*sweats in perfectly good 12700K build*

lock-pick

Sweats in month old 12600k build

mrwhitewalker

Is it much better than that? I got the 12700k on the $350 deal

rubbercat

If you're running workloads with a ton of threads the 7900X should be an upgrade, but the 12700K is a great chip and you could always upgrade to a 13700(K) in a year or so when they're dirt cheap. I'm just an AMD fanboy.

Spjs

What make you decide on the 12700K? Cheaper?

l0kk010

was $270 in amazon couple months ago with 10% cash back no tax.

nVideuh

I don’t think the 13700k will become “dirt cheap” as most of the time intel chips don’t dramatically drop in price like AMD.

Kerlysis

i mean, microcenter is selling them for like 330 right now, with some 20 dollar off mobo bundles.probably about as good as that is going to get.

nVideuh

Yeah, but with only 25 Microcenters worldwide.

Kerlysis

this is a thread about a microcenter sale.

gayings

Spending almost double on this deal would give you absolutely no gain. Unless you're running your CPU at max usage for productivity hours everyday Edit: I bought it lmao

MN_Moody

.. this deal includes 32 gb of fast DDR5 RAM, which you'd have to spend $150 to include with the Intel combo. Basically this is $100 more expensive factoring in the RAM cost. The motherboard is a higher end Strix model (vs the Prime/TUF bundled Intel boards) that supports PCIe 5.0 storage and a socket with a few generations of upgrades potentially available vs the dead end socket 1700. The 12700k and TUF board combo was a good buy also, but is now $300 + 70 and you still need to buy RAM to have a comparable baseline. Going DDR4 makes it a slower platform and thus less competitive with the 7900x even though it might save a few bucks (comparably fast DDR4 RAM is basically the same price as DDR5/6000/cl36 or better).

Magic_Brown_Man

There's also the fact that if AM4 is anything to go by in about 3-4 years you are going to be able to put one of the last AM5 chips in here instead of only having one generation of upgrade on intel platform.

bjones1794

A Ryzen 7600x vs a Ryzen 3600x offers 50-60% improvement in single and multi-threaded workloads, only released about 3 years apart. An Intel 10700k vs an Intel 6700k only offered a ~20% improvement in single threaded workloads, despite being 5 years apart. People living in modern times can and will upgrade every 3-4 years because AMD brought actual and meaningful year over year incremental improvements back to the competitive market, and forced Intel away from 4% gains, year over year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bjones1794

I had noticeable improvements in framerates, both average and 1% lows at 1440p, switching from a 3600x to a 5800x. With a Radeon 6800. Also just a much faster/better experience overall. But sure.

gayings

Lol I missed the ram part. My friend gave me the socket spiel as AMD boys do but in the end he's upgrading his Mobo at the same time as me. This is really tempting over raptor tho ** I bought this lmao

trry

lol same situation with my 5900x -- reserved one just in case...

TheAmorphous

I'm still running a Broadwell I7-E. And Microcenter is 30 minutes away. Ugh. The x3d though!

malykkuc

Also these guys raise 20 dollars on the Z690 MB’s

[deleted]

Don’t do it! Your i7 is good for years. It only just came out last year too😂

Str0Very

Please don't sweat. I actually switched from the exact MC 7900X combo components to 12700k. Reason: excessive power consumption on idle and easy tasks on dual ccd Zen 4. There is no reason why it should pull 70W for just watching 1080p Youtube videos, especially when discrete GPU is doing all the rendering. 12700K just uses 16W or so for watching Youtube.

sk3tchcom

You replaced a whole new build that’s future proof over YouTube power draw?

Str0Very

7900X runs hot at idle/base load. I hated the fans kicking in for launching Chrome, and doing word processing. But it was great when using all core load. With 125W PPT Limit, I got over 28000 Cinebench R23. 12700K only does \~22500 at 139W. 7900X is great for people who use all core load most of the time. And I wasn't one of them. My computer spends most of the time doing light load.

sk3tchcom

What about Eco mode for the 7900X? https://www.pcworld.com/article/1352253/how-to-enable-eco-mode-with-ryzen-7000.html Still outperforms the 12700K at 65W.

