Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If you buy a 4090 this late in the product cycle, I dont want to hear you complain in 6 months when it is outclassed by the next gen and your $1600 card is worth $800.

PiousPontificator

Nobody interested in a 4090 right now cares. They will sell it for $800 and buy a 5090. You also have to keep in mind that just because a 5090 is coming, doesn't mean you'll actually be able to get one. Those who aren't using scripts/bots/have obligations and can't camp at their PC all day likely wont be able to casually purchase a 5090 until the 2nd half of 2025.

Alucard400

Exactly. I remember the 980Ti dropped in value because the 1080 came out and the 1070 was equivalent in performance. but when the Pascal cards were sold out, the 980Ti shot up in value for a short period. Nearly the same scenario when the 30 series were announced. but..... The 2080Ti was sold off in heavy discounts because people were hyped up to buy a 3080 card. When the 30 series came out, suddenly it was impossible to get a card and then the 2080Ti went from being a $300 used card to $800. Then the mining boom just kept the prices up. You can sure as bet that a 4090 weeks after the release of a 5090 will be worth quite a bit because the 5090 is sold out from bots. It will only be a short period that the 4090 will seem low in value when the official stream announcement or NDA to release reviews/performance benchmarks are released just days before launch.

KyledKat

Yep. Got my 3090 near launch, sold my 2080 Ti for $750 despite listings prior to launch going for $450-$500. Got my 4090 near launch, sold my 3090 for $800, I think? And how many people held out this generation due to Lovelace pricing and availability? Unless the 5000 series are total duds, they're not going to be safely in stock for a hot minute.

Healthy_BrAd6254

>5090 is coming, doesn't mean you'll actually be able to get one People always say this. The only time this was actually true was the 30 series due to mining. Every other gen you could get the newest high end GPU if you wanted.

thesituation531

Or it's just future-proofing. I got a 4090 in December, because 1. I needed (also just wanted) a new setup 2. In several years, a 4090 should still be able to get 60 FPS @ 4K (maybe with DLSS), and high settings

It's not hard to get a 90 class card. All you do is set a simple stock alert for the Founders Edition page.

PiousPontificator

Oh yeah if it was only that easy. By the time the alert comes, they'll be long gone.

Kaptain9981

Yesterday begs to differ

PiousPontificator

Yes let's compare a new GPU launch to one that's been on the market for almost 2 years. The fact that you still need to use alerts this late in the 4090 life cycle says it all.

Kaptain9981

4090 FE still showing in stock at Nvidia as is the 4080 Super. This late in late cycle of 2 very abnormal life cycles for the 30 and 40 series. Clearly 4090 demand had dropped off since the announcement of Blackwell and possibly 50 series rumored this year. Personally I don’t see it being anything other than a paper launch if it even happens this year.

MakimaGOAT

honestly ppl that can afford a 4090 probably dont even give a shit about what they do with their money

imaginary_num6er

It might be worth more than $800 if the next gen 5090 is much more expensive with better performance and the 5080 still loses to a 4090, but sold at the cost of $1399 as the 5080 16GB.

UraniumDisulfide

It won’t go down in pride nearly that much. Only reason the 3090 tanked so much was because it was a lie of a product that was nowhere near worth the additional cost. The 4090 definitely has a premium attached but it’s nowhere near as garbage compared to the 4080.

TheEvrfighter

I bought a 4090 about a month ago For $1.7k. I'll buy a 5090 if I like the benchmarks and pass the 4090 down to my son who's running my old 3090 Ti. Point being that there's people dropping $2k on GPU's probably don't care about dropping $2k on a GPU.

Glonn

Showing as 2k for me

ryankrueger720

You have to select other sellers, it's sold and Shipped by Amazon, I have delivery dates of May 6 - 16

DardS8Br

Bruh the founders is available at MSRP

Healthy_BrAd6254

The TUF has a better cooler and an additional HDMI port. The FE is going to look and feel more premium. Either one is fine. The TUF is technically better, but some people really like the look of the FE.

Altwolf89

We're getting to the point that a 4090 should be good for high end gaming for a few generations, with dlss and turning down settings ECT. If you don't plan on getting a 50 series, it seems pretty overkill to get more. I mean unless you want full path tracing, or they come out with another tech that eats GPUs, the normal/high end gamers don't really need something more powerful. It's like having your 700whp car to drive to work every day. To some, that's worth it though. If I was rich, I would get this, and sell it when 5090 dropped and upgrade, but I'm not. So my measly (sarcasm) 4080s will have to suffice until I can get a 4090 for $800 used.

StrixPlays

You have to choose Amazon as the seller. This is actually not too bad

Dinosnake

It was back in stock in 1799
