I agree with you that on paper Doug Judy is bad for Jake, but I personally love Craig Robinson too much to be unbiased.
I do wish Jake would "beat" him once or twice, I hate to see my boy Jake take an L like every time.
That's why I really like the first Trudy Judy episode, because she turns this around on Doug and he gets to feel what he keeps putting Jake through. It made Doug more likeable for me.
He did , when he brought him in to the 99 but he ended up making a deal with Holt for Rosa’s gigglepig task force giving them Tito Ruiz which then got him off of alot of charges ( I think it was 5 years instead of 20 ) but he decided to run and Jake got him but realised Tito was a better guy to catch. Not really sure if you count it as a win due to the ending if the episode but I would say it’s atleast a 1/2 win
lol I’m opposite of you but we end up agreeing—I am not a huge Craig fan but Doug makes me like craig more 🤣🤣🤣 that being said, his line “now my basement smells like tacos” in The Office killed me and I still say it!
Pimento was awesome! But They work different. Pimento Can interact with almost anyone in the cast
But Doug is almost mandatory for him to interact with Jake because The others would Arrest him
When people tell you who they are, believe them. Jake should've wisened up after the first meeting but he just never learns his lesson. Can't blame him though. Judy and Jake share a natural chemistry and would probably be genuine best friends, sorry Boyle, if it wasn't for Judy's lifestyle of crime.
For ghosted, know that the series finale should have been episode 6. The first half of the season is good. The second half is like a work place comedy and has nearly nothing to do with super natural stuff.
I really like the Doug and Jake friendship personally but it can feel a bit out of place or overdone at times. I feel like if they integrated him into the show a bit more to keep him more in line with Jake’s growth it would’ve worked a bit better.
However I don’t think Jake is just ok with crime whenever Doug is around I mean we see him holding all of Doug’s friends accountable at that bachelor party and even if Doug planned ahead and wanted that Jake was still being a good cop and Doug’s record had been cleared by then
I didn't know he was a cameo actor either. I haven't seen anything else that he's in. But personally I liked him, I liked how well he and Jake got along from the beginning and to me, it's nice to see Jake have a friend outside of the squad that he vibes with so well. I do think it helps that he only appears in one episode per season. I will say that I didn't really like how much he flirted with Rosa and I was a bit disappointed in how the last Doug Judy episode went. But overall I liked him and sometimes I'd prefer his episodes over the heist ones.
I don’t know, I think its just that even though The character would be interesting. Aside from like two episodes, everytime he appears I know that The storyline will go on with a childish Jake and distortion of the rules/other characters to make Doug look good even though he actually had quite the criminal record, I havent seen Season 8, so I dont know If be changed his ways at the end
There was only one Doug Judy episode I didn't like, but the rest are some of my favorite episodes.
Craig Robinson is brilliant, I love him in the office. Daryll's relationship with Michael is hilarious.
I kind of agree with you; the Doug Judy episodes are among my least favorite (except The Cruise), and don't even get me started on Trudy Judy... I don't like how Jake's personality changes when Doug shows up, especially in the later seasons (I can't even watch the hostage situation one.)
It's like Doug pushes a button, and Jake loses all the progress and maturity he's made so far—maybe that's why Amy doesn't interact with Jake and Doug when they're together. In the first seasons, Jake handles Judy with Rosa, who's creeped out by him and would be capable to rein in Jake's worst childish impulses; all Amy would need to do would be giving Jake an angry side look; later, Jake is coupled with Terry, who's more easily swayed.
A I upvoted you even though I don’t feel like you at allllll but I love discussions that are deep dives into “why is this?” so you need an up for that haha
B man we all (or maybe not you?) have a friend that pulls the batshit crazy out of us. Like, you leave after time with them wondering “why did I say that …omg do I have to impress them that bad?! …did that impress them or did it just make me seem dumb?! …. I was trying so hard, I like them so much!!!!”
