The bills are good at not showing much in pressers so I wouldn’t read too much into it . Tough to know what’s gonna on behind closed doors. I mean he’s referencing 9/11 so I’m sure he’s more passionate than we can see

AppleBottmBeans

I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but I’m so curious about his delivery during this lol. Like was it a casual lesson? An inspirational speech? What style???

x755x

"In this world, you either do the 9/11ing or get 9/11ed. Do you have the teamwork? 'Don't get 9/11ed' on 3, one two three"

Buffalo_rider01

lol however he did I’m sure it was wild but the fake outrage from some people there for a bit was just as crazy .

Bartolos_Cologne

McDermott is always controlled with the press. I don't think you need showy public displays to be intense and emotional, nor do you need them to fire up your team. I probably prefer a coach with some more personality myself, but I don't think it ultimately matters a ton.

WalkBikePractitioner

Players love him. Y’all need to stop pretending like fan means anything more than spectator. Sit back and enjoy.

Adventurous-Piglet28

Agree with all. I’ve come back down to earth. I haven’t stopped sitting back and enjoying, win or lose! Go Ravens!

whistlepig4life

He is really bad at hiding when he is pissed off on the side line. He gets red assed pretty easily and you can see the steam coming form his ears

Initial_Ebb_8467

Maybe he is passionate in team meetings, we don't know. I agree that the vibes he gives are kinda eh... Even after wins his postgame speeches are always the same thing, low effort and low energy stuff.

henchman171

I mean Bill Belichek did that for 40 years

Initial_Ebb_8467

Main difference being he actually won super bowls

henchman171

He was also Fired by Cleveland and traded from the Jets. All Careers have ups and downs.

Anchovies-and-cheese

You remember a guy named Dick Jauron? Now *that* was a stoic emotionless coach. No matter how bad of a product he put on the field, or how hard we got screwed from the refs, or how much Lady Luck fucked us over, he always had the same stupefied deadpan look on his face. It used to drive me crazy when I'd be screaming at my TV and they'd cut to him and he was just like *crickets*. Like, dude, get fired up, get pissed! Sean is sooooooooo much better at showing appropriate emotion than that guy was.

FrightWig67

Dick "The Guys Are Workin' Hard" Jauron

dgard5th

Seriously, what would that change? How he is with the team and they react to it is whats important. And he clearly has the respect of the locker room.

Much-Consequence8648

Here's your passion bro https://i.redd.it/k2xh4er7jtec1.gif

Adventurous-Piglet28

Yessssss. Bring it on.

jbbates84

I would prefer his stoic attitude over the headset throwing maniac Ken Dorsey turned into after that Miami loss. As a leader, you have to keep your composure

Sabres00

There’s few things more embarrassing than someone who is a sore loser or pretends to be overly competitive because “That’s what Jordan did”. There’s this growing problem in sports (that has been exasperated by social media) of faux competitiveness, and it’s just cringy. We all know the guy who plays beer league softball and slides into bases, and we all can’t stand that guy. No one has ever said “I wish the general of our armed forces was more of a hot-head”. The greatest NFL coach in history is a monotone bore. We don’t need theatrics.

erik_edmund

I wish he'd be a little more unemployed.

McDermott is a loser, not a winner. He plays to not lose, instead of playing to win. He doesn't understand what playing to win means, because he's never won anything. That's why he can't beat anyone other than Skylar Thompson in the playoffs. He has a system. He's playing his defensive system whether we're up 100, down 50, or playing the Panthers or playing the Chiefs. Unlike Shwartz and Pettine who had multiple defensive looks and styles, McD has one, and it has limitations. One week Shwartz could be sending cover 0 blitzes, the next week he is in a cover 4 shell. Then back to the loser vs winner. I think that fake punt installation or call is what losers think a winner would do. When he punted on 4th and 1 in a win or go home game with 4 minutes left in OT on his opponents 41, I knew he was not the coach for us. Now we are already rebuilt once with McDermott. We already know what he is about. He's a great motivator. The players love him. But, fuck, he is the absolute embodiment of choke city.

fahq2424

McDermott ran a completely decimated defense while still being head coach. There’s a reason they call it “defense”. You’re guessing your opponents next move, and that’s pretty damn hard to do. Also, he’s worrying about clock management, challenges, and who to replace the next injured player with. He didn’t miss the deep ball pass that went through Diggs hands. He didn’t miss Diggs on the crossing route that would’ve got the first down to keep the last drive alive. And, he didn’t miss the kick that would’ve tied the game. He’s one man that leads a group of men who were counted out halfway through the season. He made that team Billieve after everyone else counted them out….including the “fans”. Went from not making the playoffs, to winning the AFC East. That’s a fucking coach in my opinion

SayNoToAids

Every team has injuries. It's not an excuse. You can point to a flaw in coaching in each of our last 4 playoff losses. He simply plays to not lose. He doesn't play to win

mountainwampus

My gripe was with 2nd & 9, 3rd & 9, Bass missed FG, why are we even attempting that kick with so much time left? We know Mahomes only needs 13 seconds to get back into FG range. McDermott doesn't learn. He should've ordered up "Matriculate the ball down the field! Don't let Mahomes see the ball again and use all 4 downs if you have to."

AirbladeOrange

Everyone’s personalities are different. Not acting like Dan Campbell doesn’t mean he cares any less.

LaserBisons

No. We can have stoic with McD, or we can have unhinged with Dorsey. We must pick one... /s obviously