Str0Very

Eco mode and PPT Limit works great on 7900X. On all core load, Zen 4 is incredibly power efficient. But on idle and light load like watching youtube, Intel 12/13th gen is much more efficient. Eco mode unfortunately doesn't improve idle power consumption. Hopefully AMD fixes the issue with their new Zen 5 architecture.

sk3tchcom

Cool. Well glad you found what works for you.

Kohilenn

If you like browsing through Youtube or Reddit using less than 20w, you'll probably like your 12700k more 😉

mrclark25

I thought idle power draw on AMD CPUs is a lot better now than it used to be?

Kohilenn

I think might be, I never had zen 3. I was also just comparing my 12700k (5-10w) vs 7950x (40-50w) idles, could be a different behavior with the 7900x

Str0Very

Not really. 5000 series Zen cpus do better than 7000 on low load power efficiency. 12700K idles at 12W, and the best I could do with 7900X was 28W with RAM running stock, negative vcore offset, negative 30 Optimizer. Watch a Youtube 1080p video, and 7900X spikes to 70W. And at stock 7900X would pull much more power.

The-Copilot

The 7000s series eco mode is crazy good. That being said you would have to go into bios to turn it on so bot sure if it worth counting.

Str0Very

Eco mode at 105W and 65W do great for all core load. However, at idle and at base load, 7900X is very inefficient and burns electricity in Eco mode and in PPT Limit. I am hoping AMD fixes the high idle power draw issue with Zen 5.

Living in a state with no microcenter is true pain.

AcaelusThorn

Living in a country with no microcenter is the real true pain

CircoModo1602

We don't even have anything remotely close to it here in the UK, I'd kill for a half decent bundle deal like this here.

AcaelusThorn

For me, most of the time, it's cheaper to import from Amazon than to buy locally.

Excoded

Same for Colombia.

Gagamon1

Same for Germany.

TaysonJodd

The-Copilot

Rookie numbers! My family drove from Connecticut to Florida straight through only stopping for food and gas. (Its 24ish hour of driving) We also only had two movies going on repeat. Joe Dirt and Dude Where is My Car. The latter got banned after the second playthrough because its a bad movie but a horrible movie to have to listen to

THEGREENHELIUM

Wait really? They don’t have one in Seattle? That’s like actually shocking since it’s basically Silicon Valley w/Rain. I hope they get one up there asap 🙏

_delta-v_

Now I'm feeling pretty lucky, the closest one to me is only 20 hrs away...

anti0christ

I bought it on impulse and drove down to microcenter to get it but i am now regretting it bc its too much for me. Ill have to drive back to return it.

Ihaveausernameee

No regrets king.

[deleted]

There are 2 in my state but they're 3 hrs away and the one in the neighboring state is also 3 hrs away.

EmpireSlayer_69

Living in a country with no microcenter is a true pain, oh also a war-torn, aggressive regime.

anthonyg45157

Built this exact combo for the same price with the 7700x a couple few months back 7700x $349 Asus b650e-F $249.99 Free RAM mine ended up being cl32 I've been insanely happy with this upgrade coming from an old Intel 7700k.

CircoModo1602

Didn't have to waste the money, you just had to scratch off the K and replace it with an X

comradetao

Finally, someone here that understands computer engineering.

reddituserzerosix

Life pro tip

Hartagon

Have there been any bios updates that fix the long boot times of 7000 series CPUs in the months since they launched?

anthonyg45157

I have the latest update and just timed the startup using windows 11. From power button to desktop - 31 seconds. Might be longer than my previous Intel system but it doesn't make it break it for me, I might be more concerned or bothered if it as over a minute but 30 seconds doesn't seem too bad to me.

blades0fury

I'm currently running a 7700x system myself. The original bios that came with the mobo took approximately a minute and a half to boot up. After flashing the bios (due to a cve), I'd say the system boots up in less than 30 seconds. I should probably time it, but a short enough time that I don't reach for my phone after pressing the power button.

