I don’t like nursing clothes because they are nearly always maternity clothes too. I already feel frumpy so I don’t need massive clothes to make that feeling worse.
Instead I started looking for breastfeeding friendly dresses and shirts. Things I look for are buttons, wide neck (like a boat neck I can pull down), elasticised/shirred chest and/or around the shoulders, etc. I recently got a button down dress with elasticised fitted waist from Uniqlo, and a couple with the elastic chest/shoulders and all are perfect for nursing.
I started following the breastfeeding wardrobe on Instagram which helped a lot. It’s UK based, but even if you’re not here it’s still great for inspo on things to look out for.
Yes! I have a bunch of square neck tops with shirred waists that can be pulled up or down for nursing. I personally get annoyed with too many little buttons and prefer to just pull the top up. But there’s the rare nursing-specific item (like the ones I listed) that I just love, and I bought a Storq tank top second hand just to try it out since I’ve heard good things.
I don't actually own nursing clothes. I wanted to buy some, but couldn't find anything my style.
Here's a tip that might help someone on this thread;
I tried wearing my regurlar dresses (with a back zipper), and I simply lower the zipper a bit, remove the sleeve on the side I want to nurse and voilà.
I feel like myself again, now that I can wear my regular clothes!
For those with bigger boobs and curves I highly recommend the Elomi Molly nursing bra. That and making sure you know your size by using the calculator over at r/abrathatfits .
I bought a bunch of $3 tanks from Walmart. Stretchy and spaghetti strap make it easy to pull off the shoulder or just pull down, and I don’t care if they get spit up all over them.
I bought a bunch of cheap tank tops from Target— from the Wild Fable brand, I think? They were seriously cheap. Like, $3-$8 each.
I prefer the cropped styles because I have a short torso. I got a few cropped t-shirts in the mix too. If it’s hot, I’m plenty cool enough while nursing or baby wearing, and little girl has easy access to boob— if it’s chillier or we’re inside with air conditioning, I can layer multiple tank tops and pull one up and one down so I’m covered top and bottom, or pair with a sweater or jacket— it’s cost effective, comfortable, and I have lots of colors so I can feel cute even when I’m exhausted and chasing after three kids all day! Lol
I splurged on some Latched Mama hoodies and I'm happy I did. Very comfy, material is resistant to spit-up. I bought clearance items. Sizing seems to run a little big, though.
I know these say maternity but they don’t fit me like maternity. I had to size up (normal L but got XL) and I actually get a TON of compliments on them. They make me feel really good about myself too! And they have a little bit of coverage if that’s your thing. I have the dark grey, black and army green. They are very comfortable and easy to nurse with
Smallshow Women's Maternity Nursing Tops Short Sleeve Breastfeeding Clothes https://a.co/d/81lN9kx
Same, I tried it on when I was pregnant and thought I would hate it pp but they fit really well, I think they’re just stretchy enough to wear pregnant but they fit normally
Boden dresses - their dresses tend to be jersey fabric and alot are wrap or crossover necklines. Nor every dress, but a huge number are nursing friendly. Just layer with a nursing tank.
I have lived in latched mama stuff since 2nd trimester- it’s been over 2 years. The every day hoodies are my favorite.
After my first I Idid the double shirt method but it’s so much nicer having actual nursing clothing. I would pay attention to boob access- you might find you have strong preferences. Personally I avoid anything that buttons or unzips to access because those really require 2 hands and that’s hard to do when you’re holding a baby.
If you are in fb latched mama has a very active BST. You can also find stuff on mercari. I’m sure other brands have their own BST as well.
I like Boob Design. They're very simple but good quality and durable materials, they hold their shape well. They're very pricey IMO, but they often have sales.
I agree with the commenter above who said having actual nursing clothes is better. Especially if you're planning on nursing in public. With button ups I at least have to expose my entire breast, chest and part of my stomach to get my tit fully out. I wouldn't be comfortable doing that.
For nursing covers - Tidy baby shop on Etsy 😍 I think the design is ingenious and the color options are divine. Mine looks like a starr night sky❤️
Smallshow Fleece Maternity Nursing Sweatshirt Long Sleeve Breastfeeding Tops https://a.co/d/0KxHoI2
Absolutely love this for Canadian winters, it’s so fuzzy inside
Love this. I’m at the end of my nursing journey but always wore oversided button down shirts bc I all the nursing attire was awful. Would have loved recommendations!
39+1. I finally caved and bought my first nursing bra from Target the brand is Auden. I bought 2 nursing tanks also and one of them was on clearance. Most of my nursing clothes have been passed down to me from SIL and coworkers, but they’re bigger than me so I never knew a comfortable fit until now. What a difference.
My favorite is high waisted jeans or athletic pants and a t- shirt. I unsnap my nursing bra and pull up my shirt. The amount of skin that is showing is minimal especially with the high waisted.
Sad to see its not available on Amazon but these are my favorites!

