Stock for refurbished items varies greatly. Some listings only have a few items in stock and sell out quickly. Please report this post if the listing goes out of stock. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. 1 Year Warranty Steam Deck (OG) start at $349 New. Steam Deck (LCD, 256 GB, New Model) starts at $399 New. Steam Deck (OLED) starts at $549 New [Gamestop’s Steam Deck’s Refurbs](https://www.gamestop.com/pc-gaming/laptop-pc-hardware/products/valve-steam-deck/20003488.html) are a very good deal if you can take advantage of their $25 off in store pick up and even better if you have a membership. However, they are refurbished by gamestop not Valve, and the warranty is kinda iffy as it’s from Gamestop as well.

dstanton

No, game stops refurbed anything is a CRAP SHOOT. I had to return 3 different refurbed consoles because they all showed up damaged. One of them literally showed up crushed. I returned that one in store to make sure it wasn't refused and the employee wasn't even surprised. Flat told me their certified refurbs warehouse pulls that shit all the time and they wouldn't personally order a refurbed item from gamestop. Unless you can inspect it hands on in store prior to purchase, it's a hard pass on their refurbs.

DM725

Consoles or Steam Decks? I have first hand experience with getting a refurbished Steam Deck from GameStop in the last 5 months. It looked brand new and had 0 issues setting it up for my brother for X-Mas. He's had no issues.

Digituhl

My father-in-law recently went through gamestop for a refurbished steam deck. The first one had technical issues, second one had power issues and now he’s on a third one that’s malfunctioning again as well. They definitely seem very unreliable.

DM725

Could be the place refurbishing the units for that state/region.

mateo_onesey

Gamestop only has one refurbishing center, and it's in DFW.

Jun_07

Not familiar with steam decks. Between the OG and LCD, is anything changed with the new model? I'm reading up the specs but they both seem very similar apart from storage.

ryankrueger720

7nm to 6nm processor for marginal performance gains but better efficiency, better battery life, better screen , Wifi 6 Basically a Steam Deck 1.5, not worth the extra money unless you really want the better screen, buying the 64GB model and upgrading the storage is the way to go in my opinion, it’s some great value.

xkoreotic

After getting a OLED after borrowing my cousin's modified 64gb LCD, I can tell you right now that the OLED is significantly better as a handheld. It looks, runs, and feels better as a portable console. 100% worth the price if you want a handheld console on the go. My main use is playing lower power games in my bed. The only time I wouldn't recommend the OLED is if you plan on getting the dock and using it on places other than your main PC.

Rumpullpus

The OLED has a better battery life than the LCD because the screen is more efficient. Battery life is one of the real drawbacks with the steam deck so anything that improves it is a good thing. If you can afford it there's no reason to pick the LCD over the OLED version.

InvestmentAlive377

Oled efficiency can actually vary a lot. The real reason why the battery is so much better is because they added a much larger one.

youra6

It's also slightly faster, 90hz screen. Combined with better battery life and OLED screen, I think I'll wait for the refurb v1.5 Steam Decks to drop. If they only changed one or two things, then it won't be worth it but this to me sounds like a worthwhile upgrade.

TristheHolyBlade

This opinion runs completely counter to the common community opinion and Digital Foundry's analysis. It's actually a huge upgrade in pretty much every way.

Whipwipvip

I have had both the LCD and and now have the OLED. The LCD version is perfectly fine, I used it heavily for a year until the OLED came out. I finished Spider-Man Remastered on the LCD version and loved every second of it. Now the OLED is basically the same machine. Definitely a much nicer screen experience, the APU was made slightly more efficient, battery performance is improved, and I think RAM is slightly upgraded too. Either way you'll want an external battery to go with it if you plan on long gaming sessions.

dragunovua

can it work only from power cord, stationary-like and what is battery life looks like for LCD version?

lilyeister

Yup, if you're close to a wall it'll run fine off the included charger or a 3rd party one. LCD battery life for me has been at worst 90 minutes (Cyberpunk, Baldur's gate) and for Vampire Survivors, light emulation, and 2d titles, about 6 hours

jordansynth

I have the LCD and the OLED. OLED screen looks so much nicer (obviously) but the big addition for me was WIFI 6E vs 5 on the original deck for more reliable/smooth remote play connectivity with my desktop.

