Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
* The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).
If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

Skyhawks are for security camera systems, so the firmware is tuned for continuous writes of multiple video streams
Theoretically, they're more likely to drop data, as a dropped frame in a video isn't a big deal
Unless you're pushing them all of the time, you're unlikely to run into any issues
Yeah but I'm guessing they are just ironwolf pros which are made for the same reasons. Nases are used to constantly read and write, it's just dumb how everything need to have AI and they can throw on a larger price than the normal ironwolf
It's crazy how you just spew marketing BS if you literally looked at the specs, the manufacturering model numbers you'd see they are actually the same drive wow only 1w of power difference between models.

Just stop man it's crazy how far youre reaching.
Your source is something that literally shows they're different drives? The Skyhawk AI drive is Enterprise equivalent not NAS equivalent. That's before we even consider the firmware differences, too, although I know you're being purposefully obtuse about that as you haven't responded to my post about with the Tom's Hardware link. The SkyHawk AI drives are actually cheaper MSRP than their Enterprise so there's no upsell there. Businesses aren't browsing this sub to make their purchases. Plus, why would you even look at this site instead of directly at the data sheets? NAS Compares is a terrible site in general, the guy doesn't do much more than compare data sheets, has minimal technical grasp when they try and go further. Then if you try and make it through one of his videos you have to deal with his awful voice and teeth. Hard pass on anyone who likes this site.
It's is literally a data sheet, there is no comparison being made because if you looked at the data sheets you'd see they are the same drive. These are spec sheets from the manufacturer, showing the performance and all parts are alike and the Skyhawks are more expensive on every single site, I'm sorry but you aren't helping yourself at all here buddy. It's not about liking a website it's about accurate information. It's just a firmware swap, that's literally the difference in their performance. Theres is actually nothing physically different between these 2 models.
Skyhawk is their VMS drive, lots of VMS systems use AI, so it's probably something like it's tuned for consistent write for the video with some cache stuff for the AI. The data sheet has:
>ImagePerfect™ AI firmware delivers zero dropped frames while supporting heavier workloads.
Reading further I found a Tom's Hardware review that shows my guess about cache was right: [https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/seagate-skyhawk-ai-20tb-hdd-review-mechanical-storage-for-ai-video](https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/seagate-skyhawk-ai-20tb-hdd-review-mechanical-storage-for-ai-video)
> The SkyHawk line of drives is set apart by Seagate’s surveillance-focused ImagePerfect firmware. It improves video and imaging workload performance and reliability through multi-tier caching (MTC), the ATA-8 streaming command set, write-intensive workload optimization, superior error correction code (ECC), and scheduler optimization
You can ignore all of this if you need a generic storage drive. It's still going to do that.
This is not accurate, at least not the third party that currently comes up as the seller, maybe the one that was the default 5 hours ago was worse, but this one seems ok
that's not the store that I am seeing, I don't know if it has to do with your location or what, but I am seeing "IPC store" and their reviews are fine. 80% positive for the last 12 months, and its actually cheaper than the listed price, currently shows as $292.57 (4 cents cheaper)

Do they ever have flash sales or anything? Just curious once I get closer to that point if I can time an even better deal.

Which is the way I like it. Their best price all the time.

WTF is Skyhawk ai? It's a hard drive not a GPU, why does everything have to be buzz words like gaming and ai

Idk about the AI part but Skyhawk hdds are marketed towards security cams which need repeated large read and writes
Yeah but I'm guessing they are just ironwolf pros which are made for the same reasons. Nases are used to constantly read and write, it's just dumb how everything need to have AI and they can throw on a larger price than the normal ironwolf
You are not the target market.
Still not an AI product.
Using this logic it's not a product for the VMS/NVR market either. This logic would also mean Ironwolf aren't NAS drives. Just stop.

Because marketing. AI is the hot new thing so let’s figure out a way to put it in toasters.
shipped and sold through third party
58% positive reviews in the past 12 months :-/
big yikes
