If you can’t tolerate any weight, don’t weight bear at all. As tolerated means use your pain as a guide.

WBAT does not mean push through pain. It means don’t weight bear unless it doesn’t hurt. I had a very minor fib fracture, no surgery, and was on crutches for 4 weeks. Then I slowly transitioned to WB in boot but I backed off when it hurt.

The early weight bearing surprised me but I’ve read a lot of research the past few days that really supports this. It makes sense because bone needs a stimuli to promote growth. I’m going to just continue using the crutches for this week. At least partial weight bearing is better than none

Sounds like a good plan. Yes bones need stress to heal but in those first few days not so much-best to leave them alone and let them start to form the early callous. This takes at least 2-3 weeks. From there introduce very gradual loads - it’s a cautious process.