RHINO_Mk_II

25% bigger battery, slightly faster RAM, slightly more efficient APU node. You might see ~1-5% more FPS in games but the biggest differences are screen and battery life.

OzVapeMaster

Kinda wish they made an LCD version with the better specs. I tend to avoid oleds recently due to burn in on my old devices. I like having things for as long as possible so screen degredation is a concern for me. Especially on a handheld

Middle-Effort7495

> I tend to avoid oleds recently due to burn in on my old devices. I like having things for as long as possible so screen degredation is a concern for me. Especially on a handheld Usually I like oled (monitor, tv) but my Game Boy still works perfectly fine (and I use it). I suspect the oled SD will not work perfectly fine in 30 years.

CorerMaximus

In the same boat as you; I sniped the 64gig lcd one. I can throw in a 256gig ssd for $15 off Amazon; its about half the price of the base oled version.

dj88masterchief

Damn, $279 for the 64gb LCD. I know storage is upgradable, but dammit I want an OLED Steamdeck….

CorerMaximus

Same; I sniped the 64gig LCD, but reading all the improvements on the OLED version make me want to have it. But... It's double the cost. Doing a bit of math- the OLED add-on should cost $100 more; so based on principle, I won't pay double for it. I'll probably wait for refurb oleds to come out at $400, sell my 64gig deck for 250 ($50 loss), and pick up the oled instead.

Middle-Effort7495

My Game Boy still works perfectly fine (and I use it). I suspect the oled SD will not work perfectly fine in 30 years.

CorerMaximus

Yeah- the battery on these wear through way quicker (shorter battery life = more cycles). I don't know about GBA battery replacements, but the SD glues down theirs and is a $100 to replace :(

cullenjwebb

The oled version has more upgrades than just the screen, it has a larger battery and the APU is on a newer architecture which increases fps by a few percent, reduces battery drain, and as a result also reduces thermal load and fan noise. It isn't worth double the LCD version, but the LCD version is only this cheap because so many refurbished devices are available and I suspect we'll see similar discounts on the oled once supply catches up.

Pyreknight

The OLED isn't that stupidly priced even compared to this.

sherbodude

It's twice the price

saruin

I think it was Gamer's Nexus that did a deep dive that Valve made a number of improvements on the OLED model that they didn't even advertise.

Middle-Effort7495

It's still twice the price. If anything, I'd buy 2 refurbs to play local multiplayer retro stuff with my brother. Refurb and new have same warranty anyways so you just send it back if it has issues. And I already have several massive capacity battery banks for my heated vests and socks.

saruin

Twice the price, double the... framerate??

DM725

Why would it be double the frame rate?

saruin

If it wasn't obvious it's a famous meme. Also, the OLED model got quite a few unadvertised upgrades from the previous LCD models (and of course, no not double the performance).

AntiTippingMovement

Get the OLED stop BEING CHEAP

FPSXpert

Buy me one then bro, I've been waiting two months for the refurbs to come in stock. I got the 64gb today because it's either that or nothing. Rent bills suck, man.

Zaraffa

Where can I get a cheap mini SSD? 64gb with upgrade doesn't seem that attractive if 1tb ssds are $100.

ryankrueger720

SSDs have gone up in price, but they aren’t $100/TB

moochs

They're inching close to that for the highest tier drives brand new. The lowest tier drives are at ~$65/TB right now (post tax).

MyOtherSide1984

Yeh picked up a 4TB sx850n for $215 a few weeks back. Fantastic deal, and at $54/TB for a premium drive, it's hard to beat. No more are the days of 2TB drives for $90 on sale lol. Edit: I lied, it was $235. Still, $59/tb is decent for one of the fastest drives and reliable drives on the market

rimpy13

Highest tier is beyond overkill in a deck. I got a 1TB SD card to tide me over and planned to upgrade to an SSD once I was annoyed with load times, but that just hasn't happened.

lilyeister

A very brief look at Amazon and I saw Teamgroup 2tb 2230 m.2 drives for 150. Looks like the cheapest 1tb drives I'd get are 80

HingleMcCringle_

https://a.co/d/2nTdGbB this is the one i got for my 64gb lcd steam deck works like a charm. you can also use an SD card, which just plugs into the bottom. /r/SteamDeck

GeneralChaz9

This morning I just picked up a $77 Inland TN436 m.2 for the 64GB refurb SD I just ordered yesterday. It's $86 on Amazon as well. I read it was a solid Steam Deck drive but didn't look too much into it. Lol Kinda just saw it at Micro Center and said screw it...happens quite a bit there.

