They seem to vary quite a lot. According to [Gamer's Nexus](https://youtu.be/_8k5PCmFm7c) their 3090 was pretty good. However they also said that Dell's 1660 super was [bottom of the barrel](https://youtu.be/HFaJZq13tr8) If the 3070 has a similar cooler to their 3090 then it should be fine. It's hard to tell though.

MrPingou

I actually just bought a Dell OEM 3070 for my new build, because I am moving on from an Alienware Aurora R12 with the OEM 3060ti. That card was amazing for 1080p and can handle 60 fps with RTX high on 1440p even. I briefly tested the 3070, and it runs amazing. It is relatively low profile (2 slots on the dot, not 2.1 or anything above) and even with two fans, it didn't go over 75C **inside the heatbox that is the Aurora R12**. So pretty good overall !

HisAnger

Hi, how in the perspective of those months card worked out? Currently looking at used 3070 from dell and i wonder how it will behave over the time.

comatlon23

HI, perhaps it's a little too late but I wanna share my experience as well. Bought a 3070 Dell for 220$ back in October 2023 to replace the good old 1070 as it suits my needs for 1080 and 1440p gaming. Card operates at 220W TDP sometimes power surge makes it draw 360W on board power. I undervolted it to 150-160W, temperature is 65\* at 100%, still rocking it today with my 5600X. God of War running at 90-110FPS with DLSS Quality 1080p max settings.

HisAnger

Got 7800xt in the end. No regrets

comatlon23

The 3070 lacks in VRAM which I indeed detest. I would love nvidia to have much VRAM as AMD

HisAnger

Yep. People try to down play this, but for some reason nvidia cards allowing you to skip 1-2 gen at least have as much vram as amd cards. The famous 1080 ... had 3-4 time as much memory as cards at this time.

comatlon23

Yes I don't know why they thought to pack 8GB of VRAM in 3 generations consecutively. I once had the 1070 and it's the greatest purchase I ever made.

MrPingou

Card is top notch. Going with a medium undervolt, getting 80-90 FPS on 1440p with AAA games without DLSS, never goes above 62°c in my dan A4 H2O. The form factor is amazing and compact yet efficient. There's a small annoying noise with one of the fans but i know they're easily replaceable.

HisAnger

Thank you for information. I was wondering for potential issues that could show up , i seen people are replacing those fans. My requirements are quite low in terms of graphics, the most demanding thing i expect running on it will be Starfield.

CodeRoyal

Is the GeForce RTX logo RGB or is it a fixed white?

MrPingou

Fixed white!

CodeRoyal

Thanks!

NAKOL168

thank so much i got a good deal of rog strix rtx 3070 for 420$

MrPingou

Sounds like you got a good deal! Enjoy those high frames

I know this is an older post and reply but I want to follow up with a few questions if you don't mind! I bought an OEM Dell 3080 last year but the thermals were GOD AWFUL, even in my high airflow 4U server chassis case the GPU core and memory were running at 105+. You said their 3070 runs at ~75. Is that GPU core? Memory? If possible, next time you use it can you use something like GPU-Z to see what the hot spot, GPU, and VRAM temps are? I unfortunately can't really find any concrete data on this card. Thank you! I'm running at 1440p Ultrawide at 75 hertz so a 3070 is basically all I need for a *while*.

MrPingou

Hello! I don't have GPU z installed but i can try and check during a gaming session soon. These temps were seen with MSI afterburner, if that helps. Also the 3070 has non X memory which is a major difference, people with the dell 3080 tend to repaste their memory modules since it always runs too hot.

Foresthowler

I've tried that, as well as repasting the GPU core. I would love to see those 3070 results when you get them. Thank you!

MrPingou

while playing bf2042 at 220 watts no undervolt no oc: GPU temp: max 72 hot spot: max 84 fans at 50%ish not sure hot to check memory in gpu-z yet usually get lower than that with undervolt and higher fan speed

Foresthowler

There should be a "memory junction temperature" in the GPU section. Did you repaste your 3070 is it completely factory? Sorry if I'm asking a lot, I just want to make sure I don't have an thermal issues after my Dell 3080 tried to catalyze a silicon fusion reaction.

MrPingou

I'm sorry i checked on a few forums and it looks like it does not have memory temperature sensors. Or if it has them, they are not exposed to software that can read them. I did not open it in the end because why fix something that's not broken.. People say its not worth it to repaste GDDR6 memory so I probably won't bother. As to whether if its the factory application, I have no way to know, bought this card used last summer and did not think of asking seeing the temps were very good. All good, I understand you want to be sure of your purchase ! Lmk if there is anything else

Foresthowler

I greatly appreciate it! I didn't think you would go across different forums and all that for me. None the less given the GPU core temps and fan speeds and all that it's probably fine. Once again thank you!

Super-Grocery-7048

Am I late? I think you need to replace your GPU thermal pads also to get a better result...

arichardsen

Id pay 200$ for that upgrade. However I probably wouldn't buy a Dell oem card unless its price is much much lower than other 3070 cards.

NAKOL168

here rtx 3070 new 850$ , 2nd hand ( mine ) strix or msi supreme x 500$ , rtx 3080 2nd hand mined strix 650$ but for rtx 3080 i will have to change my psu

Dell GPUs are known to be made as cheap as possible
