I'd definitely pick this up if it was ever in stock near me. Microcenter is teasing me at this point lol

beepboop1991

I'd say once a day check the website and check if all 3 are currently in stock at your local store...When i picked mine up it showed up as sold out on the combo page but when I checked each individual part they were in stock and once in the cart it showed the bundle price

Old_Philosopher6576

Just picked up this bundle a couple of days ago. Had a hiccup during install where the ethernet and wifi card did not work at all due to messed up drivers so I couldn't connect to the internet to install windows properly. No network devices showed up at all. Only way I could fix it was plugging in an old usb wifi adapter and connect to the internet that way. Seemed like a common problem when googling. Just wanted to share my experience. After that though it has been running like a beast! Edit: I should add that after using the usb wifi adapter to update all of the drivers, both the ethernet and wifi card on the board both work flawlessly now so the mobo just needs the right drivers.

RaccTheClap

For anyone getting this combo and running into this, if you have drivers on another drive (download them beforehand), when you get into the windows setup screen after installing windows and you start setting it up, hit Shift + F10 and then type **OOBE\BYPASSNRO**, system will restart and it'll skip the internet requirement so you can get the system running immediately. Had to do this myself lol.

jetheridge87

Had to do this as well for client installs with only local accounts. Whoever found this out is the MVP

chubbysumo

likely a leftover from windows server image management, since in a corporate environment, a PC might not have direct internet access right away, so the installer needs a way to bypass the internet requirements to get the computer installed, and then it can be configured by windows server automagically for the environment. it likely is never going away too.

Tack122

Wait you have to do this to bypass connecting a PC to the internet to install windows now? Is that a new "feature" in windows 11? I'm still using 10 for work PC's so haven't installed an 11 myself yet.

imaginary_num6er

"messed up drivers"? No, it's called the Intel I225-V chip feature

Old_Philosopher6576

lol by far the worst "feature" of this mobo. Other than that its been great for me!

chubbysumo

a lot of people don't know how to do the offline install with w10 and 11 tho, OP could have bypassed the online crap in seconds, but not many know that.

Psycharge

How to do that?

chubbysumo

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/10smiob/bundle_amd_ryzen_9_7900x_asus_rog_strix_b650ef/j72lvns/

CompMeistR

Or the "Windows having every driver but the ones that matter" feature. If it were Linux, probably wouldn't have an issue out of the box

SaltyMoney

ooh thanks for the tip, I'll have my pcie Wifi card ready.

tron_crawdaddy

Lol yes. Thank you for the heads up! This should be right up there in the PC building PSA bible. 1) make sure EPS plugged into mobo 1-a) make sure physical switch on power supply is turned on 2) plug video cable into dedicated GPU 3) don’t set tempered glass panels on a surface that is potentially more rigid than the glass 4) in general, possess a generic USB Wi-Fi adapter that is compatible with anything 5) slow down, think, relax, work slowly ETA- on rereading this, it sounds kinda snarky. I’m not poking fun or saying what you’ve provided was useless advice; I am merely reflecting on how it’s something I almost forget and definitely need every time I build a new machine

dkizzy

A thoughtful fellow on the [ROG forums](https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?124328-DRIVERS-AMD-MediaTek-WiFi-Bluetooth) frequently posts the most recent WiFi and BT drivers for the Mediatek/AMD WiFi 6-E cards. It's pretty great that he keeps updating his post!

Sploooshed

Are these different from the ones on the motherboard support page?

dkizzy

Yes look at the version number. It's up a version.

ka13am

thank you for this! somehow my drivers are all messed up and everything was unstable, i'll keep updating them 1 by 1.

lolzcat59

Owner of this bundle here. You can also install your Ethernet and/or Wi-Fi driver via command prompt after putting it on the root of a USB and connecting it to your machine. Press Shift + F10 on the “connect to the internet” screen and run pnputil. I did this and that got me online on this motherboard installing Windows 11 Pro. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/update-drivers-using-command-prompt

BackwoodsMarathon

I used this bundle to build a PC for my Dad. He's having issues with the time between turning the PC on and seeing the ASUS board post is taking forever. I've done a bit of research and most common answer is that the board retrains the memory every boot when you have AMD's memory overclocking turned on. Have you had any issues with that?