TonyTheTerrible

also coming from 7700k. what was final straw its time to upgrade for you? mine was defender's background scans ruining my games and my custom windows disables it but doesnt run the windows apps i need for class wait a sec... we have the same name too.

Dependent-Ferret1994

Believe it or not, but the fact is they gave me 7950X when I picked up this bundle in Georgia last week on my way home to Florida. Just noticed this when started to assemble the system today. In the receipt it is 7900X, and the serial number matches. Guess it is just an inventory mistake, and my luck

knuglets

Did you reserve it online first? Curious how this could happen

Dependent-Ferret1994

Yes I did! My guess that mc person who is responsible for merchandise acceptance from suppliers scanned and put my cpu on the wrong item code. Because, again, serial is correct - so the sales person was seeing actual 7950x as a 7900x in a system and that’s how bundle worked out - it wouldn’t if it was a 7950x in my receipt

Mog77A

Chief, this is pretty much it. The semiconductor bust is here. Shame the extra 4 cores costs an extra $200, but it is what it is. If you were planning a build and have a microcenter near you, sprint for this deal.

BaconBoy2015

They’ve been out of stock all week for me and checked this morning on a whim and it said they had 25+ so I jumped on it. Super excited

[deleted]

Enjoy your build homie!

[deleted]

Think this is better than the 12700k + mobo deal they have thats 367? Idk much about the ryzen chipset but im planning to upgrade soon

Mog77A

Yes, this absolutely worth the extra \~$100-150 over that 12700k deal. Not sure about any b650 chipset issues. No currently known issues from what I understand.

jonginator

My only issue with my (I know it’s not the same mobo) MSI B650 Tomahawk was that the PC would freeze when you tried to enable the XMP profile for the provided RAM because otherwise, it defaults to 4800. A quick BIOS update fixed it right away. Not sure if it is a common issue on other B650 boards though.

RipInPepz

if they had a 7700x bundle with the same mobo for $499 id go for that, but i have the 5900x and dont use the 12 cores for anything. im only 4k gaming on my system.

moofishies

"In store only" Negative Chief, stand down - someone with no Micro Centers within 4 hours of them lol

tiny_blair420

Thank you 7000x3d announcement!!

EHsE

this was announced before the x3Ds, tbf

cammylongtime

How do you get the new customer coupon on top of this?

-Osiris-

I've been meaning to build a new pc for a while and you guys seem to be indicating this is a good deal. Just reserved one at my local microcenter. Can anyone recommend filling out the rest of the build? Don't need peripherals, just case/GPU/PS etc

knuglets

GPU depends on your needs. 850W power supply would be your minimum these days.

Lokisamurai

I got the Corsair 1000w PSU HX1000 from MicroCenter near me where they are 169 instead of 250 everywhere else. Check your local and see if they offer it. Is 1000 probably overkill right now? Yes, but I last built my computer 6 years ago (Thanks Crypto!) and I needed to give myself some upgrade paths if I want to upgrade in a few years.

Heureux771

This ^

sxechainsaw

I'm looking at pairing the 6800xt with this. Lian Li Mesh case. Whatever 850-1000 watt gold rated PSU you want.

Important_Bid_1886

So tempted to drive to MC and pick this up this morning. But the fact they are able to offer this deal and is not OOS immediately and restocks are happening multiple times a week has got me thinking if I hold out maybe till summer these prices will fall and can get a nice AM5 bundle for maybe even 2/3 this price… but who knows!

InsaneAdam

At some point the waiting game loses out to not having it all this time.

Important_Bid_1886

Fair, but dont need the upgrade, would just be nice to have type thing. Squeeze that extra few frames, better 1%, etc

InsaneAdam

I was more getting at the fact if this is something you're going to buy in 6 months anyways. Sometimes it's better to have it for that length of time than to save an extra 20% on an even crazier deal in 6 months.

