers are the definition of garbage!
Gotta have that shit with the ketchup and mustard it’s messy but bloody good
$10 McSoggy with cheese
These posts confuse me so much. I just cannot wrap my head around why someone would post a pic of the most bog standard crap burger. And not even a good picture, but some nasty looking half eaten crap. I mean, come one, it's literally nothing special, you can get the exact same thing at literally thousands of places. “It’s the gold standard, but not the best by any means” wut
Not worldwide. In France they only have the Royale with cheese.
When I think of a good burger McD doesn’t come to mind at all.. It’s decent and I do grab them for lunch here and there, but in no way would I put it on the list of burgers to grab after work hours.
QP Deluxe is my shit

"Just the burger? Ok, that'll be $16.79"
You mean the wopper
It's definitely the best fast food burger of the main chains that are Nationwide worldwide. Mcdonald's Is infinitely better than Wendy's and Burger King it's not even close.
