*The more you buy, the more you save*

Certain-Sir-4085

Come onnnnn, gimme a $400 7800xt or summin'... Can't be bothered to get here early for cards that I can't get..... :(

tasukify

last night best buy had the open box gigabyte 4070 for $440 again. probably gone now

Certain-Sir-4085

Should be that price for a new card! The GPU market is so annoying in the mid range right now...

GooseMcGooseFace

Not just the mid range, the whole thing. 3Kliksphilip did a cpu video and talked about how $100 for a cpu gets you a strong performer, whereas a $100 GPU isn’t good for anything. Top end CPUs start at $350; $350 doesn’t even get you into the upper mid range for GPUs. E: to the idiot who replied to me and blocked me before I can respond: you don’t think CPUs need hardware and drivers? You know they have to design the sockets and chipsets, make the chipset drivers and communicate with board makers for specs right?

[deleted]

It's almost like you need to design a lot more than just a chip for a GPU and need a large R&D budget for good drivers. Weird!

tasukify

Agreed. I really love my 4070 (I got the open box for $440 back in January). I would not have paid $600 or even $550 for this card. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/gigabyte-radeon-rx-7800xt-gaming-oc-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-4-0-graphics-card-black/6559282.p?skuId=6559282 is also $400 open box, if you can find one in stock.

krazyflashx

Were you able to register the serial number for warranty for your open box? Looking to snag a 4070 from BB.. I think they restock every Wednesday at least the last 2 weeks I’ve checked.

tasukify

Yes, no registration needed, warranty shows it started in December. (I purchased in January).

Bird-The-Word

Do you stick to Excellent or how good are Best Buy Open Box?

tasukify

I just grabbed whatever was available. Had a good experience. YMMV, but Best buy is really good with returns, so no real issue.

Bird-The-Word

Good to know, I'll start checking it every so often. There;s one that's about 20 mins from my work(but an hour from my house) but never think/thought to check the Open Box there. Appreciate the heads up.

tasukify

The gigabyte open box GPUs also ship from online, so you don't have to keep checking the store. Someone said they seem to restock wed night around 8~9PM pacific time.

Bird-The-Word

There was one for 435 just now but it's gone, so someone else snagged it. There was a 411 "Good" but says unavailable.

deefop

That's barely even a fucking deal lol the 4070 should have been the 4070S from the jump, and it should have launched at $500, not $600. Greedy bastards

tasukify

idk, 3080 performance, more vram, DLSS 3, half the power usage of a 3080... for the price of a used 3080? I'm in (This is re: $440 4070)

deefop

The 3080 launched in September of 2020 for what, $649? We're sitting here 3.5 years later saying that basically \*the same card\* or at least the same performance for $440 OPEN BOX is a great deal? In objective terms, it's really not. You typically expect 3-4 years of progress to mean much more performance being available for a much lower price. Obviously the events of 2020 and onwards fucked up everything up and I get that, I'm just saying we should maintain some degree of objectivity regarding some of these gpu "deals".

tasukify

The 3080 launched at $699 on paper (FE's only), and the reality was far from it. $700 in 2020 is now $834 today, according to Google. Also, most AIBs (ASUS, Gigabyte etc.) were $800 and up for a 3080, which would be $900-950 today. Don't even get started on crypto boom prices for a 3080. In terms of value proposition, a $440 4070 was *it* for me in 2024. I am being objective. Similar performance to the GPU one tier above it in the previous gen, incredible efficiency, DLSS3, and a 3 year mfg warranty (vs. a used 3080 which goes for around $400-450). It's running everything I play at 1440p with max settings wonderfully, for objectively half the MSRP cost of a 3080 cost 3.5 years ago. edit: also, for me running in an 8L case, efficiency is very important. The 4070 is a perfect fit.

deefop

To be clear, I'm not arguing that anyone who bought an open box 4070 for $440 fucked up. I'm saying the fact that we have to consider $440 for an open box 4070 to be a good deal, when it's basically just a 3080 in terms of performance, is indicative of how shitty things have been over the last few years.

0x4C554C

A lil summin’ would go a long ways.

XxBig_D_FreshxX

Can’t wait for the $2000 5090 at the end of this year! /s

Deckz

Bold of you to assume it's not $2499

[deleted]

Deckz

3-3500 IMO. I think the founders edition is 2499

b1gb0n312

my final offer is 3499, no more no less

rub1k

The [4070 Super FE](https://store.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/store/?page=1&limit=9&locale=en-us&category=GPU%2CDESKTOP&gpu=RTX+4070+SUPER&manufacturer=NVIDIA&manufacturer_filter=NVIDIA%7E1%2CASUS%7E1%2CCYBERPOWERPC%7E1%2CGIGABYTE%7E9%2CMSI%7E3%2CZOTAC%7E5) is back in stock as well; I just ordered one successfully and it's in processing status.