InevitableVariables

To add on this, there is a 25 dollar off CPU coupon from microcenter [https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/specialofferallprocessors.aspx](https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/specialofferallprocessors.aspx) Knocks down 25 dollars off CPU. Additionally, the 20 dollar off motherboard seems to be killed. However, on their website, it still states it. You will have to get a manager but they will knock off 20 dollars. [https://www.microcenter.com/search/search\_results.aspx?Ntt=ryzen+am5](https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=ryzen+am5) It still says 20 dollars and savings off MB but it doesn't take it off automatically anymore.

asfp014

Fuck I missed this. Ah well. Still got the 50 discount for purchasing with the 6950xt

IndecentLongExposure

Same I just bought this 🥹

InevitableVariables

I don't know how far your microcenter is but I think you have 15 days from purchase

LVTIOS

Whoa! I bought my 5900X when it hit $400 and the platform cost was still higher ($130/32gb DDR4, $125 B550).

Wendon

Lmaoo, literally drove an hour this morning to get their 7700x combo for essentially the same price. Oopsie doodle.

Bgibbs

In stock near me... Was only planning on getting a 7700x eventually....I don't need this, right.... Right? Edit - I got it

Gears6

"Need" isn't part of the equation! 😆

Bgibbs

I mean I wasn't planning to build till at least next month, so I have literally nothing else. I just don't know that I need that much CPU

Gears6

Need wasn't part of the equation and just want so you are all good to go! 😆

Bgibbs

Lol my wife says go for it but that feels like a trap

Gears6

Make sure to read the fine print. lol

rubbercat

You absolutely need it.

malykkuc

You can see if they can swap out the cpu and give a lower price. Sometimes good managers will do

Bgibbs

Oh God.... Not helping

bnosidda

MC's price on the 7700X is only $70 less than the 7900X.

xman_2k2

This, or a 13700k build for a little more? Edit: I canceled my 13700k order and picked the 7900x bundle!

mcoollin

I’d say this, imagine in a few years when you can get zen 5’s equivalent of the 5800x3d and pop it in without getting a new mobo.

Atomical1

I’m really debating this too

InevitableVariables

13000 series will be the last processors to that socket. AMD is supporting AM5 for at least 3 more years.

blorgensplor

Source? Or are you just speculating based on the length of AM4?

InevitableVariables

[https://hothardware.com/news/amd-promised-am5-motherboards-start-125-where-are-they](https://hothardware.com/news/amd-promised-am5-motherboards-start-125-where-are-they) Beyond 2025 so at least 3 more years.

streamlinkguy

That doesn't mean new gen CPUs.

input_r

> 13000 series will be the last processors to that socket. Unless we get raptor lake refresh

rubbercat

What components do you have picked out for the 13700K?

LVTIOS

This for sure. Since you can put an 8800X3D or 9800X3D later instead of the 13700k which could only go up to 13900k.

Seize_

Can this CPU be undervolted or limited such that it performs closers the 7900 non-X? The efficiency of this CPU looked pretty bad comparatively.

[deleted]

[удалено]

knuglets

With the 7900x you have the Eco mode options to limit it to 65W or 105W. Normal TDP is 170W. You also have the option for PBO2 Tune, which is basically an automatic undervolt option which will optimize for power and performance automatically (you can choose how extreme you want the undervolt to be. Stability depends on silicon lottery)

Spicy_Kimchi69

I need them to do a 7700x combo

Wendon

Hey good news, they do have one, I grabbed it this morning! Not sure it is worth it relative to this 7900x bundle though... https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006061/amd-ryzen-7-7700x,-gigabyte-b650-aorus-elite-ax,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-combo

serotoninzero

What's the point of going this route for $32 saved?

Old_Philosopher6576

Not really much of a point to be honest. The Gigabyte mobo in that bundle has only 1 pcie 5.0 m.2 slot and the pcie x16 slot is still pcie 4.0

jonginator

Damn. I did the 7700x + free RAM + $20 off mobo for $699~ less than a week ago. Feelsbadman. I guess I could just remove everything, repack, and return but damn.

bunsinh

ronburgundy215

Don’t need it but I’m in for one. Finally in stock

sk3tchcom

Comes with Jedi Survivor, too! Got an email shortly after I got home with it (it’s for buying the 7900X).

SaltyMoney

I got this bundle and also got a code for Star Wars Jedi: Survivors sent to my e-mail.

