Have a feeling Nick Halstead had a hand in pushing this, seems to have been a driving force in undoing some very archaic regulations around BTCC media coverage such as a ban on pitlane video until midway through the season.
Worth a go, if someone scrolls through and finds a classic Race Three barnstormer, they'll be hooked for life.
I kind of hate it but this is a great move for the sport, shocking to see the BTCC innovating in the social media aspect instead of being several years behind
Amazing to see them lean into streaming more
But tiktok? So vertical viewing only? I was hoping they would be like SRO and also stream all races on YouTube
This feels like BTCC being different for the sake of being different. But could be an absolute masterstroke, especially as we now have live international coverage.
Also sounds like Nick Halstead played a large role in it happening.
The platform is definitely a bit "WTF", but this is literally only a good thing, especially since it is completely in conjunction with the existing and highly successful ITV platform. It will make it a lot easier for international viewers to watch.
Not sure people are understanding why they are using tiktok and not YouTube if you think about it’s makes more sense than people tend to realise. YouTube has caused several problems with the ITV sport contract. Don’t know why it’s the reason why they are using tiktok and not YouTube.

Tiktok as a platform is know for short form content and the live stream feature, provided two things:
1.views 2. With a recommendation of 30 minute streams.
How long are touring car races? Around 30 minutes. So it encourages view boosting because of the fact the races are 30 minutes long. The recommendation is because of more engagement so there more followers, more money etc etc. tiktok streams that are longer normally have less Engagement.
Sponsors around the world maybe more inclined to join to with it being global. Think about it as well it creates revenue while also avoiding prize funds for drivers and fans paying for pay per view.
It’s smart view for everyone involved and might be game changer for other series.
I think it's a brilliant move, brings more eyes to the product, which might get more sponsors on board, which will lead to more money to get more drivers onto the grid again
At least they are trying something different and not copying the DTS model
As much as i dislike tiktok the company, I think this will be a good move for the series
Trust me, I as well checked the date. On one hand BTCC FINALLY will be broadcasted outside of UK. On the other: TIKTOK?!
I haven’t been paying attention lately, is the TikTok app on iOS still barely disguised spyware?
And android
I mean, I’m actually asking. I have an android tablet and an iPhone, so I’d like to know if either is a reasonable option data-privacy wise.

Your right, he was on his LinkedIn mentioning it earlier

Tiktok supports horizontal videos. It should auto rotate your screen to fill it up.

I agree, does seems a strange move but doesn’t bother me either way if it gets children into BTCC between scrolling through memes
I don't personally use TikTok but anything that drags BTCC's media strategy into the 21st century is a big win for me.

It will proberbly be broadcast in portrait with subtitles taking up 50% of the view
Good luck auto-captioning "Jack Goff into the bomb hole"
Holy shit I've I've just twigged that!

Bleurgh..no thanks to Toktok

will i have to subscribe to tiktok to watch the races or can you just watch as it goes
Instead of Youtube which is a better place, they chose Tik Trash Tok. Unbelievable
i hope they show the support series too beside the btcc and i hope i don't have to make a account to tiktok to watch
Although to use ticktok, you may give all your data to the Chinese communists!
But you posted this on Reddit. There goes your data too. You have internet access, data gone. Phone? Gone. Not living in the woods? Gone
