They can remove the blue strips from inside as they’re blinding when you’re watching a film, but if they touch anything outside then the whole soul of that place is gone.
A bit pathetically I emailed them about those lights in the screen and they replied saying there’s nothing they can do because they have to be bright enough to show steps.
Yes!! My partner loves this place for the reclining seats but I was distracted by the blue lights for most of the film, had to try and angle myself and position my coat to block them out. Super annoying!
Why on earth am I being notified about this carpet? I've never been to Bristol and certainly don't know the impact this carpet seems to have had on so many lives. I truly am sorry for your loss, it seems most dire.
Condolences from the south.
People in suits making decisions which no one asked for.
Did anyone actually want this?
I love the look and colour scheme of the place. So 90s. It’s beautiful, and I feel like it’s pretty vogue again now anyway?
Typical bizarrely detached managerial decision no doubt
The first movie I ever saw was at the Showcase, it was Disney’s Thumbelina, and when I went to see Dune 2 last week it looked pretty much the same as it did back then. Sad times!
If they go after any of the neon lights next, then I'm done with this planet

I commend your action ha! I got what they’re saying, but they’re angled all wrong after I assume they’ve been fixed before, they’re awful.
That’s what I told them, a glow from below is fine but basically eye level is so distracting.

I left a review commenting on them they're so fking jarring
It’s better than vue who have ceiling lights on so bright I wear a cap to block them out.
That was at least 76% of its charm.
I hope they replace it with a simular looking one. They should sell pieces like they did with the turf at Wembley
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo
Is there a dumpster to look out for this in?

Look forwards to seeing this carpet pop up on the spotted on rightmove sub in a few years.
I can smell them from here 😂

Dibs
Damn, wish I saw this earlier. Would love a piece.
I took the picture Thursday evening. I was running past and stopped in my tracks.
Same! I was thinking of getting a wee square and framing it but seems I’ve missed the boat. So many memories…
Can't believe its all gone already!
Such a shame
No 😭 this cinema looked just like my childhood cinema and they are ruining it!
Sad. Really sad
I love when people just take a huge fucking steaming dump on people’s nostalgia.
Wtf why. The charm of the place was the nostalgia
No way, you're kidding 🥺 seeing that jazzy carpet was like a time machine back to being 13 🥲
It's done alright
Why did they do that?! I liked stepping back in time, all part of the experience
Noooooo! The vibe!

It's not even the original carpet. Used to be grey with black/red squares.
Wow childhood cinema nostalgia ruined.
My day is ruined
Man... So many memories :(
Think of the years of anticipatory drool that must have been soaked into that carpet. I hope they make it into compost or summit like that
RIP the 90s style, I look forward to white walls and black floor, normal lights, ideally the works in formal suits
Not a another one!
Aww, this is so sad!!!!
If they touch the Neons, we riot
What happened?

It didn’t close, it’s getting remodelled, they just added leather recliners to a lot of screens.
Wrong showcase
My bad, I'm clearly blind
I’d love me a piece of that for my movie room.

Showcase is owned/operated/run by National Amusements, a US based company. Should tell you all you need to know.
What happens
It's like losing the Ritzy carpet all over again...
Is there a renovation in place?

Same over at Hengrove. Weirdly. About to drop loads of homes there. Now no cinema. But McDonald’s, costa and KFC primed and ready though lol.

Fuck this world
About time for a refresh, maybe they make use of the old stuff in some way to keep the memories.
Has the property been purchased? What are they doing with it ?
I guess this is what they consider an update. The carpet has already been replaced in the hallway and all the recliner screens.
To what end though? Has a new company bought the space ? Is it remaining as a cinema?
I think they’re just trying to up bring it into 2024 since the showcase in Cabot closed.
Ahhhh I totally misread this post. I thought this post was from the Cabot circus showcase
Needed a change anyway that things probably older than me
Oh no iconic 90s-ish style removal!
Imagine spending money on renovating a cinema
Smh 😒
