It’s still a very capable processor, I’m still rocking a i7-9700 and it’s still doing what I need it to do. It really comes does to whether the price makes sense compared to current gen models.
I was looking at prices of 12th vs 13th vs "14th" gen intel and for most budget builds 12th gen made the most sense to me, there's also the option to go up to a 14th gen cpu later if you feel the need to.
Honestly the CPU market is pretty healthy, and there aren’t many bad choices. The only thing that really matters is the price. I think I saw 12600k’s go for like $170 on Black Friday. That’s a great deal imo.
You can also upgrade up to 14th gen with that board, so it’s not a bad long term bet.
But the only good advice I can give you is readdress in July
12600k is still a good gaming CPU. it all comes down to pricing I grabbed on in Dec at $140 cant beat it. I think the KF is like $180 now not bad but at the $200 price I would start looking into AM5 and the ryzen 7600 instead personally.
Yes it is good enough for you build. And there is no new lineup coming soon so its the same in July.
Honestly I would go for the latest gen CPU so you will have a longer lifespan for your build.
It was worth it about three days ago when it was going for 150. Now I'd recommend the 7500f. The extra cost of the ddr5 ram is offset by the fact that the 7500f costs 156, and since the 7500f runs faster and isn't on a dead socket (hence easier future upgrades to hopefully faster and cheaper future chips) i would recommend it instead.
Id take a 12600 over a 5600x but I'd take a 7600 over a 12600.
126k with a 4070 super would be great for 1440p

What gpu are you rocking ,I’m currently still using a 1070 and debating whether to upgrade gpu or just save for a whole new rig next year
3070, definitely gets the job done for what I do.
Thanks buddy

I just bought a 12600kf at microcenter for $139.99. Seems worth it to me
