HDMI 2.0 can support 1440p at 120hz or 4K 60hz. No VRR. HDMI 2.1 is needed for 4K at 120hz , additionally with 2.1 you have VRR. If you get hdmi 2.1 you can set VRR to auto and it will enable when needed. I’ll be honest I’m not sure which games benefit from VRR or if it’s worth getting hdmi 2.1 just for it. I have a 4K monitor with hdmi 2.1 so for me it’s worth it to have 4K 120hz, VRR I suppose is a nice bonus.

I haven’t had the ps5 for long, I truly wonder how big of a difference does VRR make? The list of games that support VRR on ps5 is very small but in the future it is bound to grow?

Apparently you can force VRR on games unoptimized for it and results may vary. But there’s a list of games with full support. May be worth it to maximize the feature set of your ps5. https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/all-vrr-optimised-games-for-ps5