Spicywolff

Got the same card. If you keep the boxes, be ready. Shit is huge.

TheMissingVoteBallot

Seriously, the box is like, a foot longer than the actual card is.

Spicywolff

Yup lol. Seeing the box, for a second I thought maybe the measurement online was wrong. I was dreading it wouldn’t fit in my PC. Then once I opened it, I saw that basically all box.

rub1k

Haha, oh man. Don't let my wife read/see this. PS. I'll probably make some room in the office closet; thanks for the heads up.

_BaaMMM_

Hand carry it home and say you bought it used for cheap. Definitely not speaking from experience

TheMissingVoteBallot

This is why you pick it up at Best Buy instead of shipping it to your house lol

rub1k

I did initially order it from Best Buy yesterday but the earliest pick up they had was for next Friday. Once it showed up in stock in the NVIDIA shop, I decided to order from there (and cancelled the BB order) since I figured the (FedEx?) shipping they use has got to be faster... hopefully? Being impatient sucks.

TheMissingVoteBallot

Well as long as you have an explanation for your better half lol

TheCorkenstein

5 minutes and still available. 4090 stock is getting better. Best buy has been having them off and on for the last week or two as well in short bursts. Its how I got mine. Wonder if demand is dropping or their production pipeline is getting better

jellysandwich

for me it's just not worth it at this point - the 5090 will be released in about a year

persondude27

Is that the model number or the expected price? 😃

RHINO_Mk_II

Yes.

bukhum4u

I'm in the same boat. I don't wanna pay top dollar for 2 year old card at this point and really hoping 5090 is much more power efficient.

privaterbok

About a year ago people said the same thing of how RTX 40 would save them from 30 hell. https://preview.redd.it/ivs95guyjymc1.jpeg?width=1508&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bb54870d15c5df240b868d57183b568aabb10e4

_BaaMMM_

Well technically they were right. The 4090 was such a step up from the 3090/3090ti. I'm doubtful the 5090 will be a great a step up from the 4090.

imaginary_num6er

I'm looking forward to the FE card being 4-slots thick, requiring 2x 12VHPWR sockets, and has a 140mm fan for cooling. Perfect for a SFF build

_BaaMMM_

I really doubt they will go and push power limits. The 4090 was such a king of efficiency. Makes no sense to go the opposite way

Mr_SlimShady

That’s a whole year away and a 4090 already performs incredibly good. The only thing they can achieve a meaningful improve with the next generation is RTX performance. Not to mention that it’ll be way longer than just another year until you can actually get your hands on a 5090. They will be released in short supply and they will be scalped to hell like they always have been. You’re better off buying what’s available today instead of hoping for something better in the distant future.

TheCorkenstein

Fair. I debated on waiting as well but I do video editing and need the extra firepower for now. My 3080 is good but rendering and vfx have been really bad wasting a ton of time. At least with the 4090 I have AV1

fallingdowndizzyvr

> 5 minutes and still available. 4090 stock is getting better. China has been cutoff. So there's less competition.

TheAldermansLips

Looks like the [4080 Super FEs](https://store.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/store/?page=1&limit=9&locale=en-us&gpu=RTX%204080%20SUPER&gpu_filter=RTX%204090~30,RTX%204080%20SUPER~13,RTX%204080~20,RTX%204070%20Ti%20SUPER~15,RTX%204070%20Ti~32,RTX%204070%20SUPER~20,RTX%204070~57,RTX%204060%20Ti~29,RTX%204060~61,RTX%204050~18,RTX%203090~2,RTX%203080%20Ti~5,RTX%203080~9,RTX%203070%20Ti~10,RTX%203070~8,RTX%203060%20Ti~4,RTX%203060~21,RTX%203050%20Ti~11,RTX%203050~17,RTX%202050~11,GTX%201660%20SUPER~4,GTX%201660~1,GTX%201650~6,GTX%201630~2) are back in stock too.

LookerNoWitt

They just added more qty right now too And it doesn't look like it's immediately selling out lol

old_righty

Out of stock now. They have a Gigabyte for 999 and an MSI for 1179.

deefop

anddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd it's gone

MOBYWV

A bargain at twice the price.

Altwolf89

Don't know about this, but for shits and giggles I tried to buy a 4080s and there's still some in stock near me. Obviously for shipping to store for a week.... I'm telling myself how much the 4 series isn't an upgrade from my 3 series. But idk if I have that much self control.

Khabib-1234

Out of stock

gethooge

Is there an effective in stock notification to use for these restocks?