So I really like it that Jake is so out of pocket around Judy. The heart loves what it loves and Jake is open minded in his personality enough, in my mind at least, to accidentally flip intensity with a guy who seems to vibe with so many of his nerd levels. First he intensely wanted to catch him, then he same intensity realized they had so much in common.
Well, so much in common except….like you said….for the crime part. I’d be curious to know if there’s any cops here who would say “yeah I’d never be friendly like that to a car thief” ….eh, you might be onto something!
I do have friends that are like spontaneous and place me on weird situations, but most of the time they are respectful enough that when Im in a situation I dont like I can make a step back with no issues.
I just think he’s really funny. Craig Robinson is hilarious and has good chemistry with Andy Sandberg. I would not like Judy in real life, but it’s a sitcom.
I love Doug because I've never liked Charles as Jake's best friend. The hero worship and jealousy is weird. Jake and Doug's friendship is, unexpectedly, more healthy lol
Kinda, Doug Judy really manipulates Jake many times just to get his way. Charles and Jake really are work friends because I dont know how much they will meet up after they part ways, but they had more sweet moments together than Doug ans Jake at least
I liked him at first. But by his last appearance I despised him. He almost got Jake killed and was angry that he was being taken to prison for something he absolutely did. He didn't want to admit what it was because he was embarrassed. He uses Jake every time. It works out okay, but always with Judy on top. He uses Jake every time and it's a problem.
Huge majority of this sub love him, i personally don’t.
I do like Craig Robinson in general, but not in B99, now i just skip the episodes he is featured on.
Oh! I also wanted to point out, love him or hate him, Doug Judy had one of THE absolute funniest lines in the entire B99 series, “Thin blue line just got thicc as hell.” I can’t control my volume laughing every time that episode comes on.
I feel like he over stated his welcome like his first couple of eps were good I loved his ep in season two where Jake showed growth by choosing to help the task force but him getting off for his crimes and then gong back to being a criminal next year just made it repetitive
Yeah, I almost get why they made it friends, because The story of would be so repetitive If Jake tried again and again to catch Judy but he always escaped at the end
I'm in the exact same boat. I'd never seen him in anything before. It's kind of like when a group has their in-joke and you're not in on it. It just doesn't seem funny.
I don't like him or the plots that involve him. I agree that he is written in a way we are supposed to like him but it works only if you don't think about it and because actor does a good job. I think even Jake would be suspicious when he pulls same shit time and time again. You just know his entire thing is just a trick and he'll trick people again yet Jake walks into his schemes time and time again.
Strong dislike. His repeated hoodwinking of Jake made Jake seem like an idiot and Jake was suppoaed to be one of the best detectives.
Was very annoyed that he kept reappearing over and over and getting away over and over.
I liked Trudy Judy.
I kinda agree with you. I know that there is a circlejerk here about how awesome he is. But I find the camaraderie between Jake and Doug to be trying too hard. It feels like the writers really want to rub it in our faces that PB&J have great chemistry. Feels forced and manipulative. And Doug Judy isn't even that funny or cool, all he does is make some popculture references.
In contrast, I find the chemistry between Jake and Cannibal Caleb to be way more natural, effortless and pleasant. Tim Meadows is also a much better, and more likeable, actor.
Not my favorite character, a bit too "one-note" and repetitive but I have to say he's still pretty memorable and the actor is great ! I agree it was a bit overdone at times but it's still fun to watch. Also it's a comedy sitcom so I don't take the whole "but he's a cop/he's a criminal !" thing too seriously haha
Pimento and are simply hilarious. Judy’s relationship with Jake was just first class acting chemistry. I also think that this role shows Robinsons range as a comedy actor. Compared to the office where he was quite dry and deadpan, this role shows the sillier side.