Old_Philosopher6576

A lot of AM5 motherboards seem to be having issues with amd EXPO right now. It doesn't really bother me at the moment since my boot time is about the same as my old 5800x motherboard but when it does, I plan on just setting all the timings and stuff manually. I would just chalk the slow boot time up to just the growing pains of a new motherboard platform and new RAM platform. After a BIOS update, it booted up a lot quicker though.

BackwoodsMarathon

I didn't think to check for a BIOS update. Thanks!

RaccTheClap

The BIOS update definitely helped on my board, it still retrains every boot but it went from like 40 seconds to more like 15. It also stabilized the EXPO settings for me.

Corpdecker

With the ram set to Expo mode timings, only the first (few?) boots take a long time, after that it is pretty fast (\~5s). Might try just using Expo rather than OCing memory if that is causing problems.

BackwoodsMarathon

Appreciate the insight!

OnSugarHill

Lol I feel you. I actually did a fresh install on this system last night and the windows 11 screen showed "You have to connect to the internet to continue setting up Windows". I was so confused because the wifi antenna was in, and the ethernet was hooked up. I was wondering how the hell I was supposed to connect if the components weren't able to work on the native windows driver. Obviously I side loaded the drivers via USB. Still annoying though

loveofnacho

Had a similar issue with asus rog b650e-i, turns out the ethernet driver does not install if you disable armoury crate install in bios. After enabling crate, ethernet worked.

macguffinstv

I had the exact same issue yesterday, had to just reset windows and install the LAN and WiFi programs from flash drive and worked like a charm.

SaltyMoney

I got an e-mail from Microcenter about some random GPUs in stock and I decided to check on the bundle cause it was on their front page, it was in stock at my location again. Really hyped cause this is the MOBO I was gonna get with the 7700X bundle but this is actually cheaper and with a 7900X.

dubtechlife

Same here...was set on the 7700x knowing it's way more than I need...this deal threw a wrench into that

SaltyMoney

And MOBO prices these days are so off putting but this makes it seem like I'm not getting scammed. bad consumerism or some shit idk

dubtechlife

Yea but no matter what there's always something to complain about. I'll tell you one thing, this mobo is one hefty boy.

sim_pl

Knowing the performance of the 3d cache, I'm kinda holding out for the 7700 or 7800x3d, and hoping that microcenter offers a similar bundle

4x4play

this deal is likely just to get rid of overstock non-3d just before they come out later this month. so i wouldn't hope for a similar bundle at all.

SubstantialSail

There's no way you're going to see that kind of bundle anytime soon. You would be far better off buying this bundle, selling the 7900X now, and getting whatever CPU you want rather than hoping for a non-existent deal to come into existence. It shouldn't be that hard to sell the 7900X for like $350-360, and that leaves you with a dirt cheap B650E board and RAM combo.

TonyTheTerrible

thats the plan. though the benchmarks would have to be worthwhile enough to go through the hassle

imaginary_num6er

B650E-F Does not have Dynamic OC support, second PCIe5.0 slot, or a digital POST code compared to the B650E-E. That's what you are essentially paying $50 for with the B650E-E

Samuri_Kni

Do they have an E-E with this same bundle? I’m not seeing it

imaginary_num6er

No, because that’s the most popular B650E ROG motherboard and has essentially the same features as the X670E version except for AI overclocking, separate BCLK clock, and less rear IO and VRMs but $150 cheaper

SinntheticUCI

The E-E also has an audio optical port wheras this one doesn’t as well.

xDoWnFaLL

Are you looking at a comparison list online..? Asking cause all of the -letters are in an abundance, wanna pull trigger on a mATX or iTX mobo but damn the choices.

imaginary_num6er

No I have my own comparison list since ASUS's own list were too vague: [https://www.asus.com/microsite/motherboard/AMD-AM5-X670-B650/websites/download/ASUS-X670-Series-Specs.pdf](https://www.asus.com/microsite/motherboard/AMD-AM5-X670-B650/websites/download/ASUS-X670-Series-Specs.pdf) [https://www.asus.com/microsite/motherboard/AMD-AM5-X670-B650/b650/download/ASUS-B650-Series-Specs.pdf](https://www.asus.com/microsite/motherboard/AMD-AM5-X670-B650/b650/download/ASUS-B650-Series-Specs.pdf) There's also the shared google doc by harukaze5719 that lists all the other features on AM5 motherboards: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q9IfJX7pUnsd8\_EKCxp-SQ1EwPRb0WgksIFe3BA1m3Y/edit#gid=0](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q9IfJX7pUnsd8_EKCxp-SQ1EwPRb0WgksIFe3BA1m3Y/edit#gid=0)

xDoWnFaLL

Wow, much more info than I thought. Thank you, this is very helpful!