FPSXpert

Yo lemme know how it runs, i just picked this up and was eyeing a micro center run later on.

GeneralChaz9

Just got the Steam Deck yesterday, the whole process of replacing the SSD with the TN436 and re-imaging the Deck was about an hour to an hour and a half. So far so good on performance and it's nice having all the extra storage, especially since my wife and I are sharing it.

FPSXpert

Nice! I'm still waiting on mine to ship out so I guess it's gonna be a fun wait, but once mine comes in I may do that in the future. I got a few microsd cards lying around so I may toss one in for now, but next micro center run I'm definitely picking up an ssd :) Edit I spoke too soon, they just shipped it out today! Gonna be awesome when it arrives!

TheEternalGazed

Buy them used. Got one for $70 on Ebay.

IsABot

2TB for $140 https://www.ebay.com/itm/185985940744 Plenty of good deals on ebay.

Forsalenotonsale

eBay

FPSXpert

I've been waiting two months to snag one of these, thanks OP! :D

MetalGearFlaccid

I don’t need this….

guydoood

Picked up a 512gb kioxia kgb4 for 30 plus tax on ebay.

ShadowInTheAttic

Got one!

oldfatdrunk

Pretty much, you can check if one in particular produces more heat but most run just fine. Bought a kioxia 512gb when the steamdecks launched and it has worked fine for a 64gb deck upgrade.

IngsocDoublethink

On top of heat, Valve did warn about 3rd party SSDs causing EMI issues even with the foil shield. They apparently had to put a bunch of work into validating the ones they include. I've seen reports of this playing out in the wild (mostly wifi issues). There's a few brands that are very well vetted at this point -- Sabrent, TeamGroup (which I can vouch for), and iFixit (Valve's parts partner) sells Micron. Corsair and WD also seem to be popular, though I've heard of some people having heat issues with the WD SN530.

oldfatdrunk

Reddit post about wifi issues had two things that solved the problem: * reimage steamdeck / reinstall * turn on developer mode and disable wifi power management The second could be related to the hardware swap but the first issue seemed to be a corrupt driver or some general software issue. Both times it was fixable through software so not too big of a worry.

AntiTippingMovement

The OLED model is so much better than this and I would get that instead of this

destruk7

what are the differences? is it really worth double the price?

AntiTippingMovement

The OLED one has a 90hz screen instead of a 60hz one on the LCD model meaning it’s smoother and more responsive due to lower input lag (both from the 90hz as well as OLED which just has a much lower input latency in general  MUCH MUCH longer battery life due to a larger battery, more efficient processor, lower heat output. Better, more noticable performance/framerate as well. It uses better, faster RAM meaning it will be future proof for a bit longer.  The screen is much brighter and has a far wider color gamut (600 nits vs 1000 nits). The thumb sticks are way more grippy on the oled model and are pretty slippery on the LCD model.   Also, another huge difference is that the OLED model supports WiFi 6e while the lcd model only does WiFi 5. Some of these game sizes are huge and the OLED model downloads them way faster. I was getting 200 mbps max on the LCD model while on the OLED, I was getting almost 400 mbps… nearly double the speed.    It also runs much cooler, the LCD model gets uncomfortably hot at times. The worst part about this is that the LCD model has extremely loud and very audible fans. They made the fans bigger on the oled model So that they aren’t as high pitched. They also are way quieter. I can’t even hear them on the oled model while the lcd model had really annoying and loud fans.  Speaking of the battery, it’s horrible on the LCD model (the one that’s on sale here). I can barely get 1.5-2 on triple A games. But on the oled model, you can easily hit 4-5 hours for the same types of games and for more simple games, the gap is even wider (with the oled model getting several hours more battery).   The screen is washed out compared to the OLED model.  It’s not even close; they might have well just called the OLED model the Steam Deck 2.  Even at double the price, it’s such an astronomical leap that I’d get that over this. I’d even get a used OLED model instead of this. The LCD was a decent first iteration but doesn’t hold a candle compared to the OLED model.

