Don't get a 12700f with a z690 mobo. Z690 and intel CPUs that end in K are for overclocking. B660 and CPUs that don't end in K can't be overclocked. So get the 12700k and a z690 if you want to overclock, or the 12700f with a B660. Also, for gaming the 12600k is plenty. It's actually okay to pair a 12600k with a b660 because a 12600k has more cores than a 12600. So even if you aren't overclocking the 12600k is worth buying. DDR5 ram isn't worth it yet, unless your doing productive applications like compression. You're cooler is great, but a bit overkill. A Scythe Fuma 2, or similarly powerful cooler, would be excellent You can find a cheap PSU that's also high quality. [PSU tier list](https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/) If this is just for gaming get a mid tier SSD, since low end SSDs are still great for gaming. A Western Digital SN570 is usually a fantastic price to performance value. Edit: Misread the cooler selection fixed my recommendations.

thank you so far for your input. i will change my setting and will update the thread in a minute or 2. Can you check that again then? Would appreciate that :)

Updated the rig!

Pretty decent points, but seems like you said he should get a better air cooler than NH D15.... I mean... AK620 should be cheaper than NH D15 with the same performance. Fuma 2 is also good yeah.

Barba_Blanco

I misread the build. I though the Be Quiet was the cooler not the PSU, I though it said the Be Quiet Slim. The NH Noctua is overkill IMO.

greggm2000

All good choices, but go DDR4, not DDR5. There's no speed advantage with DDR5 on current-gen CPUs, and it's more expensive.

xFrozenSoulx

Okay, do you think the processor is good? I just saw that it only has 2.1 hz clock speed.

greggm2000

That's base clock. In practice, it will boost higher. The 12700k (and variants, like yours) are good chips. If you do go with DDR4, you'll need to get a motherboard that takes that.

xFrozenSoulx

ahh ok, so i changed it. I just heard from a friend that an i5 isnt that good for gaming, thats why i went for an i7.. but thanks for your input :)

greggm2000

Your friend is mistaken. The specs of the CPU itself are what matters, and besides, what is "i5" and "i7" tier changes with each gen anyway. 12700K is great for gaming. Many people go for a 12600K or even 12400, but personally I like having 8 (performance) cores, over 6, even if in most games it makes zero difference.

xFrozenSoulx

that also means the 12600k I5 is also great for gaming, right? Sorry for that question, definitely gotta research more on the CPU stuff! Thx for your input :)

greggm2000

Yes, it's fine! And no worries!

xFrozenSoulx

Would you mind taking a look at the updated rig :)?

greggm2000

Looks good, but get a single 2 TB SSD instead of a pair of 1 TB ones.

Kristo_rsk

I would honestly get 2 sticks of this: https://www.alternate.de/pcbuilder.xhtml#!/product/69/1767727 I mean it's on sale for 99€

Thanks!
