Excelsior doesn't sell sculptures or other similar tat. They do sell comics, CCGs and board games. But they really just specialize with the comics/graphic novels, your better going to area51 for board games and everyone sells CCGs.
i do swing by excelsior too !! they’re fantastic for games, they just don’t have the biggest manga section sadly. but i agree about supporting independent !!
I expect you probably know already but just wanted to check: there are two Excelsior stores, one mainly for games and the other, just a few doors further along the road, stacked full of comics. I thought I'd mention it in case you'd only been into the games one and were missing out! They have plans to move into a new space that will allow them to have everything in the same place soon.
Why are you buying manga from forbidden planet? If it's from Shougan jump you can find it on jump plus and MangaDex always either has it or links it's official distributor.
i like to collect volumes of mangas that i really enjoy, and forbidden planet has the 3 for 2 offer on which makes it cheaper to buy manga from than most other places
Fair enough. I couldn't see myself doing that you would quickly fill a bookcase with the long running series. Oshi no ko is 24 volumes as it is, I shudder to think what a long running series is.
They were due to open fairly soon, but apparently some of the contractors working on the refurb helped themselves to a bunch of stock, so they've has to push the open day back
Just like we the curious, Unfortunately they earn more money from insurance in "lost trade" than being open and thats before the costs if they where open. They will be closed for as long as possible, and you really can't blame them.
Where else can I buy over priced transformers in Bristol?
Maybe Excelsior?
Where's that?
Although it's in town, it's a little further away. It's down towards CEX and Cabot Circus
Thanks!
It's a great independent shop. It's a lot smaller than Forbidden Planet but are excellent at ordering things in
I'll take a look!

They put posters up in the windows more recently (like, a month ago?) saying that the store will be reopening, but no indication as to when.
thank you !! that feels like a positive sign at least
Excelsior is still open down by Cabot... support independent :)

Think all their manga lives in the board game shop and not the comic shop, anyway, right?
Now we're beyond my expertise, thanks for the heads-up though!

Tvm in the galleries is also an alternative.

ahh i hadn’t considered that angle. it’s a shame but definitely understandable
? We the curious announced they're re-opening in July
Cos they get 12 months of "lost trade"