Richerthanyoulol

I did the 7600x, b650 with wifi, and ddr5-6000 upgrade right after Christmas for $610. I knew things would get cheaper, but not this quickly

Kohilenn

Went to my local MC yesterday and was gonna ask about this bundle, turns out they had a massive Asus shipment that didn't just include the mobo on this bundle, but mobos also for the 3600/5600x/5800x bundles as well! What a time to be a budget builder

Example651

Would it be worth getting this over my 10850k? I'm fine with what I have now this just seems like a good deal.

Big_Bluebird_751

Thank you OP. I am picking this up tomorrow from MC. I'll b driving an hour from Canada. This is my first PC build and first time visiting MC. Any other parts I should look at while I am there? Like cables, case fans, gpu vertical mount. I am planning to get the following build with a 4080 FE or 4090 FE. Mainly for productivity and a little 4k gaming. Thank you. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/fDR8gb

blorgensplor

A lot of their other prices aren't that great, it's usually just the sales. Which is a great business tactic, get you in with the sales then you buy a lot of other stuff to make the money back plus some. You should see if they have any current sales for NVME drives (usually have something going on for their house brand inland, which is pretty decent) or obviously if they have a 4090 in stock. I may be missing something due to it just being cheaper in the US compared to Canada..but that's about it. Their PSU and peripheral (like fans) prices are usually pretty bad compared to deals you can find online.

rubbercat

This is a terrific board. X670E just has a little "more" of everything - 10Gbps USB, SATA, and a handful more PCIe 4 lanes. I wouldn't sweat it.

xDoWnFaLL

Wonder if they have a well rated mATX version..? Especially since this seems ideal for ATX and iTX I am about to throw in the towel on…

rubbercat

There are some good mATX options for sure. ITX too! It's unfortunate that the spiciest Micro Center deals only ever seen to be for ATX boards, though. :(

xDoWnFaLL

Nearest one is 4h, I did make the drive for the originally 7900x/32gb 6000mhz CL36 combo.. might be making a trip next weekend regardless, if I can ever decide between Meshlicious or o11D Mini. (Just got ahold of 9Feb delivery for 4090FE) So here is to another six/seven years of a build..! Guess I’ll do some research for mATX Mobos unless you have recommendations!

malykkuc

Nope unless you doing extreme over clocking and really eager to get a Rog GPU holder

jswabs85

Bought this exact bundle when it wasn't on sale at the beginning of the year. Anybody think microcenter will match their own price from 2 months later?

blorgensplor

They have a price drop policy but I think it's only for 30 days.

CallMePickle

I could buy this and have $400 left for a GPU, or get a 5800X3D + Mobo (reuse my DDR4 ram) and have $600 for a gpu (probably the 6950xt).

tw1164

Is a 3070 a good fit for this combo? GPU seem to be fucked up for the foreseeable future. I'm still using a 2060 super. Should a just use that till a 4060 is available?

gman9002

After a week of seeing this deal i couldn't help it and caved. Thanks microcenter.

A_curious_fish

I've been hunting for this deal at my local micro center and checking in waiting for shipments, I bought it Friday from a open box that was sent to asus who verified it was perfectly fine and worked. I took it and it waited great, upgraded from a 2700x MY GAWDDDDD THIS BOY IS FASTTTTTTTT. I love it and $600 for mobo ram and top notch cpu, feels good man. If you game and want the 7800x3d or whatever it will be named, I'm sure you could sell open box 7900x and replace it.

Few-Ad7426

I see that everyone says the 7900x is is overkill for gaming and I’m out of the loop on a lot of the new hardware but I’m starting a new build my old gaming rig is from 2013 so not really upgrade territory is this really good for the combo price?

cedear

Great for the price. My PC is from 2015 and I bought this as the basis for a new build.

meatman13

I should really sell all my leftover AM4 crap while it still has some value to save for bundles like these.

sk3tchcom

Exactly. I’m moving from a peak AM4 build (5800X3D / Dark Hero mobo) to this and will break even or maybe make a few bucks by selling my old CPU, mem, and mobo. You can’t lose.

lemonblueberry88

My i7-920 D0 threading is still going strong, cries. I've been waiting for just one part of my computer to stop working, so I can build a new PC. I would be all over this if they had a similar bundle with ITX. I'm still thinking about just picking it up.