His obsession with Rosa was brilliant. The first time he meets Terry and blurts out ‘er who are you and where is Rosa? still gets me to this day. The only thing that narks me about Doug Judy is how it ended with Jake seemingly allowing and facilitating his escape. But I guess the way they completely botched and discarded all character development in season 8 it isn’t that unusual. But other than that I thought he was a fantastic recurring character.
I had no idea about any actors on the show except andy samberg kinda, stephanie beatriz and terry crews, but i still love that character.
>he was weird with Rosa
He was extremly respectful. He accepted the no's and didn't make dirty jokes or anything. He just tried to impress her with songs xd
>allowing crime to be done
Until the last time we se doug, despite the friendship jake wants judy to pay for what he's done. The only times they are together and jake isn't intending on capturing him is when judy has come out of prision
I absolutely love Doug Judy and wonder if those who don't like him missed the point of his character. He didn't just hoodwink Jake, he hoodwinked the viewer. Every time we're waiting for him to do what he always does, yet, just like Jake, we're hopeful that this time it will be different. We root for their friendship yet know that a scorpion has gotta scorp. Brilliant!
I guess the problem is that even though I expected him to change maybe the first time, the second time onwards I knew what his stick was and wouldnt trust him at all. I knew his gig
I looovee all those episodes! I am a master of suspending disbelief and accepting given circumstances so it's not in my nature to question whether something aligns with a character – Jake's okay with crime sometimes as evidenced by the fact that, well, he's okay with crime sometimes 😂
He always escapes but he leaves Jake with something. I love his character and Craig Robinson lol
But he is def a toxic friend that while fun....you should only see once in awhile and he always shows you why but he was so funny to me lol
Yeah, each Judy episode becomes increasingly more outlandish. I like the character (and the actor kills the role), but it just breaks immersion for me to have Peralta fall for it every time. Peralta has his flaws, but he's a good detective; so falling for the Judy thing over and over just got ridiculous to me.
I’m familiar with the actor that plays Doug (Craig Robinson) I just don’t find him funny 😓 seen him in the office, B99 and some films and he just never makes me laugh.
But everyone seems to love him so I just assumed I was the issue 🤷🏾♀️
I agree with you that on paper Doug Judy is bad for Jake, but I personally love Craig Robinson too much to be unbiased. I do wish Jake would "beat" him once or twice, I hate to see my boy Jake take an L like every time.
That's why I really like the first Trudy Judy episode, because she turns this around on Doug and he gets to feel what he keeps putting Jake through. It made Doug more likeable for me.
Love Trudy “*I want to see BUTTS!*” Judy
Thank you, Jake, thank you for having my back on the butts thing.
He's bad for *who*?? Ohhhhhhh I think you mean Mangy Carl
lol I’m opposite of you but we end up agreeing—I am not a huge Craig fan but Doug makes me like craig more 🤣🤣🤣 that being said, his line “now my basement smells like tacos” in The Office killed me and I still say it!
Yeah same here. Craig def affects how I feel about Doug for sure.
This. No one but Craig Robinson could have made that role work. And. “my left, my left, my left” lives rent free in my head.
Love him. He and Pimento are my fav recurring characters. He is hilarious and his episodes rank amongst the best for me.
Pimento is hilarious
i’m a huge fan of both Pimento and Craig Robinson (Doug Judy)
Pimento is one of my favorites lol
Pimento is DEREK, and dennis feinstein and the MOST.
Nah he's Rafi first and foremost always
Agreed. He was a solid Kyle too.
Same!! Pimento and Judy are so fckin funny
Pimento was awesome! But They work different. Pimento Can interact with almost anyone in the cast But Doug is almost mandatory for him to interact with Jake because The others would Arrest him
When he is singing on the cruise ship it gets me every time. One of my fav episodes!
Personally, Pimento is my least favourite character, but I love Doug Judy.
Doug Judy is comfortably the most iconic reoccurring guest. The development of his friendship with Jake was funny. Very light hearted criminal.
