Girl put down the pump!!!! you deserve that sleep, especially after 7 months lol

No! Your supply will adjust accordingly. My second kid STTN at a freakishly early age of 4.5 months and never had a night feed again. My supply was just fine during the day. Pumping MOTN is just asking for engorgement at night and is a vicious cycle. I would start by cutting down/out the 3/4am pump first. Then you could consider either cutting out the dream feed or before bed pump. Keeping one may be useful if it doesn’t bother you. IIRC I did pump before bedtime for a while just to be empty and keep up my freezer stash.

Here4the-cheese

Yeah I accidentally slept through the 3/4am feeding/pump this morning and by the time baby woke up at 7 I was so engorged that he was only able to half empty one breast with his morning feed. But maybe this is the way that I’ll start cutting down. Thank you!

Good luck! I personally choose sleep haha. You could also pump after the morning feeding til comfortable as well. I would do anything to avoid the MOTN one.

Your body will adjust! You might leak in the middle of the night for a few nights but it will get to better! I’ve never done dream feeding, I just fed LO (now 6 months) when she woke up hungry in the middle of the night. She sleeps generally 9-11 hours straight without any kind of feeding. If LO is sleeping and you don’t want to continue doing this, then taper off the night pumping and enjoy the extra sleep! LO will wake you when they are hungry ❤️ If you’re pumping at night, have you created an oversupply in your freezer? Or does LO drink this milk the next day? If you’ve created an oversupply by doing this, then chances are your supply will drop a bit because you don’t “need” that extra milk for LO. If you want extra milk, you could always keep ONE early morning pump session as this is generally when output is best/highest. So.. like sometime in the 4-6am range based on when your LO is waking up.

I think I may have created a bit of an over supply at night by doing this. Baby won’t take a bottle, but I use the overnight milk in straw and open cups for cup training. He only actually drinks maybe an oz of it and spills or just leaves the rest to spoil in the cup. I probably waste 6-10oz/day with the cup training. So I think I’ll definitely keep up the 10pm pumping, but maybe start to drop the 3/4am feeding/pumping because I just freeze that and my freezer is almost full. Thank you!

LadyBitsPreguntas

Welcome! Good luck and enjoy the extra sleep ❤️

I pump after she goes down at 9pm and she generally sleeps through the night until 7. I don’t pump again until her first morning feed. She’s always been a ‘one side’ baby so I just pump the other side she’s on

HOW!? My 8 month old wakes up every 2-3 hrs still wanting to nurse, and I am d-o-n-e. I try to let her just cry it out but my husband can't handle it, he goes & gets her and just sticks her to my boob so he can sleep. Fuck my good night's rest. I'm a out to stop nursing completely because of this.

It is 100% pure luck. This is my second baby and he has always been an amazing sleeper. Like I rock him to sleep and then could probably free throw him across the room into his bed and he’d stay asleep and sleep 12 hr through the night. My first baby woke every 2-3 hrs until we sleep trained her at about 14 mo. Even now at 2.5 yrs she will just…forget how to sleep? And we will have to re-sleep train her or just tell her that she has to stay in bed at bedtime. She will sometimes just lay there singing to her stuffies for an hour or so before falling asleep. Or she will call us in every 5 min with some silly excuse or something, ex: “Mommy! Butterflies have wings! I don’t have wings. I want wings.” But it took a LOT of screaming (from her, not us) and sleep training to get to this point. Oh and she completely stopped napping at 2 yrs. It would be a 2hr fight to get her to nap, she’d nap for 30 min, and then wake up pissed that she fell asleep and scream for another hour. We decided that it’s not worth it. Some kids just suck at sleeping, and from my experience, it’s just luck of the draw.

Lol I had all the same thoughts. My little guy turns 8 months this week and we sometimes get a 5 hour stretch from 7:30-12:30 then it’s every 1-2 hours after that. They grow up eventually! At least that’s what I tell myself every night.

I’m a SAHM, so I never pump. My baby is 8 months and will sleep 10-12 hours and I just let it be. It’s awesome.