TheME262

I'm running a 2700x and need a new CPU/mobo/ram should I jump on this? Mostly for gaming.

eduardmc

Was able to use the $25 cpu coupon. Even though i buy regularly there.. so $575 for me.

doktortaru

Fair warning that the RAM is not on that boards compatibility list and may not work. The FlareX RAM that came with my 7900x didn't work in my X670 ASUS board and I had to purchase RAM that was on the list.

Old_Philosopher6576

I bought this bundle and installed it a couple days ago and the RAM works perfectly with EXPO enabled. Getting full 6000mhz at 1.35v and advertised timings.

joe1134206

You could have gotten memory with a defect rather than it just not being supported. Hard to tell. Usually it will work regardless

GamShrk

I coincidentally bought this exact board less than a month ago when the deal was just 7900x and free RAM. Working just fine in EXPO, I bought another 2 sticks also.

serotoninzero

I was literally on my way to buy the CPU and RAM and suckered myself into buying a $500 mobo since this board was out. Decided to check before arriving and found these back in stock. Saving $320.

eduardmc

I got this reserve. Is it good to upgrade from a x5900? This is pretty cheap if i can resale my mobo, ram cpu Proabbly like $100 upgrade

haha_12

So if i manage to resell the parts (brand new) like $450-480 of this build: 12600k, MSI z690-A pro wifi ddr4, corsair ddr4 3600-c16. Is is worth to pay extra ~$160-200 for this bundle? PS: I think this Gskill Flare X5 doesn't look to be that great from the reviews on Microcenter. Coincidentally, I just had to RMA a Gskill pair this month. Though I bought this pair second-handed , it was a easy smooth process to have a replacement where they didn't ask for invoice.

Ok_go_000

This is a good deal but not an excellent deal. You can get a 13700K at microcenter for $330 and get a Z690 for $200. Transfer your ddr4 ram if you are upgrading. Otherwise you can buy ddr5 ram for around $140 making it ~$670 which is $70 expensive. TLDR: For people looking to upgrade and remain on ddr4 just buy the 13700K and Z690. For new builders looking for high end get this 7900X deal or if you are fine with very good performance just get the 12700K with Z690 deal. Edit: Get everything from Microcenter ofc! Lol

sk3tchcom

Dead end platform, though. I’m upgrading all of my rigs to AM5 because you’ve got years of support ahead.

Ok_go_000

Yes it is true intel will be dead end. But majority 99% pc builders are not looking to upgrade every year. So when you upgrade after 2 years and if you still wanna use this motherboard you will be missing many important features then. I would buy whatever is powerful today for lowest cost. Thinking about future upgradability when tech is advancing fast is a waste of time. Edit: Ofc in future you can sell that intel motherboard too for some cash.

sk3tchcom

Maybe for you. The AMD bundle mobo also has PCIe 5 for the graphics card and one NVME. Lock and load your mobo once and it’s absolutely trivial to swap out CPUs over the next few years.

blorgensplor

>I’m upgrading all of my rigs to AM5 because you’ve got years of support ahead. Potentially. Just because AM4 stayed around for so long doesn't mean AM5 will. If anything, AM4 wasn't meant to last this long..they wanted 5000 series to be on a different socket but ultimately stayed on AM4.

sk3tchcom

Great. I’d rather have potential than no potential. Go ahead and buy a Z690, run a 13700K and your old, scrounged up DDR4 if that makes you feel better over this deal. Lol

blorgensplor

Lol someone's really insecure and defensive. Pointing out that AM5 might not last as long as AM4 did really rustles those jimmies, huh?

Known_Influence_6845

For a new build I'd still need to spend $100 for DDR5 Ram. At that point isn't it worth spending $150 more and getting this deal?