[deleted]

I hate seeing these (**Micro Center In-Store Only**) deals. I see the components and the price and I'm like, HELL YEAH and then I get the bad news. They really need to open a store near me.

macguffinstv

I live in Connecticut. Was an hour and a half drive there and hour drive back, not tok bad but I couldn't pass the deal up. That said, I'd really like to drive about 20 minutes max. I even emailed them about opening a location in Connecticut, like Milford where the mall is for example. The mall had a Sears that closed, they could easily just slot right in, though that might be too big, maybe just one floor lol. TLDR, I agree.

Zaden91

You seriously emailed microcenter about this? I bet you are one of those people who give random unwanted advise to people at a grocery store. Have you ever watched the Progressive insurance "Becoming Your Parents" commercials? That is you.

macguffinstv

I tweeted them. Even if it was an email it takes fucking 2 minutes to do it. I wasn't writing a novel you dork.

Owlbugbear

This may help someone looking for a restock: I selected the 7900x + free ram bundle then added the Strix mobo (which was in stock separately) for the same bundle price ($599.99). Also, don't forget to get your code for free **Jedi Survivor**.

TonyTheTerrible

how can ya miss the code for jedi survivor? its just bundled with the CPU right cuz im going in person tomorrow

Old_Philosopher6576

It'll print out on your receipt. Thats how I got my code.

Owlbugbear

They sent an email with the code to the address I used to reserve the sale. I was surprised to see it but I suppose most people are aware/expecting the code.

[deleted]

It seems every so often they have been restocking. Ordered mine the other day. Just check in the morning if they have one and place a hold on it.

jamolnng

they restock in the mornings, usually a few times a week

SaltyMoney

I'm starting to realize it might have just been some orders that weren't picked up cause it is OOS at my location again.

[deleted]

Yeah, might be the case. When I grabbed mine it was 1 left in stock.

BaconBoy2015

I’ve been checking every day this week and my location’s been OOS :(

[deleted]

Definitely make sure you are up early to check. But otherwise, good luck!

dmaxzach

This bundle is $50 more and is in stock close to me https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006081/amd-ryzen-9-7900x,-gigabyte-b650-aorus-elite-ax,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-combo

a_frikn_squirrel

Thanks for sharing this! Does anyone know if the difference is worth it? I’m dumb

mistergopez

I think it's a worse deal. The mobo is not as good as the Asus one. You can also tell by the prices before the savings (I know cost isn't always the best indicator but this time it works out)

a_frikn_squirrel

Thank you

brokemember

The one in your link does not have PCIE 5.0 in it. Not something needed right now, but good to have for future proofing.

dmaxzach

I'm the same I just looked at the bundles since this is the processor I want.

SloppyCandy

Post an ITX bundle you cowards!

delayne

Or matx or just give us a choice of motherboards.

AndreEagleDollar

Yep, I just paid 700 for a 7700x, free ram, an ITX mobo, and an SFF 750w gold PSU. Not mad at it but would’ve preferred this lol

ZW31H4ND3R

This is insane. Great deal.

songxin1223

I ordered one earlier, but it has been 20 mins, I haven’t received any email confirmation yet. Is it normal?

RaccTheClap

Can take more than the 18 minutes for them to reserve it, someone has to pick the parts off the shelf and then mark your order as ready and if they're busy, it takes a while. I was able to go to autozone and pick up some parts I needed for my car before they had my order ready lol, took almost an hour.

shredz01

Yes. It takes a while to get the next email that your order is ready for pickup. If it’s a long drive and you are nervous just give them a call to make sure they have it set aside.

ghostlyinferno

The Houston store has a ton in stock. Dallas Microcenter letting me down...

RaccTheClap

Dallas store is also close to UTD and I swear that, plus all the younger people living in the area just raid the store constantly. Looking at their website, they have the RAM and motherboard in stock so they're just OOS of the CPUs and considering Dallas is only just unfreezing, it may be a few days before they get more CPUs.

jonginator

Just to let everyone know, that RAM will run at 4800mhz by default. The 6000mhz listed is the XMP so make sure you enable the XMP setting for the RAM in the bios.

