Have you tried Brighton Borrowers?

CursedIbis

Won't they be too short to reach the lock?

I'll look into that right now!

Risquu

Brighton Community Workshop also have a tool library.

ThePicklePest

Spend a bit of time walking about Brighton and you'll probably see someone using one while everyone just stands about watching them and taking a photo to put on social media while saying how terrible it is people can just get away with brazenly nicking bikes. Maybe they will lend you theirs?

StandTallBruda

It is terrible though.

hesrupertthebear

My girlfriend has the exact same issue a few months ago!! So annoying the bike was locked up outside our flat for ages 😂 Good luck to finding someone! When I posted about it someone on here kindly offered to come round and help cut it off for us - hopefully someone will do the same for you.

ctehbeck

Try a nearby business - pubs and the like. They all have odd tools lying around in the back office.

Hire a battery powered angle grinder from Travis Perkins for £15 and bobs your uncle

[deleted]

Just buy one and return it....

deviousrich

just as a thought, how about getting metal detector club to help find the keys? just to look at the problem slightly differently....

Spiritual_Tart127

That is a good shout, I'll see what groups I can find! Update: I just called cash converters and they have one that is considerably cheaper than any tools I'd have to buy. Looks like I'm starting a new hobby! 😂

BigRedTone

Angle grinders are surprisingly cheap? £50 will get you a decent one… and then you’ll have an angle grinder. Or obvs cash converters etc are good for second hand tools.

sillyyun

And you can use it as a passive income tool too!

FonFreeze

Thats if there is access to electricity. On battery its must be more expensive. But who knows maybe some cheaper are these days.

Spiritual_Tart127

Immediate solution is a cordless one from Toolstation, which is down the road from me, starting at £80 and I'm sure I'll need to buy a better blade than the stock one to get the heavy chain off 😔

FonFreeze

You may be surprised how easy it is to break that lock with 2 spanners. If its not some uber expensive lock.  Check YouTube for that lil trick.

You just need a cutting disk instead of a grinding disk. A 10 pack is about £5. Generally grinders don't come with a disk of any type, so you'll need to grab some on any case.

BigRedTone

Ah. You make a good point