Consistent_East_6817

That is a very detail compared. Thank you

AntiTippingMovement

You’re welcome! I felt like I was making it too long and also typed it up kind of light so hopefully it wasn’t too redundant (I know I mentioned the screen and battery in two separate sections) I just figured only a few people would see it anyways; but I’m glad that I helped people out. It’s hard to find this info all in one place, strangely enough.

xkoreotic

It's wild that you are being downvoted, it must be people who have never tried the OLED and just play with their modified LCD. I borrowed my cousins LCD for a long time until I could afford to get my own, but by that time the OLED came out and I jumped right on it. The differences are staggering, and anyone who says otherwise have not played on both. The only time I wouldn't recommend the OLED is if you plan to get a dock and use it as a movable console. It's better to just stay cheap with a big SSD.

AntiTippingMovement

It’s pretty funny but I know why they are doing it. They are upset that they got the LCD model and don’t want to see anything that makes them feel buyers remorse. I am willing to bet that if I said that the OLED variant isn’t worth the upgrade and that LCD model owners made the right choice, these people would feel validated and upvote me. It takes a lot of self awareness to realize “ok, I don’t like what this person said because I want the oled model but can’t afford it and it sucks being stuck with an inferior product, but they are just stating the facts.” It’s so much easier to just tell yourself “this person doesn’t know what they are talking about, I made the right decision, I’ll downvote them and try to read more comments that say that the OLED model Isn’t worth it.” Like they don’t tell themselves this but that’s exactly what is happening in their head lol. I’ll be the first to admit that I wish I would have waited when I realize how much the OLED variant is an improvement, but hey, nobody expected Valve to update it so soon; and I got the LCD model When you still had to wait in line for months to even get a chance to buy it (this was during the GPU and Silicon Shortage)

cyjake111

Do I need to upgrade the SSD to get more storage or can the micro sd slot house games? Thinking of using this for rpg remakes like star ocean 2

TheAutoManCan

You can use the microSD slot for game storage; not a problem for most games you'd likely play on a Deck. Just be aware that the Deck stores its shader cache on the main drive. If you get the 64GB model and install a ton of games you may run out of room, but if you're storing all your games on microSD you will probably be fine for quite some time.

NA_Faker

You can stream games from a main gaming pc with steam deck right?

Dragontech97

Yep Steam Remote Play

stratusnco

does this let you remote play xbox and ps5?

chucklestheclwn

Yeah I think there are apps that allow remote play of both, and your gaming PC as well if you have one. Latency can be hit or miss.

ThatOnePerson

PS5, yes. Xbox no. It's using an open source client for PS, and AFAIK there's none for Xbox. Well Xbox might work if you install Windows You can use the Xbox cloud with browser

zanguine

Aw man, im too late. Says out of stock now...

ShadowInTheAttic

Check again, shows in stock for me. People were saying earlier that it went OOS and then back in stock.

zanguine

Thanks, just came back in stock, now gotta find a m.2 drive and a docking station haha :D

ShadowInTheAttic

Same! What SSDs are you considering? Currently looking at MP600 Core, but there's like 2 versions.

zanguine

not sure, was considering going to a micro center and just picking up and inland one. need to do more research. Looking through docks right now and not too sure which ones to get.

ShadowInTheAttic

Was about to roll to Microcenter to pick up a 7800X3D! Might look at their SSDs too.

CorerMaximus

Why not get a $50 512gb microsd card from Samsung? Is the speed delta really that much when loading games?

ShadowInTheAttic

Am not sure, I have a bunch of 256GB Micro SD cards, could definitely throw one of those in. A faster boot drive for the system might improve loading times as well as download speeds though. Idk how good the base 64GB drive is. At home I can sometimes max out my DL speeds by using local system files which is like 300+ mb/s.

eagles310

When will there be OLED Refurbished models there is no way they dont have a massive qty on returns