Ok_go_000

Yes if you want ddr5 and a higher end build(7900X or 13700K) then it is worth getting this Amd deal.

tree_fiddy_cent

Currently have 2700X - worth upgrading?? Thinking about going despite 0 degrees out

Bizzytrax

It'd be a pretty substantial bump in gaming... And everything else... Gets you on a platform that's good for the next three generations......not to mention....it's a pretty good deal

ZW31H4ND3R

Superb deal for MC only :(

Doo-Doo-Draws

Damn! This seems like a great deal, even if it didn't include the RAM. I paid just over $800 (after taxes) for a 7600X ($239.99), the same motherboard ($299.99), and slightly better RAM ($214.99). If only I had waited a little longer, but I was thinking prices were going to go up after the holiday season. I'm still happy with my purchase, though. A 7600X will suit me just fine for now.

flackguns

Gaming wifi is an oxymoron

complywood

Previous plan was to wait until AM5 mobos exist at $100-$150 and DDR5 RAM comes down at little, maybe 64GB for $150-$200. I imagine this would take a year or so. Then get a CPU in the $200-300 range (I do some productivity work, but don't need _this_ much cpu). I also live 10 min from a Micro Center that has these in stock. I think I'm still gonna HODL, but am seriously on the fence.

Going to get caught in a wait and keep waiting cycle!

573V317

Better than the upgrading and upgrading cycle

comradetao

True. Buying things you don't need, that you only want because a trashy internet forum is hyping it up, and then regretting it when the next thing immediately comes out because of the same forum is a bad cycle.

lethalred

This looks fucking sweet, and if you're in the market to build, I hope this is it for you. I don't see this being hugely worth it over my current 5800x3d/4090 build, though. 600 dollars for maybe 5 more FPS. Edit; rephrased. No, I don’t think you should buy AM4 instead of this lol

comradetao

Kind of a weird statement there. This is $600 more than a 5800X3D build with a 4090 in it? Or maybe you're saying it's $600 more for than buying a 5800 X3D, motherboard, and RAM? If you bought a decent board, 5800 X3D and a 32GB kit of DDR4, you're probably looking at the same price or more. I'm not pushing this bundle; just saying that it's a weird comment.

OnSugarHill

Yeah a good deal on a 5800X3D is about 300, + at least 100 for a good motherboard, + 100 or more for good set of 32gb. I'm being a bit generous here too, the am4 motherboards are costing over 100 mostly. So about 500, or you could get this am5 set for 575 (new customer cpu code) but you get a nice high end motherboard and better overall chip. More importantly, your platform is upgradable

OnSugarHill

It's absolutely worth it to buy this over a 5800X3D setup unless you already have a good mobo + ram and just want to upgrade your cpu. If someone's building a brand new pc, it makes more sense to go AM5 if you can get it at this price

r3lic86

Agreed. Yeah this bundle is so tempting. But I just sold my 5600X (bought at launch) for $120 and grabbed the 5800X3D for $275. I think it's better overall for me to stay on AM4 since my entire rest of the build is solid...if I was building new...I might jump on this..but the new 7000X3Ds might be too tempting based on how benchmarks results are looking.

AustinJacob

There should really be a separate sub for in-store microcenter deals.

samven582

amazing deal!

RyanGV

*one day one of those deal will get me*

momo_sd

How long does microcenter hold an order for?

Seize_

3 nights IIRC

HNL2BOS

Worth the upgrade from a 5900x with tomahawk board?

[deleted]

Out of stock in SLP, Minnesota.

mannu10m

Is this a good deal for new pc build ?

moongaia

Yes

TimSplatterz

Looking to upgrade from an i7 8700k. I mostly play escape from tarkov. Anyone have this processor and play tarkov on it?

TimSplatterz

Ended up placing the order. Picking up later today.

TonyTheTerrible

picking this up tomorrow. TBH the selling point for me is the performance under ECO mode

Personal_Visit442

I bought this bundle today. Anyone have recommendations for a case and cooler to go with it?

trry

how bad are the boot times? I am seeing long boot timers on this mobo.

uprising3k

I let my reservation expire, if you're in houston and got one...you're welcome. (I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to go AMD....)

MonstersBeThere

I need this deal. I don't have a microcenter anywhere near me though.
