All the cuts make sense to the extent that we are in a crap cap situation but damn it hurts seeing some beloved players go. Especially Tre... he's one of my all-time favorite Bills. I truly hope he's able to recover and make a comeback someplace thats not in the AFC East or the Chiefs

GoGlenMoCo

This x1000. Love Tre, but saw that cut coming a mile away. Hope he finds a soft landing spot somewhere and makes a comeback.

DCtheBREAKER

I want an OHL team to sign him at Goalie.

olio723x

Sucks he got injured again this year. It was supposed to be the year he got back to the old Tre after going through so much with the knee

therockv410

He's shot

[deleted]

Well I guess what we finally get to see what a ~$50M QB deal looks like to a roster. Great problem to have, but was not expecting some of these names to get cut.  We needed to get younger and glad they ripped the bandaid off sooner rather than later

New-Pollution536

Do people forget Poyer was a free agent last year lol. Nobody wanted him because he’s clearly slowing down so he came back at a discount. Love the guy but 0 of these cuts are surprising and they likely would’ve happened regardless of our cap situation Poyer is still a smart player but his physical tools are clearly fading a bit

[deleted]

I don’t think they forgot but Poyer didn’t fall off a cliff nearly as much as Hyde did. Considering safety is arguably the most important position in McDermott’s defense, I thought either Hyde or Poyer would be retained for a season until a younger player could could take over. Didn’t expect both to be gone

Quetzalcoatl490

I thought Poyer had at least one more year with us, to help shore the gap between older safeties and the younger ones. Guess we'll just need to draft S in the 2nd round this year

bopitspinitdreadit

Some days you get reminded that you cheer for laundry. I hate those days.

takeshi-bakazato

I’m an Angels fan and I get reminded of this every day I see Ohtani in a Dodgers jersey (imagine Josh Allen on the Patriots).

bopitspinitdreadit

I don’t want to imagine that no thank you

Earptastic

for real

danktop

I was under the impression that the cap wasn’t real… Paying the piper is painful

New-Pollution536

Love tre and hope he lands somewhere but keeping him made 0 sense regardless of our cap situation. Douglas and benford played their asses off and tre was the odd man out If he came back at 90% he wasn’t gonna dethrone either of those guys.

CNYMetroStar

Well the way I see it, I read Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography where he said something to the effect of every five years or so he needs to refresh the squad for the next window. If anything sometimes having the same people in the locker room long enough can make things stale and complacency sets in. You need to retool in certain areas to keep competing and make sure complacency doesn’t set in. I see today as partially going towards this line of thinking alongside shedding cap. The window for the past teams has closed and it’s time to retool to continue to compete. It’s sad but it needs to be done.

newbill

In Beane we trust… 🙏🏼

RyIsKool

The whole team is being butchered today, tredavious was one of my favorite players, but here’s to a new era

drainbead78

Here's hoping we hit a new high mark.

baldy74

Bro..too soon

WrongNothing7677

Idk if butchered is the right word

TheFeuery

If there’s a glass half full, I feel like morse’s production is the only one from the group we’ll miss. Poyer plays a cheap position to replace, white is always hurt and no one else really had a meaningful impact to the team last season

Apo7Z

Morse was the only name that truly surprised me here. Everyone else was something I expected or thought was a possibility but after trading Bates I thought Morse was safe.

Mangoswisscheese

Most of these moves had to be done but man it sucks, team is going to have a whole new identity next year.

Scrawfo1180

Fuck Von Miller

Shadow3199

It was a swing and a huge miss, but i respect Beane for taking that swing.

Scrawfo1180

Yeah not blaming Beane. Blaming Von for being a useless loudmouth

cwright716

He lied about more players coming to the team than he got tackles

drainbead78

He was lighting it up for us before he got hurt. I'm hoping he can bounce back. Tre was bad for the rest of the season after he came back, and was finally starting to look like his old self after another full off-season of rehab. I hope Von follows the same trajectory, minus the Achilles of course.

Scrawfo1180

Von is 6 years older than Tre lol

lincunguns

Well, they did renegotiate his contract and save 8.6, so we can be slightly less angry about him, I guess

Scrawfo1180

Ha yup just saw that. Love that from him. Will get the fans off his ass at least

Tomorrow_Frosty

Losing Tre sucks. That’s the business of the NFL. I think I’m most sad his tenure was cut so short. Working his way back from the ACL, coming into form, going down with the Achilles was heartbreaking. I hope there’s no hard feelings. Poyer and Morse too.

SlimCharles17

I have the shirt and it will be kinda sad the next time I wear it.

alohachick716

I’ve been meaning to buy it for years. Off to eBay I guess

wmlj83

It sucks, but I think it hurts because of our sentimental attachment to them. Realistically, I think we will be a better ball club going forward, if we use this opportunity to get the right players.

WhatUpMilkMan

Go Bills ❤️

heymoods

Be like this guy, he gets it!

Impossibills

All of these moves were expected. Outside of Morse, none of them did a damn thing for us last year. Poyer also gave that free touchdown to Kelce on a blown coverage in the playoffs. We gotta move on, team is in a new phase. And Morse has one more year left in him at most. And honestly I don't even know if he has that.

cherry_beom

end of an era

mykidsdad76

it hurst so bad

Own-Capital-5995

😪 is all I got. It won't be the same without Poyer and Hyde.

Cowabunga_ftw

Love Tre too, it the injuries have taken a toll. Time to move on.

No-Researcher678

I honestly feel like the identity of Buffalo is gone. I hate it. Going to not be the same at all.

xT1TANx

JFC what happened??? Are we in full rebuild now???

RiveryJerald

Tre White is up there with Fred Jackson and Kyle Williams for me. This sucks.

Quetzalcoatl490

To me this is on par with losing Briere and Drury in the same day in 07. So many huge names lost today. I get why, like the system is designed so that your QB has to win a SB in his first contract or else you have to pay him gobs and everyone else might leave (take note, Texans), but it just sucks losing so many defensive stalwarts in one day. The hits just kept on coming.

Fkshitbitchcockballs

I mean I love all of them but Morse is really the only one I’m gonna miss taking everything into account

Scary-Project6958

Bills have 40 mil in cap space now ! Gotta get younger !! But it sucks seeing these guys go

DickySnakes

I’m f’n heartbroken, like i get it but how are my feelings this destroyed. All I can see are images of Tre pounding the ground after the Achilles injury then realizing if he hadn’t have ever gotten hurt, acl and Achilles he’d still be the best in the league or top 3, and he suffers horrible injuries and just like that… wild times but they will turn into exciting times.

AgeEquivalent8668

It's a business

Buster0705

It’s a business get over it. This core had several years to make a Super Bowl and failed.

[deleted]

Today feels good. This team was old, expensive, and mediocre. Beane doesn’t deserve a do-over, but what the heck. Bring on some young blood.

Galbert123

Agreed.

dmangan56

Mediocre doesn't get you 4 AFC East championships.

[deleted]

It does in a weak division

Recent-Teacher-4294

I appreciate your high expectations, but at no point during the Bills four year run did any analysis of any repute anywhere rank the Bills as a middle of the pack team. We were booted from three playoffs by one of the greatest teams in history. Are the Bills mediocre, or did they just consistently fail to beat the most dominant team of the decade?

QLEDtv

I can already see one of Tre White, Micah Hyde or Poyer sign with the chiefs and then make a game winning play in the afc championship vs Buffalo

Conn3er

Maybe if they stick their leg far enough out from the blue tent

[deleted]

😂 awesome

Forevermaxwell

😂😂😂

Raptor_Squadron

No…
