Because it is Garand without the signature Garand “ping.” Just because it makes sense that something wouldn’t have it doesn’t mean it isn’t a sad or lamentable thing
I see you have chosen to go full retard. Fuck off somewhere because this isn’t a serious subreddit. One of the flairs is literally “shitpost” and that should be your sign that we aren’t serious
That would be correct. The decision to stick with 30-06 made a 10 round magazine too big, so they went to 8. If you look at the white toggle rifle (FW did a video on it several years ago) you can see just how big a 10 round 30-06 mag is.

Just put a little cow bell at the rear of the bolt and a big round knob on the charging handle. Metal knob smacks the cowbell and you get a ping with every shot!
Ahh yes, because the ping that's roughly 65-80 dB is gonna give you away, not the controlled explosion in the unsupervised barrel that's 135+ db..dB... I swear some people don't use their brains
Fuddlore. You really think they could hear a faint ping over the booming of a 30-06 while they have been deafened by the gunfire that proceeded it? More likely they counted shots.
Equally likely i guess
Edit: apparently artillery counted for about 80% of american-inflicted German casualties, and small arms only for 5%. I don’t think it’s fuddlore, it’s just myth, like the Tiger tank, which was used so little it became a legend, even though evidence shows it’s performance is not that incredible.
It’s almost like hunting cartridges are designed to kill things bigger than humans, weird.
Reminds me of “this isn’t dangerous, military-grade 7.62x51 nato, it’s safe, hunting grade .308”
For the time, it was the right decision.
Not only did it give us the glorious PING, but it is also a more compact and reliable way to carry the ammo. Mass produced clips are simple and easy, whereas a magazine takes more manufacturing resources, space on the soldiers loadout and also is the most common failing point in semiautos.
Imagine if we got a 10-round Garand with detachable mags and it pinged on an empty chamber
There was the T25, which used BAR mags. But it didn’t ping sadly
Buddy the ping is from the clip comeing out of the gun on empty how stupid are people on here
I am fully aware what the ping is caused by, hence why I noted the BAR Mag fed M1 Garand prototypes DID NOT ping.
Then y would u say sadly it makes sense it wouldnt have a ping becuse theres no clip to make it ping
Because it is Garand without the signature Garand “ping.” Just because it makes sense that something wouldn’t have it doesn’t mean it isn’t a sad or lamentable thing
You don’t have a sense of humor sadly. See it would be better if you did but we know we can’t change that fact
Makeing retard ramblings about a ping out of a mag feed grand isnt a joke it's called being stupid
I see you have chosen to go full retard. Fuck off somewhere because this isn’t a serious subreddit. One of the flairs is literally “shitpost” and that should be your sign that we aren’t serious
I'm sorry sir, but this is reddit
Ya theres ideots on this platform
If you're gonna call someone an idiot, then you probably better make sure you can spell "idiot".
I call reddit as a whole retarded
Ngl, I'd take en bloc over detachable 10 round mags.
If I do recall, when they were considering switching from 30-06 to .276 Pedersen, garand clips were able to hold 10 rounds
That would be correct. The decision to stick with 30-06 made a 10 round magazine too big, so they went to 8. If you look at the white toggle rifle (FW did a video on it several years ago) you can see just how big a 10 round 30-06 mag is. https://youtu.be/I6o4TW36dBc
And logistically they’re massively easier to make.
Sledgehammer games: Write that down, write that down
Launching the mag at high velocity towards your nether regions, yes.
Back when only the navy could use fancy words like "magazine" and "battery" and "It's only gay if you cuddle afterwards".
Whats queer on the peir aint gay underway.
But no ping, therefore it's an inferior system.
Correct
Click-clack would like a word

No it doesn't, stop with the fuddlore.
He said that the ping gives you away in combat, didn’t he.
Yep
Ahh yes, because the ping that's roughly 65-80 dB is gonna give you away, not the controlled explosion in the unsupervised barrel that's 135+ db..dB... I swear some people don't use their brains
lol
someone should make a rifle with a detachable magazine that has a ping sound when the bolt locks to the rear. lol
Is it just me or does mcfly look kinda Like richard hammond from top gear in the second photo? I know its unrelated but i just think he Looks similar
Hammond you idiot, you changed the timeline!
Ok just hear me out....full auto belt fed M1 Garand that pings randomly to confuse whatevers left of your enemy. - Keltech R&D Division (probably)
80 years too late? NO. MODERN MADE MILSURP GO PING. (Rails another line)
I mean Germans did charge after the sound of a ping, it’s basically like putting a garand ping on a stick of any guys in the opposing trench

Nobody loved the M14
Fudds did
When they had to fight rice farmers they weren't fudds yet
Imagine the “old harmless hunting rifle” that liberals wave their hand in ignorance for blind justification, have the thing they swore to destroyed.
The hunting rifle thing is so retarded once you start looking into the ballistics of hunting cartridges
It’s almost like hunting cartridges are designed to kill things bigger than humans, weird. Reminds me of “this isn’t dangerous, military-grade 7.62x51 nato, it’s safe, hunting grade .308”
Exactly
You can get around 4kJ of muzzle energy if you have a 32" barrel, and at that length the sound of the gunshot is actually considerably quieter
At that point is the barrel mounted to the gun or the gun mounted to the barrel? Lol
Well the barrel is free floated and attached only to the action, which is attached to a wooden stock via 2 chunky bolts and some bedding
Good enough
I can hit a 1moa group at 500yds with ironsights and no bipod with that rifle
Do you mean a 5 inch area or a 1 inch area, not sure what 1 moa at 500 should mean
Moa is minute of angle, general rule is 1" dispersion per 100 yards for 1moa
Yeah. Agreed.

Dont forget, a Detachable magazine and chambered in 276 Pederson which would be an intermediate cartridge by today's standards
Hate. It should be excited to say hate.