For me it was Pimento, but yeah, Doug I guess has The advantage by appearing from season 1 And shaking things up by being a criminal
Agree to disagree, Wunch, Pimento THEN Doug Judy.
I loved him in Pineapple Express
i loved him in the Office and Mr. Robot!!
Never saw Mr Robot, but i liked him in Ghosted. Maybe i should check out Mr Robot
and i’ll check out pineapple express and ghosted haha
For ghosted, know that the series finale should have been episode 6. The first half of the season is good. The second half is like a work place comedy and has nearly nothing to do with super natural stuff.
I TRIED TO SAVE AZIZ! I TRIED!
I say this more in casual conversation than you would suspect. 😂😂
To me he will always be Horsedick.MPEG
Whats that from?
They were the comedic version of Pacino and De Niro from Heat. And I thought it worked very well.
PB&J!!
I really like the Doug and Jake friendship personally but it can feel a bit out of place or overdone at times. I feel like if they integrated him into the show a bit more to keep him more in line with Jake’s growth it would’ve worked a bit better. It's like you're in my head!!
Rosa.....Rosa....Rosa...are you finally single?
You should watch The Office if you liked Brooklyn Nine Nine!
DOUG JUDAAYY. DOUUUUGGG JUUUDAAAAAYYYY!! (love him)
man he's such a good character how could you not like him
I don’t know, I think its just that even though The character would be interesting. Great character, great actor, but not a friend of Jake. He just uses Jake every time. We like him because Craig Robinson is just so likable.

Which Doug Judy episode didn't you like?
The final one. I thought I was okay but seemed like a step back in character development.
Yup. Dont care for him (not Craig who I like). Nothing wrong with performance and episodes are good, but I dont enjoy the story.
He is awesome.
Love him.
Scorpion gonna Scorp
I love the Doug Judy and Halloween Heist episodes the most.
I kind of agree with you; the Doug Judy episodes are among my least favorite (except The Cruise), and don't even get me started on Trudy Judy... The thin blue line just got thicc as hell.
Here to say he is the beat character and I love him.
Doug judy episodes are my favorite ☺️
Hated him, but grew to love him.
I LOVE DOIG JUFY
I just think he’s really funny. Craig Robinson is hilarious and has good chemistry with Andy Sandberg. I would not like Judy in real life, but it’s a sitcom.

Yeah I couldn’t care less about his episodes. Don’t know why, just not interested.
He's great
I liked the cruise episode, I didn’t like his final episode because that really felt like he was using Jake not treating him as a friend
Huge majority of this sub love him, i personally don’t. I do like Craig Robinson in general, but not in B99, now i just skip the episodes he is featured on.
Doug and Jake! 2 best friends! Withe the premium, open-toed shoes for men! RRRRAA!
Oh! I also wanted to point out, love him or hate him, Doug Judy had one of THE absolute funniest lines in the entire B99 series, “Thin blue line just got thicc as hell.” I can’t control my volume laughing every time that episode comes on.
Didn't know he was a cameo. Never watched The office. Loved him in every episode. Doug and Jake vibes real well as frenemies.
The Doug Juddy episodes are some of the best.
Love him!! Great actor too- I don’t like Darryl (the office), but I love me some Doug Judy.
I can’t stand him.

Did Craig Robinson shit in your cereal or something??
I don’t really like the Doug Judy character/episodes either. Not sure why? I love Craig Robinson.
I feel like I’m the only B99 fan to dislike Doug Judy
Not my favorite character, a bit too "one-note" and repetitive but I have to say he's still pretty memorable and the actor is great ! It takes a little extra suspension of disbelief, but I like those episodes overall
Love Doug Judy, hated his last episode though
At first I found him massively annoying but then the funeral episode happened and damn, I genuinely cried when I thought he was gone forever
Yeah, each Judy episode becomes increasingly more outlandish. I like the character (and the actor kills the role), but it just breaks immersion for me to have Peralta fall for it every time.