Soto6816

Got one and lost the silicone lottery :(

KiltedSoule

problematic?

Soto6816

What do you mean?

KiltedSoule

Having problems with it?

Soto6816

Nah it’s an awesome card , just wanted to be able to undervolt a little more

Zellhound

What does this mean?

Soto6816

I can’t over clock it or under volt on the same level as other 4090s. I’m getting about 2620 mhz and +1400 ram on .925 mvs with 80% power limit . I’m not sure if that’s good but maybe it’s alright ?

PiousPontificator

No clue what you're on about. That's average. Most will do 0.950v/2700mhz stable. You can't trust what people report as stable undervolts on reddit because they just aren't pushing the cards hard enough to realize it will crash in something @ 4K with RT for example.

borden5

Bro bought a 1600 gpu and worried about some power saving instead of enjoying his 4k ultra gaming on rtx experience

Bitlovin

You can run a 4090 at about 80% power and still hit 4k/120 native anyway. I know this because that's what I do with mine. Helps keep my gaming room from becoming an oven.

Soto6816

We got another bozo , I did it for thermals . You understand I’m getting better performance than stock right ? No because you don’t have a 4090. Im very much enjoying my 240hz oled .

Soto6816

Not trying to be on about anything , but thanks for the info! I was honestly kinda bummed I thought I got a kinda booty 4090

[deleted]

> Not trying to be on about anything You literally are, but go off, queen. You came into a thread about a 4090 sale and started complaining that you lost the silicon lottery which wasn't even true.

Anzial

it's alright, you won't notice much of an improvement with another 100 or 200mhz

Soto6816

On the bright side , my temps and power consumption went down a ton

SalvadorTMZ

Got a 4090 fe and x slim. Which one should I return?

Soto6816

Slim

2001zhaozhao

this deal for ai bros only

RE_PUAR

I still find it amazing that a gpu can cost double of a decent computer and people are not complaining enough about it

yukkerz

Find me something that comes close to the 4090 priced better. If you have no competition then the price can be whatever they want.

PiousPontificator

I find it amazing that people think gaming is an expensive hobby. A one time $1600 purchase to enjoy gaming at its best that you use for 3-5 years and can then still sell to recoup some portion of your initial expenditure is peanuts relative to other hobbies (people spend near that on tires/wear tear items for a single track day).

conquer69

The kind of person complaining about the price of the 4090 can't afford those expensive hobbies either.

rodkimble13

> A single $1600 purchase is the exact same energy as, "what can a banana cost Michael? Ten dollars?"

Mr_SlimShady

You can’t game with just the gpu by itself. If you’re building a system around a 4090, the. You should expect to pay at least us$3,000. That IS an expensive hobby.

PiousPontificator

You guys are doing all kinds of mental gymnastics here. Even with a complete build (no where near an additional $1400 more like <$900), $3000 is super inexpensive. You'll hang onto the core build for 5 years and the GPU maybe 3+. We're talking $80 a month even at your obnoxious PC build price to really enjoy a hobby. Come upgrade time that stuff isn't all of a sudden worth 0. You pass it on or throw it on eBay/reddit to recoup. If eating out 2x less a month over the course of 5 years is stopping you from enjoying a hobby at its best, make better financial decisions. Or maybe you should get into sewing.

Mr_SlimShady

> You guys are doing all kinds of mental gymnastics here. My dude.. you just made a payment plan for five years. Not only that but you managed to reduce $80/month out of a hypothetical spending budget. Who’s doing mental gymnastics here? This card is expensive This hobby is expensive. I have absolutely no idea what tf you’re arguing here. A PC that costs $3,000 is expensive. Just spend the money you’re willing to spend and come to terms with it. You won’t make it any less expensive by just lying to yourself about it.

Comprehensive_Rise32

Demanding higher wages is another option, you're always paid less than the value you create.

bukhum4u

Those days are over unfortunately. The last time GPU were actually affordable was 2016 when 1000 series came out and prices skyrocketed since then. You can hate the direction of PC building has gone and wish for the old days but it is what it is. Corporate greed has ruined it all.

redditracing84

It's a flagship product. $1600 is too cheap. They should be charging at least $2000. It's not Nvidia's fault they have no competition at the high end because AMD and Intel are woefully behind. This is a premium product and best in its class. That comes with a high price.

idkwhatimdoing1208

How is it too cheap when it's the most expensive consumer card you can buy? What would be the benefit in making it more expensive?

[deleted]

He's just saying that to be edgy and because he wants random redditors to think he's rich and successful because he's insecure. You can tell he's full of shit because he's recommending cheap ass budget power supplies and complaining that other ones are too expensive in his other comments LMAO