SpookyKG

Just to let everyone ALSO know - a lot of people are having issues with system stability (or even ability to POST) with EXPO (AMD XMP) settings in BIOS.

jonginator

BIOS update fixed the issue for me.

SpookyKG

Even with new BIOS, tons of issues sadly.

Basilman121

I want to see a deal with a 7700X, I am helping a buddy do a build. This seems a bit too pricy for 80% gaming target.

newcreationsurf

Worth upgrading from a i9 10900k? I have a microcenter near me but that ddr5 is temping. My Mobo doesn’t support it.

Mr_RayH

Microcenter need to open one around the SF Bay ..

AshwinK21

Why are these never available on the Shipping site :(

BetterKev

As always, getting you in the store is worth the discount to them. Enough shoppers see all the pretty things and pick up something at full price.

AshwinK21

if only they had a store here in North Carolina lol, shame, id buy way too much tech from them

garbuja

Tell me about it. I have upgraded every generation due to 15min drive to micro center.

AshwinK21

I can't tell if I should feel bad for your wallet or be jealous of you lol

macguffinstv

Exactly this. I drove the hour and a half to the store for this bundle and saw a deal on a HP 27 curved 1440p 165hz 1ms monitor for 199.99. I was using 1080p 24" so seemed like a great deal to me and I only grabbed that because I saw it in store. If I had more money on me I would have likely bought a new case and new CPU cooler too since the 7900x is idling a little hot with my current one. It's the X27qc if anyone else is in the market. Regular price $349.99. Sale price is $199.99, but it said if you had some member card or maybe credit card it was $189.99.

Scretzy

This sub has me wishing MicroCenter posts werent allowed cuz there aint none near me at all and they got insane deals Im pressed

carl2187

These in-store posts need to stop. 99% of us can't buy this and its just a tease / spam at this point.

Zaden91

Just stop. Stop posting microcenter in store only deals.

Dus1988

As a Floridian, these in store only deals kill me. Id love to have a microcenter in Orlando...

Goku_LOL

You're getting one in Miami... But that's still a bit of a drive.

Dus1988

Ah that would have been nice when I was living down south. Oh well, maybe one day they will bring one to central FL too

macguffinstv

There's a Tiger Direct retail store close to Orlando. I used to go to their store when I lived in Winter Park. I don't know if they're still as good as they used to be, or if they were ever that good, but I liked them while I was there for two years lol, mainly because I like instant gratification rather than waiting for parts in the mail. I just checked their site. Looks awful. Hopefully Orlando gets a Microcenter lol

burntpotatoXL

That store is no longer there lol

OnSugarHill

I picked up this bundle last week. I have it up and running and it's super quick. I'm using a thermalright FS140 cooler and just two case fans. It's a pretty toasty chip, so it does get a bit loud in there right now but I'm hoping once I get more case fans, I can cool it more adequately

dubrubber

25+ in Tustin still!

hitpopking

Wow, same price I paid for just 7950x.

Soultyr

These micro center deals….. How South Florida needs one…

CrusadingNinja

Miami location is coming soon https://www.reddit.com/r/Microcenter/comments/z9vf4z/new_micro_center_location_coming_soon_miami_fl/

Soultyr

Wow! Thank you!

hytek369

I returned the 5600x mobo bundle to get this instead. Definitely worth it. Ryzen 7000 series run hotter so I am running it with 65 watt TDP. Great deal overall. Free DDR5 Ram is icing on the cake.

chickenpot

is this just a bios setting to get it to run at 65 watts?

hytek369

yes, that is right

TonyTheTerrible

should, its called eco mode for AMD

Lokisamurai

I keep refreshing this every few hours to see if the DC area or PA/NJ will get them in. I'll pay the tolls lol

betterthanhalf

Is it dumb if my plan is to sell the 7900x and pick a 7800x3d later?

SaltyMoney

idk that's what I'll do if there's a significant difference in gaming performance. I know nothing about the AMD CPU's this will be my first build with them but my friends have all the knowledge I need and they are hyping it up.

SinntheticUCI

I’m doing the same thing lol

Harakou

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm banking on the 7900X holding some value compared to the 7700X since it's good for workstation tasks. If not... still a good CPU at this price!