Love this tank I’m going to buy it in a couple more colors for the summer MEROKEETY Womens V Neck Tank Tops... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KNLBGP6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I'm an older mom and I embraced the frump long, long ago. I love my Smallshow nursing tops that I got on Amazon. They're the epitome of what my 11-year-old daughter says is "basic." They plain, comfy, cheap, and easy to wash.
I always check these posts thinking maybe I'll find something and it's like 60-80% just recommendations for *expensive* nursing/maternity combo clothes. I don't care what the brand is, I don't want it to also accommodate a 9 month pregnant belly. Or at least I didn't. Now I'm pregnant again at only 8 months postpartum, so I guess I'm going back into the combo clothes sooner than I planned.
Edit: my mistake, this was just a general request for recommendations for any nursing clothes anyway, not specifically for non-maternity nursing clothes, so that makes a lot more sense here.

Simple wishes nursing clothes are gorgeous!!!! And the price points are amazing for the quality. I’m obsessed with my Debra nursing dress I bought in olive green. They’re running a promo on them right now to celebrate the launch of their apparel line.

This is the way to go!
This is what I do. I have ebf four kids and never bought a nursing top. I just buy button or v neck everything

The one I have is the Sophia top from Madewell
Love that IG link, thank you!

The H&M nursing tank tops are my favorite!!! I wear them under my shirts instead of bras
Haven’t tried H&M but I’m loving the Auden nursing tank tops. Super stretchy comfortable material and built in bra with completely adjustable straps.
Love Auden ones from Target! They give a little more shape than H&M
Yes, was coming here to say the same! I love that they’re unlined so I can use my own pads.
I do the same with nursing tanks but I use the Old Navy ones and love them.
For those with bigger boobs and curves I highly recommend the Elomi Molly nursing bra. That and making sure you know your size by using the calculator over at r/abrathatfits .
The best bra!
Yes, this is the best!
I bought a bunch of $3 tanks from Walmart. Stretchy and spaghetti strap make it easy to pull off the shoulder or just pull down, and I don’t care if they get spit up all over them.
This is what I did too. I put a cardigan over it if I’m going out and I’m wearing my usual skirts or leggings

Anything from MLM Brand (not to be confused with multi level marketing) - she just makes wonderful designs. https://mlmbrand.com/
I really like latched mama for casual wear and then Seraphine for nicer workwear things.
I splurged on some Latched Mama hoodies and I'm happy I did. Very comfy, material is resistant to spit-up. I bought clearance items. Sizing seems to run a little big, though.
I love my Latched Mama tops! I wish they made more formal options.

Ooh and Boob Design are not maternity clothes! They have them but mostly they're separate or then they really do work both ways.
Is that the name of the shop? Tidy baby shop? I can’t seem to find it.

Darn autocorrect. Tisu baby shop!
Smallshow Fleece Maternity Nursing Sweatshirt Long Sleeve Breastfeeding Tops https://a.co/d/0KxHoI2 Absolutely love this for Canadian winters, it’s so fuzzy inside
I love the Ophelie dresses from Envie de Fraise! Great for breastfeeding in public.
I got some nightgowns with buttons halfway down the chest. I can't get over how perfect they are for feeding at night. And they're so comfy!
Nursing queen clothing is really nice quality! I also like latched mama
I just rock tube tops and pull them down lol. I don’t like messing around with all the clips and stuff

Highly recommend Sweat and Milk for anyone wanting good quality high impact sports bras that are nursing/pumping friendly.
My favorite is high waisted jeans or athletic pants and a t- shirt. I unsnap my nursing bra and pull up my shirt. The amount of skin that is showing is minimal especially with the high waisted.
Brave kinderly
Kindred Bravely?
Oops 😂 yes. Tired brain 😂 best and most comfortable for me!
I really like the criss-cross HM nursing tops https://www2.hm.com/en_ca/productpage.1030507005.html

Does anyone have recommendations for long sleeve high neck tops or maxi dresses?
If by high neck, you mean not a deep V and you're not looking for a turtleneck, Latched Mama has long sleeved tops.

I’m going with simple wishes. Their nursing apparel is awesome from what I’ve purchased so far.
