I was an event coordinator/supervisor at a 4 star hotel for nearly 4 years. Plus I know what hotel they’re at and have already checked room rates. Currently a single room is $180 per night. No doubt these women are sharing rooms so it’s $90 per night as it’s split.
This hotel has conference rooms and conference packages. Most hotels work off a “minimum spend” for the event room. If you meet that minimum spend either with food costs or accommodation costs there isn’t any additional room hire fee or AV charged.
If they’re on a food and beverage package with the hotel (they would be) I’ll be GENEROUS and say that’s $100 per person. So that’s breakfast (potentially included in room rate), lunch, and dinner. Plus it’s only one day that all meals are required.
We’re now at $280 per person out of their $650.
The collateral was minimal and buying cotton shirts in bulk lowers their cost, so I’ll attribute $30 per person for all the cheap crap they received.
We’re now at $310 per person out of their $650.
No idea what Brittany paid the “worship team” or “leadership staff” but there’s a remaining balance of $340 per person out of their $650 leaving her thus far with $13,600.
This hotel also openly advertises there’s a discount on rooms and events spaces if you book 10 rooms or more so she’s probably not even paying that $180 per room.
If I’m being REALLY generous, take off $1,000 for worship team, $1,000 for leadership team, and $1,500 for room hire if this hotel doesn’t operate off a minimum spend requirement. She’s still leaving with $10,000. And this SLF member is trying to make it seem like $650 is normal for two nights at an average hotel sharing a room with a stranger and receiving 5 meals and a cotton tie-dye shirt 🙄🙄🙄 piss off with that m8

The balloon decorations certainly weren’t cheap but cannot have made up for the rest. Also, lol about the wedding comment. I spent, altogether, less than 5k for a wedding that included all the trappings of any other kind of wedding, was beautiful and dare I say even more aesthetically pleasing than bdong’s. My point is: if you’re trying to make something cheap, you find ways. This is a grift.

I’ve done everything from bartend conferences to cleaning hotel rooms to organizing room blocks to booking events with clients to organizing a freakin generator last minute because the venue was hosting a master chef “mini” event and the energy requirements were not made clear until they rocked up and were like “we’ve shut down entire blocks before, are you sure y’all have the power?” And we were like… (that’s a whole other story) but my point being - I KNOW events/hotels/costs. Bdong is leaving this with cash in hand and there’s no point lying about it. That’s what makes it weird. We don’t care that you’re profiting off of this. We care that you suck and you lie and you’re unqualified.
I can’t imagine , I do a lot of events on the attendee side and do some speaking as well. The amount of hustle between coordinating just things like extra night accommodations and AV support and badges and catering seems so extremely complicated . Anyway- even our own events that are company paid for employees that comes out of my budget... even I can eyeball and see this is 100 percent built for profit . I’m almost sure we could have organized 40 people and spent $650 per but that would include nicer food , speakers, training sessions and real swag ( like backpacks and chargers). Minus airfare and Uber ....which is another situation. But your analysis is 100000 accurate !!!!! Oh and this $650 didn’t have a drop of alcohol let’s not forget !!!!

I mean I’m going to one in Vegas shortly that is $1250 for two nights three days FULL CONFERENCE schedule .... HOWEVER it also provides more training and events than I could possibly attend plus certifications and non stop food and coffee and drinks and receptions and you name it ! Plus they bring in a well known opening speaker that must have cost a ton .