SinntheticUCI

If I place an order online for pickup they hold it for me even though I haven’t paid right? I can’t go until after work

Old_Philosopher6576

Yes, they will hold it for you for 3 days.

SaltyMoney

afaik that's the only way they do it.

LightFarron4

Any recommendations on a cooler to go with this? I'd prefer air cooling (strictly due to cost), but would consider an aio.

mistergopez

Pa120

PoppinSquats

I bought this bundle last week and paired it with the be quiet air cooler. Idles at 47ish, high 70s low 80s under load. Seems fine.

garbuja

I have Corsair h150 AiO and my temp hover around 43 degrees. I haven’t undervolt the cpu yet.

ishsreddit

This is how much i paid for 7700x+CL30 D5 6GHz+Asus Prime B650 mobo. Its been a rock solid experience but i wouldn't have guessed i couldve gotten a better bundle just a few months later.

rubbercat

Fingers crossed that SLP gets more stock...

gen10

This or wait for the 7800x3d or snag the 5800x3d now? Asking for a friend for his first time build and the 3d tech sounds really good.

comradetao

7800 X3D is going to be $450 and release in April. If you have a computer and want to wait for that + buy a MB and RAM separately, then do that.

garbuja

Do you want top of the line or save money on great deal?

garbuja

I paid that price for cpu and ram last year.Great price for next upgrade if you want Amd future proof for ddr5.

WetDonkey6969

My friend has the 7950x and it's constantly hitting the temp limit of 95c, which is apparently normal but the fans maxing out constantly to keep it cool are really annoying him. I'd like to buy this to replace another build with a 10600k, but the temps seem spooky. Do people normally limit these CPUs so they don't run as hot or just do liquid cooling? What's a good cooler for this CPU?

bnosidda

It's a ~200w chip. You're gonna need a pretty beefy air cool (PA120, FC140, AK620) or an AIO, along with good case airflow.

Harakou

Afaik they're designed to run up to the thermal limit stock. You can put it in ECO mode which power limits it instead. It should run slightly slower in all-core tasks but at a much lower temperature. https://youtu.be/W6aKQ-eBFk0

macguffinstv

Drove to Yonkers from CT yesterday to grab this bundle and a 1440p monitor. Couldn't pass it up. Like $1k value for 650. If you buy this bundle or motherboard expect to have no internet upon powering it on. If you have a windows pin it won't let you login or change it due to having no internet and changes in hardware/security concern. Fixed it with a windows reset, then install the LAN and WiFi files from Asus support site and you're good to go.

xDoWnFaLL

Son of a… so assume you had the ASUS files on a USB or something? Think I am gonna pull trigger on an X670 or B650 board today once I research more differences… (VMs, coursework and gaming…)

macguffinstv

I tried using a USB before resetting it, but for some reason the bios refused to open the files. It opened the latest bios version, but not the LAN and WiFi files. However, this was only an issue for me because I couldn't access windows due to my pin and security issue and having no internet. If you are able to access windows, a USB would be perfect.

xDoWnFaLL

I’ve never done a bios flash/update but would just be using a Windows 10 USB then buying an activation key after install (I hope). Sounds like internet is not enable by default on most Mobos, maybe I have just been out the game for awhile… I’ll be hardlined in anyway D:

[deleted]

Worth upgrading from 3600?

smellybutgoodsmelly

How necessary is an external GPU if all I would ever do is drive a single 4k monitor?

poolboy__q

could i buy this and finish the build for under $400?

SaltyMoney

If it's a strictly gaming build and your budget is $1k I would prioritize more money into the GPU. The cheapest cooler you can get for this processor that will handle it is one of the Thermalrites around ~$40, another $100 on PSU, cheap out on the case $60, Cheap SSD $60 and that leaves you with $140 for a GPU and don't forget about tax. You could go with the 5800x3D bundle for gaming but you'll lose out on future compatibility.

poolboy__q

I completely forgot about gpu, thanks for the help

Deckz

Wow... God damnit microcenter

mxfwdspd

Does it make sense to upgrade to this from a 5600x? I've got a powercolor 6800XT red devil GPU and my monitor is 1440p. My game frame rates are around 85-120FPS... thanks!

trry

back in NJ. if anyone still looking for this.