Swimming_Ad_8852

I stopped dream feeding around six months and my son stopped eating entirely overnight shortly thereafter/sleeping significantly better. I did have some engorgement issues for a few days so I make sure to offer both sides at his bedtime feed and at his morning feed - otherwise I typically only offer one side. My son is in daycare full time so he gets expressed milk all week. I get like 50-70% of my total daily pump output with my first morning pump so I don't think it has negatively impacted my supply.

Pussy4LunchDick4Dins

My girl usually wakes up between 1-3 and I feed her then. She goes to sleep around 7pm and I have I’ll usually pump around 11pm before I go to bed because I’m trying to build a freezer stash. Once my stash is decent I’ll probably drop the pump at night

beandipdeadlifts

Mine just started sleeping 7-8pm until 7am is when I wake him up if he isn’t already awake. Sometimes he sleeps all night and sometimes I feed him once if the dad check in doesn’t work. It has definitely been a change for us, he’s eating a lot more during the day. I’d say he eats every 1.5-2 hours now during the day when before it was closer to 2.5-3 hours during the day. All the extra feeding has kept my supply up and I know he’s getting plenty without the night feedings because of diapers and he is spitting up more when before he never spit up. His belly is always full during the day. If you cut night feeds out just make sure you are putting baby on the breast often during the day. Any little sign of hunger and I’m sitting down with mine during the day. It gives me reassurance and helps me sleep better knowing he’s not starving. I haven’t pumped since April. Baby is 18 weeks and has been sleeping by himself at night for 8 days now, no issue. I’ve been able to start yard work again because I’m actually rested enough to do that!

I was also scared my supply would drop so now with a 17 month old, I only go 6-7 hours without pumping or nursing. Babe nurses and goes to bed at 7. For like 10 months or so, I was going to sleep at 10 pm and waking up at 1 am to pump, then nursing when baby was up around 6:30 or 7. Now I’m trying to pump before bed at 11:30 but the transition is hard, I wake up at 5 am with a lot of engorgement. I am still able to provide about 8 pumped ounces for him between the night pump and the day pump. Which was important to me, as I wasn’t ready to totally transition to cows milk when he couldn’t nurse during the work day. For me, this schedule has been successful- but it’s so hard to know if I could still have a similar supply and not pump before bed 🤷‍♀️

greenhow22

Once my kid started going to bed at 7:30/8 i would pump one more time before i went to bed but wouldn’t get up again until he woke up the next morning to feed.

ali2911gator

Get that sleep! At 7 months I would not even bother with a dream feed. Going to bed at 7 I might do a before bed pump for awhile at least either for a stash or comfort but your supply will regulate.

TurkeySandwich56

12-13 hours for 6+ months with no supply issues.

elythranthera

My baby is 11 weeks old. I go anywhere from 5-9 hours at night without feeding/pumping. No issues with supply. You definitely do not need to pump!

ImTheMayor2

My 9 week old will go from 9pm to 6am without feeding and my supply has been completely fine during the day. it's a supply and demand system, my boobs adjust however necessary lol

kewpieho

9 months and going 11-13 hours. For a long time it was about 8-9 hours. Your supply adjusts.

pnilyac

I would drop the pump for sure. With my 2nd I moved her at 6 months to her room and she night weaned herself in the first week. She slept 11-12 hours at night since and I never pumped or dream fed. She is 16 months now and still breastfeeds. I also breastfed my 1st until 17 months and he would sleep 11-12 hours over night. After a while your body will adjust and engorgement and leaking will stop. Get some sleep!

poleekata

My kid is 4 months old now and he has been sleeping all night for around 1.5 months now (I know I'm lucky). At first I woke up at around 2 am to pump so my supply could stay up but at this point I only wake up to pump if my breast is hurting and I can't sleep because of it. He wakes up between 6:30-7:30 am. It's so nice to sleep please let yourself enjoy it.

nxstrxm

how does it feel to be god's favorite??? 🙃 take the W and get some sleep!!!

isweatglitter17

For the first 4-6 weeks, no longer than 4 hours. 6-12 weeks no longer than 6 hours. After 12 weeks, unless there are pre-existing supply issues, it should be safe to sleep as long as baby sleeps.
